  1. http://www.thestoryboard.ca/one-year-factual-tv-director-dies-job-workers-speak-safety/ This brings up a lot of issues thy have been discussed here before, but it's always worthwhile to be mindful concerning safety issues. Marc
  2. I have a client who is looking to hire a local sound mixer in Milwaukee or Madison, Wisconsin this week. Sounds like simple sit down interviews plus transcription recording. Send me your info and I will pass it along to him. marc.hoppe at gmail.com. Thanks Marc
  3. Total pro, he never missed a beat. Marc
  4. I love this app, but lately it's been crashing on me. I'm on an iPhone 4S running ios 7.0.4. Freq Finder version 2.25. When I open it, I can go into TX profiles, but as soon as I try to edit any of the transmitters, the app closes on me, taking me back to the folder it's in or to the phone's home page. Is anyone else experiencing this? Marc
  5. I have the Beyerdynamic velour pads on my 680s. It was a tight fit getting them on, but they've stayed on and are a solid fit. Marc
  6. Very nice work. I've been thinking about a Zuca bag for a little while now. Marc
  7. I use the PSC Powerstar Mini with Switronix NP-1 batteries. Never had a problem with it. Marc
  8. HI Jack, I have 2 12" cables for my ERXs to feed DSLRs. Both have one straight connector and one right angle. Typically I mount the ERX on the shoe and try the right angle end on the camera, but I've had a number of DSLRs that need a real firm push to get the right angle connector into the input, while the straight end works just fine. If I get any real resistance, I use the straight end on there. With every DSLR I've worked with, I've either attached it to the shoe or somewhere onto the rod assembly. Marc
  9. I use the Switronix NP-L60 batteries, found here: http://www.switronix.com/products?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=24&category_id=30
  10. I have 2 of the $45 ones for my Switronix NP-L60 batteries and they are great.
  11. Happy Birthday Larry- Hope you had a great one.
  12. I've had this happen also, and although I have had lengthy discussions with the people at the payroll company, as well as the line producer of the show that it was for, they both said that there was no way around it, despite the fact that they are the only company that I have dealt with that does it that way. Marc
  13. Thanks Mike, I appreciate the simple explanation. Marc
  14. I get that Mike, but is the erx converting it, doing in essence a "pull-up" after being sent 23.98? I wasn't aware that it could receive 1 frame rate and output another, it was just something I tried and it worked. We'll also be slating. Thanks Marc.
  15. I'm shooting an interview on a Canon 1D (primary cam) and the Panasonic P2 Varicam (secondary cam). 1D TC set to 23.98 being fed a scratch track from an erx from Nomad. Hardwire into Varicam. The Varicam is shooting at 23.98, but it is actually a pull down from 29.97. When I tried to feed it 23.98 TC from the erx, I got a warning flashing. When I switched the erx to 29.97, it took the jam fine and appears to be staying in sync. We're not rolling until after lunch so I'll check back then. My question is twofold: 1. What is happening when the erx is receiving 23.98 TC but outputting at 29.97? And 2. What will happen on the timeline when the audio files and the video files are on 2 different frame rates, but the waveforms are exactly the same? Thanks Marc Hoppe
  16. You can "park" 2 screens by using the Menu + Slate buttons and Menu + Com buttons, without having to cycle through all the screen options. Marc
  17. In the case of an external recorder, wouldn't you jam the recorder then? The camera would roll tape at 29.97 and the recorder at whatever you set it at, right? Marc
  18. Is that one of the Panasonic cameras that does a 59.94 fps with a 24P pulldown? I believe you need to be rolling TC at 29.98. Marc
  19. I'm sorry for your loss Jan, you and your family are in my thoughts. Marc
  20. Thanks for posting that Tyler, I know they were crashing to get this together for today's launch- we just finished shooting last Monday. I'll try to find the rest of it online. Marc
  21. Ive done 2 shoots for them and their payroll service is Maslow Media out of DC. Neither job has been paid yet, but I expect payment at the end of this month. Has anyone watched it yet? I spent 7 days working on their launch video- the first hour of programming that they were on the air today- but unfortunately I don't get the channel on my cable system. From everything I saw, I am really looking forward to their news coverage. Marc
  22. I use this one, http://www.adorama.com/LPPRLX100.html It fits into the overhead on most planes, though on a few recent regional jet trips, I had to gate check it. It's very sturdy, holds a ton, and has a TSA lock. It's a well built bag. Marc
  23. Yes, it's a predictably crappy and noisy return with the occasional time code bleed in the return. Tracks are clean, confidence monitoring is not. Marc
