  1. The P1900 works great. I have been using one on my cart with a MacMini running Metacorder. I used their cables.
  2. I did one 3D shoot with it. The dp swore by it but the producer/editor told me the tc was all over the place so they didn't use the camera tc at all. He synched everything the old fashioned; way with the sticks. I dont know if it was an PEBKAC but I wouldn't trust the Horita for anything my employment relied on.
  3. I've been using a Mac Mini/Metacorder/MOTU Traveller setup since 2005 as my main multitrack recorder. The Mini is now mounted in a rack mounted drawer with a Carnetix P1900 DC/DC regulator to run it on 12VDC. I'm still using my original non-intel Mini. It has never failed. (Although I am getting ready to replace it with a new one.) They do run hot so on occasion, when there is a very high ambient temperature, I have had to stick a cold bottle of water in the drawer to keep things cool. The only issue I've had is with the Metacorder dongle getting direct light and/or it and getting too hot...the program can crash. Do know that you must use powered hubs if you are planning to run multiple HDDs and A DVD burner. Learned that one the hard way when the computer stopped "seeing" the interface right before a take once. Although I also track to my Cantar X-1, I only burn a 2 track mix back up with it to send to telecine. Other than that, it is a remarkably robust system that I have used to master every show I've done over the last 7 years. It is great to have the ability to record a virtually unlimited number of tracks when needed. It's perfect if you are using an 01V. I tested a setup using a Macbook/Metacorder/M-Audio Firewire 2626 with the dual ADAT card and was able to record 16 tracks continuously for hours with no problems. Unfortunately, the show cancelled before we started production so I didn't get to use it in a real production setting but the tests went great. Metacorder is an awesome program. I highly recommend it. I am not so familiar with Boom but several friends of mine swear by it as well so I am sure it would suit your needs just fine too.
  4. And R.I.P my neighbor and friend Charlie O'Donnell. Most all of us have grown up with Charlie's voice in our background. He was the announcer on Wheel of Fortune since the '70's. He started in Philly as Dick Clark's sidekick on the original American Bandstand before coming to L.A. where he was a DJ on local stations (KRLA) during the heyday of rock radio. He was the voice of the Oscars & Emmys and among other things, was the announcer for all of the Beatles shows in L.A. He generously lent his voice talents to several radio and VO projects I have produced over the years. He was a wonderful man and a great neighbor. So long, Charlie O.
  5. Here's to you. Happy Birthday! Dave
