  1. You could start by checking the phantom power voltage supplied by the 442 with a multi meter.
  2. Apologies if I came across as testy. It was not my intention.
  3. Try genelec 6010, good portable setup.
  4. Yes I am aware it is an internal jumper. I was saying that I wish lectrosonics would make an external switch and led standard, which I would pay more for, rather than having mine modified which would cost time and money anyway.
  5. I have found sennheiser range to be quite acceptable on outside broadcasts. Using quality rf cable and sennheiser active sharkfins. Switchable gain on antennas to make up for loss in cable. I wish lectrosonics would make their dc on venues and gain on antennas external, rather than having to take units apart and move jumpers. I would pay extra for this feature.
  6. I own and use lectrosonics Robust and reliable. I use sennheiser on outside broadcasts as well. I love lectrosonics but new sennheiser aes out sound fantastic. Unfortunately I cannot afford them!
  7. Hi. Mix pre on eBay Australia, Sydney maybe? Would be the easiest. Otherwise a trip to jay car??
  8. My neighbour pulled out the most amazing scotch tonight. About 50 years old! Wow! What a surprise.
  9. Hi. With all the input/output flexibility of zaxcom gear, Has anyone else tried a Coles lip ribbon with their nomad or fusion. All this power to send ifbs, a mix, record isos, means that all the functionality is there to record a small scale sports event. (example: 2 commentators, stereo crowd, submix field fx, external slate as coms to commentary, fist style mic for commentators talkback return, etc.) Obviously lower budget in comparison to an outside broadcast truck. (by a lot!) I know you could go with hmd25s, but without dedicated commentary units with talkback and mute/cough functions this may not work location style. With the Coles 4104 essentially you could get away with moving it an arms length away from your mouth in the event of a coughing fit. It seems there is 30db gain on the fusion preamps, not quite enough. Could this be raised in a software update to accommodate this style of microphone? Anyone tried something like this? Any thoughts?

    Zaxcom- MAXX

Hey JohnPaul, Is there any particular block that wolves prefer to eat? Around here the wallabies seem to have acquired a taste for block 25, not really sure why...??
  11. Check out MOTU (mark of the unicorn) Traveller. I am not sure but I believe they can be powered by dc. Probably light pipe and spdif only though.
  12. Slightly off topic but I agree with Vin Genelec 6010 Big sound for small speaker for small price Not so sure about noise canceling headphones, But if it is going to allow a lower listening level in high level environments and help save your hearing..... Then perhaps. Otherwise hd25s for me.
  13. Hi Jordi. I guess either pre would sound good. You got some good options.
  14. If I can get all gear in the same place as I am I will let you know sooner.
  15. Dominique, At present I am away from some of my equipment so it will not be until mid February that I will test for sure. Here is my plan. Zaxcom fusion, xd cam, miranda picolink de embedder. (embedder $100 off eBay yet to arrive) 4 channel aes to the camera Sdi output from xd cam (might have to be downconverted to sd depending on Miranda de embedder) 4 channel aes out of embedder into fusion Line up all with tone Set up meters and headphones to monitor camera. May need to trawl through xd manual to downconvert hd to sd on sdi output. Previous test Zaxcom fusion, Sony ex3, trickster 850 vision mixer. Basically only 2 channel analogue into ex3, de embed on tricaster, aes into fusion.
  16. If production are asking for 4 channels on camera, then one can only hope they have the ability to extract it from the camera disk or card when ingesting. If production insist on this method in their work flow and are willing to pay to achieve this, then I see no reason not to help them achieve their goals.
  17. Usually they would take the mix, and pull out the Isos if they really needed. I would prefer double system, though I find that it is not the reality of reality television.
  18. There are a lot of television networks and production companies that don't think it is a ridiculous idea to record to camera, and they pay the bills. In some situations there is no time to for editors to ingest camera disks and double system sound from multiple crews, do an edit and turn it around for a live show the next morning.
  19. Aes to the camera. De embedded aes from the camera. 4 channel send and return.
  20. Leaving your boom at home in this case would be like removing the spare tyre from your car. You just never know........

    DPA LAVS

Love my dpas Countryman b3s on mm400 waterproofs. Have seen them abused for years. Covered in water, mud, slime, fish guts and even slightly cooked egg yolk! A good wash out and they almost always come back.
  22. You could take the de embedded returns aes and set up a return headphone monitor preference, or solo the channels to hear individual tracks.
  23. Is audio embedded 4 channel on the sdi out? Perhaps an Aja de embedder and a 75 ohm bnc would do the trick. Would be cheaper than 4 tx and 4 rx. Some delay issues perhaps but at least you would know for sure.
  24. Hi Chris. Finish here on 3rd of feb, then golf and back in Brisbane for a day off on 7th feb. Let me know next time you are up. Cheers Mark
