  1. Haven't used it but have talked to a couple folks who have - there's enough delay that it's fairly apparent when used with a boom. And they seem to accentuate sibilance, but then so does some other wireless. Apart from that they sound pretty good
  2. Filmteknic or Kortwich have had a 3 pre for the 633 for a while, thought they may have made a bigger version but can't find annything on the site at moment
  3. Video assist is a tough job - our guys will be managing 20+ monitors with multiple feeds and constantly listening in for instructions + on the fly comping and rough edits
  4. Ah the battery comment was an offhand remark - I'm used to a ipower 9v in a 200c as opposed to a single eneloop aa in the mm400 - I'll be more verbose next time ;-)
  5. I'm heading out the door so don't have a chance to test today - but I found my mic input cable ( which I'd put somewhere safe ) so I can now use my mm400 tx to send to on-camera 411a at mic level - I've been using a um200c at line level previously - wondering if anyone's compared the two for sound quality?
  6. I'd like to volunteer ghost's, specifically of dolphins
  7. huh that was easy - thanks Eric - Ah MM400 mic only I'm told
  8. To use as a hop send - Does anyone know can you do this ? - I'm assuming not since I can't find any info and the minijack is single pole
  9. Except that cut quite often means reset and reset often means cut
  10. can you combine 2 bs90's to make a bs180?
  11. Tried another battery? might be indicating bad battery...
  12. Bag on lightweightish cart integrating with Sonosax board and maybe a quad box - bit to do yet but taking shape.
  13. Anyone used a Stringray harness with a Petrol 604 or similiar? i thinking about it, had a look the other day but almost $500 down here
  14. Thank you for initiating this discussion Jeff
  15. Looks quite like a cos11 - I've liked s couple of other Beyers in the past - Wondering if anyone can comment on how they sound/stand up to field use? Cheers
  16. One of mine seems to do that a bit too - fortunately It hasn't developed further into an issue since it's an expensive mission to send these to US from NZ. I thought it may have been a battery connection issue.
  17. thanks Nick that is exactly what I needed - The local rep is telling me I wouldn't be covered
  18. I've just bought a new in box 8060 on the 2nd hand market, yet to recieve but wondering if anyone has a sense of what serial numbers were/are affected by grounding issues ? Cheers
  19. I haven't been in this biz that long, about 4 years full-time in production and 6 coming up 7 in sound, in that time I've watched several friends kids' grow up without them, said friends go gray, and a couple of friends in the biz die, both well before their time. A couple of years ago something shifted in my focus after I moved through the worst grief from losing one of my best mates at 49. I love working but I love spending time with myself, my wife and my family and friends more. Not coincidentally I think, the jobs started getting better, but I don't work as hard. I don't think I'll ever get 'rich' from this gig, but I feel a whole lot wealthier.
  20. Somebody's paying for products like this along the way somewhere - In this case probably the folks gathering the raw materials and manufacturing it - and when I say 'folks' I mean kids or slaves.
  21. well it's easy to overdo it and suck the life out of the dialog and introduce weird artifacts - but it's a great tool too
  22. I'm not an expert but that's the way the test tones are provided ( at -20dBFS ) so I I've always assumed that's the way to play them down. In saying that 85dB C SPL is way too loud for me - unless you're in a stage this is going to blow your head off - I work to a non-standard 75dB and that's still too loud in the loud bits, but then so is the theater - and it has been translating nicely.
