  1. like those clever NYC Subway ads for the Storage Company say "The French Aristocracy never saw it coming either"
  2. Been getting 5-6 hours out of the thinner B&H batteries. Watsons. Anyone else after 50 takes ( doesnt matter the scene name) you can not re name the next scene? Called SD today and they said it was normal after 50 takes. They referenced it was the same as a tape filling up. Just seeing if anyone else has run into this. Edit: (solution was to go into the folder structure and delete the scene name if anyone else has been factory resetting like me)
  3. Used filemaker pro with a barcode scanner. Used it at the SVA film library. It's great as long as your not sharing it with a college server!
  4. they are emojis of a gun to the head. take 1, take 2
  5. but do you know? and by target market do you mean producers with high expectations and low budgets wondering why the files arent named with the takes?
  6. how about fixing the ability to name files and takes?
  7. Anyone local available or NJ/ NYC with a car to do a shoot at the casino? PM me Full rate 4 channels.
  8. Shiiiiit Obamacare be $50 a month for me with Dental and Vision with MetroPlus NYC. (thx Obama care) Do some research with your favorite doctors and see what plans they are on and scope out those prices. I'm not sure we as a mass can give you solid advice on something that is supposed to be tailored to your health needs.
  9. Did Chris get you into the sound game on this one JW?
  10. http://www.engadget.com/2014/07/27/lithium-anode-battery/ How long does it take for a battery to go from Scientist to sound mixer? Any of you manufacturers working with anyone of these future techs?
  11. That PGA 51 hr festival is just a way to break in future apprentice producers and see who can cut it. Imagine we had a obstacle course for sound mixing. Just unplug every wire and leave it out at 6 am and go "well you have 5 channels available, wood floors, 5 Central AC units, picky actors, and were shooting at a race in time square in an hour ,good luck". Good luck to anyone wanting to be in the DGA. Big commitment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Maybe things would be different if workers called the department of labor instead of writing to gawker. [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. It's a 633 with two media slots. 1 for an ISO and the other for whatever mix you think you can make sound good for the project. Almost like a death race against the post audio mixer to see what part of whose mix will make it to the finish line. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. A mix pre may deal with the situation and expectations accordingly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hi all. Been doing documentary work traveling the country with an L.A. crew and working with BBDO/Beyond Our Reality in NYC and across the country. Just looking for some local nyc gigs. Got my own gear and kind of looking for some extra work if anyone needs a reliable mixer. Quiet and friendly on set. Just looking to get good sound and not deal with Mandy, so i figured I'd ask here. -633 -302 -416 -g3's www.stillweii.tumblr.com/sound stillwellpierce@gmail.com Thank you. BP
  16. "Blair Halver · Follow · Top Commenter Hey Edwardo - thank you for your comment here. I appreciate your input. I totally know what you're talking about when the director said "that's why we don't use boom poles on the show." When people on set ask me about the boom, I tell them I try to use it as little as possible! :-) Maybe that's just me being lazy because who wants to hold a boom over 4 housewives for 2 hours straight, while carrying your 788 rig?? Ha! Not only that, though, but I find that the boom usually creates more trouble than it's worth - as you found out with the shadows. Of course every show is lit differently, and there are certainly times to use the boom, but in general, on the stuff I work on, the lighting or the location/scenario itself is prohibitive to booming. So I rely heavily on the wireless lavs instead. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement." who wants to? I would hope someone who cares. Otherwise ok. good for this guy wanting to do this. Still takes balls to get up and out there and actually want to be the sound guy.
  17. shut the internet down. it's over. nothing else needs to be said anymore. just keeeding. zooms are chill and like studiomprd said its "the archer not the arrow", but again it comes down to outputting to camera/ producer not stone cold stunning you for not having time code sync. From bartending/truck driving Tascam/zoom can definitley slowly fund a career change.
  18. good perspective. H6N is on ebay funding the bag/batteries for new recorder next week.
  19. great to start off with. If you don't need timecode and the producer isn't snooping to what's in your bag, put some tape on the knobs and your chilling. Works great with a 302 running into it and then have a mix out line going separate into camera to produce 2 recording sources. Use it as a plant mic/backup recorder, never can be too safe on set. It's stereo XY mic is great. Hid it in a truckers sun visor for an interview and surprised the producers with it's quality. Don't use the microSD, mine already failed after 8 days of shooting. Use it until it funds a 633. Don't want to be dressed for the prom with no prom to go to.
