  1. I would definitely be interested in more than one! How do we go about this? Ayush
  2. Tether Tools : http://tethertools.com I use an older model of what these guys make. The new aerotab looks great. Ayush
  3. Travelling this week but I'll put it up when I'm back. My 8040s (from 2012) are ringless whereas the replaced 8060s and 8050 have a ring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Does your 8060 have the silver ring in between the xlr connector module and the microphone? I got Sennheiser to replace my 8060s and 8050 as a part of warranty replacement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Been using soshine 650's as well for a few years now and they're rock solid. The earlier 600's had problems that seem to have been fixed. Been trying out etinesan 900's for almost a year, no complaints so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi Randy, I've used DPAs with the remote audio micro cat (because of its size) as wind protection mounted to the forehead in a broadway mount style for some wild recordings which had lots of movement - products from bubblebee and rycote would be worth looking at too. I didn't use headbands but hairclips and a piece of tape at the end. I find that the headset mics don't have the same tone and pickup much more sibilance, some times so much so that it feels too close miked at times and not "real". The head mount on the other hand can pickup a lot of nasal sounds/whines especially if your actor has a cold or blocked nose but sounds very much like a boom. Best, Ayush
  7. Hi Constantin, what Tx do you use from the bag? Also - do you not have to change any focus/mono settings on the receiver at all? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I use the sr300 IEM as a stereo transmitter from the cart with G3 IEMs with focus on either channel - L is for mix and R for boom op. I feed my slate mic into the R channel for boom op comms. I've found that heat shrink on the antenna helps keep them straight and protected. I also use 3M car paint protection film on all my IEMs to save them from scratches and drops. In fact I've put them as screen guards on most of my equipment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. David M - The R/A lemo link I posted above are most definitely knock-offs, but they have been rock solid over 6 months of shoot. I had to buy them at the last minute, when the Alexa Mini turned up on a Stab head and so i found these online. Mike - The earlier firmware versions of the Alexa Mini had horrible timecode issues and even the manual stated that TC was mostly unreliable (so was audio over SDI). The new version seems to hold TC well but since i've always had a tentacle mounted on it, i'm happy to go that way. Though with the new firmware updates I'd be more comfortable to now Jam TC at every battery change if I had to. The location of the TC port makes things difficult for re-jams (not as painful as the RED), depending on how they have built the camera. Also, the standard Alexa XT/XR/SXT has an ambient timecode chip inside it, which the mini does not. Best, Ayush
  10. I've been using the Alexa mini for a good few months on a stab head with tentacles for sync. No TC issues what so ever. I bought these off eBay (link below) and modded the tentacle cables. Yes, the cable exits the plug downwards - I wish it was rotatable. The TC plug needs to be pulled out to change cards and the DIT is well aware of this so double checks TC after card changes. I wish the 3.5mm trs on the tentacle was lockable, as in the process of card changes and the cable being pulled I've had that side pop out a couple of times - and so we always check TC after a card change. 11. Ive been using Soshine Li-ion 9V 650mAh and so far the experience has been good. They Power my Denecke PS1A's all day long. There was an earlier 600mah model which was terrible and prone to failures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hi Chris, i've worked on various BBC radio programs in the past. This spec requires that your "program mix be mono compatible". What this means is that L and R should not have out of phase content that could completely cancel out when mixed down to mono. The reference to M and S comes from the tradition of PPM metering, where apart from using the PPM for level you can also set it to MS mode to check mono compatibility. Check out PPMulator as they have a very good software version of both PPM and MS settings. Ive attached a screen shot - If the yellow needle exceeds the white needle then there is out of phase content that will cancel out in mono. Best, Ayush
  13. I've tested a VRfield with BNC out to a PSC multi sma going into a set of SRbs. LPDA and dipole going into VRfield. Worked fine. So i assume it should work for the SL6. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Check Sensor FPS and Project FPS? - Press the info button and choose Fps to view all the set rates. Its usually the first thing i check Ayush
  15. +1 for Belden 1804a, use them with Rean and Switchcraft connectors all the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I've had the same problem with a mkII. Hard wired line in as a scratch track for a plural eyes workflow. Audio would show up on the 5D meters while setting gain but would not get recorded to CF. Internal camera mic would record just fine. Never managed to figure it out. Ended up using the internal mic and a dumb slate for safety.
  17. Just a guess, but in the 7-series the keyboard usb port has always been the flat rectangular type and the cf/drive mounting one has been the squarish type (as seen on the 664). It could just be a CF/SD card mounting port. Exciting machine! Yush
  18. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-18927928 Interesting to see how the developers call this unique. Isn't it how we've been using the Lectro remotes all this while?

  20. My 788t fw800 port started off as intermittent and is now pretty much dead. So i always to use the 400 port and carry a 400-800 cable (since newer MBP's don't have 400's). One of my lacie rugged drives has the same issue.
  21. Hi Senator, i'm using optimal loosely, as in 'standard' - all portable Lectrosonic receivers come with 1/4 wave whips. Why not 1/2 wave? Do you know?
  22. Hi Larry, Following on from what you mention about gain antennas, why is that the whips we use are 1/4wave? On the receiver side, what would happen with a 1/2 wave whip? I've read about the different lobes and patterns but what makes the 1/4 wave whip optimal apart from size? Is it something to do with the ground plane design? Thanks, Yush
  23. Hey Vin, Any tips on trying to make the mics sound less dumb? I have a couple of consecutive serial numbered cos11s and one definitely sounds dumb, and it ends up needing almost 8 more steps of gain on the Lectro SM Tx's. Yush
