  1. does it output both timecode and audio at the same time?
  2. a curious question. For arguments sake, let's use a Lectrosonics kit for a month. Whoever your favourite local (or not) shop is will give discounts for the month. Say, 15 days. If you're working 20 days for the month and you own that Lectro kit - are you charging the same as your favourite shop? or do you charge for each day of use? Now, let's say it's a 3 month contract. Do you cut rates overall or do you discount the gear you're using to be in line with the shop? Do you get pressured to reduce rates to be more in line with the shops? Do you hate the shops for offering rates like this? Or do you like them because you can rent something for 12 days a month and benefit from charging 20 days (or something like this) thoughts?
  3. own a 7 series recorder? How about the hawk woods unit? http://www.hawkwoods.com/products/details/details.php?code=dv-sqn&mainMenuItemToSlide=4&asi=dv-f970&asi2=dv-mc2 it's hirose - but you could mod the zax or the easier route and mod this unit easily.
  4. Anyone aware of or ever had custom built a AA p48 supply? The Denecke PS-1A or the PSC box of the same variety are fine but in certain situations it'd be really handy to have one in a tube, so you could throw a AA in there and be done with it. Much like an ME66 or Rode Ntg-2. Does a standalone external one exist? if not, why?
  5. i like the $40 headphones and pursed lips the one guy has going on.
  6. It's really hard to tell because it will depend on the vintage of the eargonzier. They've done several updates over the years with their zippers, hooks, and velcro accessories but the size and dimensions are the same.

    Zaxcom verbatim

DVD-RAM is supposed to last 100 years for archive, correct? That's the argument? Well, I'm sure there's some testing they can do but I'd say the clearest answer we can give so far is that it can last 15 years, essentially the date of its introduction to the market. Time will tell if it can go beyond that. I had a discussion the other day with a post house that said once they've copied the files they need onto their drives, the dvd-ram is tossed. I guess perhaps that's the end of its life and probably a shame to admit it. However, thanks for the replies on the different media gents. Much appreciated.

Any Deva owners try Verbatim as DVD-RAM? positive results? negative ones?
  9. Perfect! Thanks Antoine, that resolved it. How did you find that in the search function? I typed in a few variation on zaxcom + fusion + screen + displays + etc, etc and each time it returned zero results.
  10. Hey Sound folks, Zaxcom Fusion 12. I did a seatch but couldn't find anything. The unit has a white screen. It goes into record, seeimgly just fine but their is no display. anyone run into this before? Thanks, Tyler
  11. the mix pred also kind of offers 2 extra inputs (on the tape return) if you're desperate and it can serve as a USB audio interface. Following that, if you have to shoot with a 5d (or DSLR of any kind) at least you can slap that on the camera, know that the output is calibrated properly and get the inputs you want. I'd say for similar machines, you get way more for your money on the mix pred. it's also half a pound lighter...
  12. Thanks Jack but that is my question. Why is it possible with the ERX1TCD and not the TRX900AA? Is it firmware or hardware? Should it not be available to each? The cabling for it is odd and doesn't make use of stereo. It's a mono thing. Seems funny. Why would it changed on the nomad? I guess the nomad has the wireless built in to it then...
  13. Thanks, yes, all options are installed. I'm looking for both tc and audio to come out. That's far more ideal for say, remote roll and confidence on a 552 or Nomad when over the shoulder.
  14. Thanks Jack, that resolved the issue. Onwards and upwards to more questions. I'm running a QRX100 + IFB with a TRX900AA also with IFB. Ideally, i'd like the QRX on the camera transmitting timecode and IFB audio back to me. I can then have a monitor return and timecode remote roll eventually. What's weird is that with an ERX1TCD I can get time code and audio out. ON the TRX900AA it seems to be one or the other. Is it not using relatively the same board? Will it/Could it be a possible firmware update?
  15. Hey, Does anyone know of a 48.048 AD interface? I looked at JoeCo, Motu, Apogee, etc. but can't seem to find one that'll do the needed sample rate. It's to go into a DEVA's digital inputs. Thanks, Tyler
  16. Anybody have a QRX 100 that shows all red on LED's and on top as well. Everything, including the audio is peaking on the receiver. Regardless of what is happening on the transmitter. The QRX is plugged into the camera for audio and power. A power cycle both causes the issue and resolves the issue. It happens 1/100 times though so not too often. It's happening on the Sony XD cams and the Panasonic Varicams. Thoughts? ideas?

  18. Hi Jeff, Wondering what model you're using. I've got a Sandisk extreme firewire CF card reader/writer SDDX4 and the Deva V v7.45 won't recognize it. I'm assuming it's a chipset issue. Any tips? Thanks,
  19. Hey gang, A reality shoot, mainly with kids that are difficult to lav. They are playing on the ground making clothing noise difficult to deal with. Was looking at this - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/678033-REG/Jony_JONYSHOT_JonyShot_Parabolic_Microphone_Dish.html with one of the sennheiser 8000's series mics and sound devices mixpre and a dedicated operator. Has anyone used this? anyone use a parabolic on set before? Results? When they say highly directional - how "highly" are we talking? How's the sound quality?
  20. this looks and sounds amazing. what a job they did! I can't even imagine how long it would take to get everything right in the manufacturing.
  21. it's also worth to note that the cable with the filter antenna, the connections at either end should have a pin in them. The pin breaks and you basically don't have a filter antenna anymore. So when VER does get you sorted, make sure the cable is fully functional as well.

    QRX100 issues

Hey Jack, The QRX only mode gives me no hits, so, that's sweet but i want to listen to the camera, not what the QRX is receiving. The input does give me the hits. So...we're getting somewhere. Why would that be? Any ideas? The cable itself has been tested and we've been outputting using a few different sources with the same results. On another note, we adjusted the freq today and still having the same problem.

    QRX100 issues

Thanks Glenn. turning the drop out compensator on helped a lot. The hits are still present but they are much less audible. The goal is not to use the ERX1's as a confidence return. The goal is to use the TRX900 for all the cool reasons it advertises itself!
