I could hear 10K fine but not 18K so I loaded them both into my DAW to double check the levels. The levels were the same but in the DAW I could hear 18K fairly easily. Same computer and monitors. Strange.

They look like splitters and adapters to me. I like the quote" I'M NOT SURE WHAT EXACTLY THEY ARE FOR AND WHAT THEY DO, BUT THEY ARE IN GREAT WORKING CONDITION. "

15/16 has a L and R TRS input if you want to use two balanced XLR-TRS cables rather than make an adapter.

This is to prevent a ground loop between two pieces of equipment. Leaving the shield attached to one ground allows it to work.
