  1. I believe the best sounding American show I watched last year was Homeland. That's just sound too familiar to my ears.
  2. Hi Glenn Have you start to remove that 80Hz cut off on pre-amp of Maxx yet ?? My unit will arrive to the factory this week and I hope this can be done as well other small issues. Thanks Cloud
  3. I've been using lectro AFJ antennas for all my zaxcom RXs(and 742,Maxx,900CL as well) .No problem.
  4. happy birthday Larry ! thanks for all the help so far ! best wishes
  5. http://efo.buy-lowest.com/keyboard-mouse-touchpad-c-77/efo-smallest-lightest-rf-mini-wireless-keyboard-mouse-touchp-p-236 the vertical version of that small keyboard looks like the one to go with for a single hand operation !
  6. that small keyboard looks good in your 633's bag, what's the brand and name ? does it work with 633 ? thanks Cloud
  7. my guess would be more recording tracks. Maybe 2-4 more as it has four analog and four AES plus the two RTN input and current it only does six. But there are only four faders, still need mix pre-D or M32 to help when mixing many mics(extra cost&weight) ( who may already go to Nomad or 664 or even 633 for that purpose) . Yes there is a virtual fader on Maxx's screen, for controlling one ch boom mic that doesn't need much movement might be fine, for real mixing, it's not helping. No USB/serial port on Maxx is really a shame plus TC IN or OUT only. They afraid to create something better than Nomad so give Maxx few hardware limitation then forgot there r still other manufactories on this planet. but yes,I would like to see what Zaxcom will bring up for the Maxx. To myself,I would love to keep my Maxx IF zaxcom can make a four faders panel that has two TA5 inputs(for two pair of digital input or four analog from QRX,line level enough,as we can get one pair more output on QRX either analog or digital)) and one TA3 digital output to go in Maxx's digital LINKED IN for mixing purpose. If this device can be made, that's a big IF i know, i would happy to stay with Maxx, if not, i guess i will have to switch.

  10. Nice job Tom. probably I should play more with my 8050,it's been sitting in the box for almost four years now.
  11. just done another two months movie with three epic everyday, still use ERX2TCD and a Y cable, tc fine, and audio cable side go into Epic is Unbalanced this time, worked out fine too. Probably it just doesn't take balanced cable. the biggest issue this time was : the GP I/O control signal is also located on the same connector that tc connector, the steadicam op wasn't happy to do it manually and the rental house didn't provide any pro I/O for the cameras, we lost two days of TC for A cam because the op un-plug the tc cable, then editor showed up on site brought this up to the producer, went a bit ugly but we got the connector for TC at the end. Another RED design thing.
  12. would love to see that from SD or Cantar X3
  13. my 742 is blk24 as well, and my cmit5U,cmit2u and 641 never got any RF issue from either 742 or 942 even in extreme distance ( side by side). My ccm8 and Neumann 82i got RF noise when nearby the whip antenna my 5U was purchased in 2010 or 2011 i think, 2U this year. maybe a call to ask Schoeps if they have done any improvement for 5U in the recently years would help.

    DIY Zaxpaq

On my current project, the two QIFB in my bag which are half outside the bag, the other four in my zax-paq,they never locked up during HOT weather, I'm not talking about "warm" or "very warm". There is one more QIFB which I'm using receive UHF audio from my Maxx then re-broadcast it through QIFB as a 2nd IFB transmitter to extend IFB range, I put this unit in a pouch which is quite tight&isolated from air,in the rain I put plastic bag outside of it as well. This unit locked up two or three times, by " lock up", I mean : any touch of any of the buttons on the panel is NOT working. So you can't make any change of it. The unit still receiving and broadcast IFB audio fine. The only way to power it off is un-plug the external power of it then re-boot it everything back fine. And yes latest firmware if that's your next question Jack. I'm suggesting Vale drill some holes on his DIY case so the unit can breath in case it gets too hot then lose the control of the unit during a take which might happen. You really don't have to defend every single negative info of a certain brand, every product(include other brands) has its weak point on various conditions. That's why we share our experience and opinions here.

It does lock up when overheated. Especially the QRX has QIFB. That's why they drill the wholes on QIFB units' surface.

Nice job. But you may want to drill a few wholes on the metal surface to let the units breath in the summer time. They do get really hot. Hasn't been an issue so far but just in case
  17. the brown hard box paper i put on its upper side is for protecting my chair from scratching by the metal surface of the cart. we had so many mountain scenes on this film, that's when i go RastOrder fold up cart for a very light setup.
  18. got mine from Gotham sound shipped it all the way to China. It's heavy duty and i use it for bag setup, when i use the main cart it's the follow cart which is really nice. we put two boom holders on its accessories bar and modified two cup for supporting the pole in the city or studio that anywhere is flat, it's a very good tool, in the mountain not really, too heavy to carry around. the best thing i love about it,is the grips they designed for this cart are so tough and really easy to adjust to a height you want.
  19. yeah,something small with four knobs….
