  1. Thanks Jack. A further question. In Fusion manual, aes d15 has no mention of connecting the ground.. Any thoughts?
  2. Hi Glenn and Jack. Any camera link user manual as yet? I want to confirm wiring so I can have all cables ready to go. (especially AES for ta5f) Can't wait for it to ship.
  3. I have been using a cmit and ccm41 in humid conditions and am yet to have issues. However I also carry a sennheiser 416 as a standby. The amount of crap they can deal with is outstanding, and it can go where I am afraid to put the schoeps.
  4. Instead of a press kit, just hire a sound guy and take him everywhere you go. Then camera, then hair and make up, manager..... It takes lots of little steps to build an entourage!
  5. It seems your options are... Lug heavy cable around Lug more audio cable around to get receivers closer Buy active antennas and make up loss over long rg58 Lug your bag around Or have dropouts As Wyatt and Robert have suggested better cable and antenna placement will help considerably.
  6. Thanks Jack, I was.
  7. Quick question, Is the audio output of the cl adjustable between analogue and digital?
  8. Good work Richard. On another note, xd cams do output 4 channels embedded in the Sdi stream.
  9. Perhaps it is a prelude to the new ambient BP line of boom poles? I will let you decide what BP stands for. (just in case this is a joke not meant to offend.) I guess I will have to wait and see!
  10. Page 157 of user manual suggests optional TC on pin 8 of the 10 pin hirose. I imagine this means time code. Is anyone using this feature?
  11. Put an order in today for one. I hope it does not take months either! Looks like a good test for any rf spray from the positioning in that bag.
  12. I worry more about the devils chilli salsa than his avacado.
  13. Actually it is the slate mic next to the d25, Not dc.
  14. I have had a fusion for about 4 years. Had some early trouble so contacted zaxcom. Service was excellent. They sent out a new screen and faceplate attachment which I carefully replaced. Since then all has been good until about a week ago when I did a gig in a particularly dusty environment. After I noticed that the screen was insensitive, or non responsive, or wanted to do things on its own. First piece of advice, contact zaxcom direct. They of course would know best! It was all because of a little dust etc around the edges of the screen freaking it out. Due to the fact I am in Australia, and the turn around time could have been a problem I chose to try and sort the problem out myself, based upon information from zaxcom when I first had issues. After carefully taking the faders, faceplate, and top section apart I cleaned it thoroughly and have had no problem since. The hardest part of this process was re connecting the dc for the top plate back in. It sits right up against the ribbon cable for the analogue outs d25 connector. If I could work out how to take the side plate off it would have been much easier, though I was not comfortable going any further than I did. As it turns out undoing the d25 from the chassis allowed another few millimetres which allowed easier, though not easy, re connection. I would only go to this extent if you are very careful. The ribbon under the touchscreen is delicate looking which I did not disconnect, (possibly soldered to circuit board), as opposed to the ribbon cables that attach the screen and transport enclosure to the rest of the machine. So far all is well. I suggest cleaning your touchscreen as often as possible, not by taking it apart. I got a bit slack and I believe this is why it got to the point that it did this time. Once again talk to a technician at zaxcom first.
  15. Why not tap from the camera? If the camera loses power then there is no point feeding it audio. The v lock camera adapter is an idx part I believe.

    The suspense is killing me!
  17. Aja embedders and de embedders. One video cable, sd or hd sdi. Video from the village, sound to the village.

    Bag for Fusion 12

I have a fusion and the sort of new petrol 614. Fits the machine perfectly and great access to all side connections. Got the idea from "show me your bag" gallery. I think maybe Zack posted a photo of his fusion in the 614. If you search the gallery you will eventually find it.
  19. A few years ago while on location in Hong Kong my fusion touch screen froze. Luckily I had enough tracks armed to fudge my way through. (had to re enter scene take note etc later). Back at the hotel I was on the phone to zaxcom. Was very happy to talk to a technician, though thoroughly disappointed that I did not have the correct Allen key to take the fader knobs off to take the machine apart and reseat ribbon cables under the touch screen. The next morning I ran around Kowloon and hong kong and purchased 3 of these keys. I was able to get it going again and get through the shoot. Upon returning home I contacted zaxcom again. They sent me a new touchscreen that has performed flawlessly since. Although this was stressful at the time I was impressed by the speed that the issue was resolved. Regardless of your choice of equipment, always have a backup! I did, though it was on another job and was held up in customs for a day. Unfortunately it was the day I needed it! I would contact zaxcom direct before you do anything, and if you can, send it to them to fix. It is a very busy machine under its covers!
  20. I would live a Mitsubishi delica super exceed 4wd turbo diesel van. Heaps of room and the seats behind the driver turn 180 degrees.
  21. Hi Chris. Give me a call next time you are in Brisbane. (not until February though!) Hope all is well.
  22. If you are working around sporting events it may help to locate the outside broadcast compound and talk frequencies with the comms tech, audio director or outside broadcast manager. That way at least you know of site specific frequencies to steer clear of.
