  1. Looks good Jack! Really curious about some real world AA battery life tests. Have you had a chance try out any of our common rechargeables yet? Eneloop, imedion, etc?
  2. I switched to these holders for the same reason as everyone else. The old ones were tearing up the ends on each battery. These cases have worked well so far. There is a bit of resistance when the battery is seated that keeps the battery snug. I'm now in the habit of squeezing the case as i put the battery so that contact won't cause the same wear on the battery as with the other case. So far so good... http://www.amazon.com/Modular-Battery-Case-Tactical-Medic/dp/B00BHST9EM/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1443022812&sr=8-33&keywords=AA+battery+case
  3. Ahhh, so the Cam Link (or 742) can't transmit a 2 channel signal using XR, correct?
  4. That is a real bummer since its primary use is a stereo hop receiver. Is this something that isn't possible due to hardware design, or might be changed later?
  5. Since I don't own either an LAS, or LTS, only LA2s and the 742, the 742 is my only stereo option. Not a high priority, but worth an extra cable to make it work. Good point about the breakout cable for the stereo cone. Would probably be easier to just put the resistors in the cable itself. Also like your switch idea. Might have to steal that:)
  6. Great info! Much appreciated. Good to hear you're both having luck with a padded TRX LA cable. That would be way more convenient, although I like the idea of being able to send a stereo board out via 742 to QRX, or even the rx200 ( i think that will work). So, two sets of cables it is. Thanks again!
  7. Good point Constantine. The .wav vs AIFF thing is very odd though. I also have had good luck with referenced omfs, but the potential for mistakes on the editorial end seem higher. I'm hoping to do some tests this week back at the studio.
  8. Since i will soon be all Zaxcom for wireless, once the RX200s hit my doorstep, I won't have the easy line level tx option the Lectros provide. Modding, or using a padded cable for the 742 seems like the easiest, and possibly only option between all the tx. I guess a second cam link could work as well, but I don't want to buy one at the moment. Have any of you modified the standard single xlr, or better yet the stereo cone to take line level? If so, any pics? Are you just using a padded cable? Any other options i haven't thought of? And why the hell is Zaxcom so anti line level? I understand not having it avail on talent tx, although it would be a great feature, but a plug on tx is partly (often primarily) intended ENG use where you're frequently tapping into press boxes etc.
  9. Either way, the original timecode metadata isn't in the omf files, so you're out of luck. I did a test with this a while back when the feature was still fresh, but can't remember if you could use only one identifier with success. I believe you need more than one. It's so rare that i get a project that has used the proper workflow i don't know for sure.
  10. No. Unfortunately Premier, like FCP, does not maintain metadata through the OMF/AAF export process. Really sucks, because Pro Tools has some extremely useful, time saving editing functions that utilize that metadata. Unfortunately Avid is the only edit platform that maintains all metadata through export (that i know of).
  11. Word is, shipping late Sept.
  12. Great tip Abe! I've been on 2464 as a default. No real logic to it except to keep on even numbers. There was word from Zax a while back that even numbered 2.4 freqs were yielding slightly better performance. I'll try the 2424 and see how it goes. j
  13. Hey Matthew- This looks great! Is there any ability to customize the size? I work with DPA 4017s and Sennheiser 8050s, so wouldn't need so much length. Also, wouldn't need to cary 6 at any time. More like 4. I'm guessing this would entail extra labor, to remeasure, but hopefully not much. Thoughts? J
  14. Being able to avoid jockeying around cable on a busy set with frequent moves is actually extremely valuable. In addition, if you work in ENG, or live sports it's a must have.
  15. Yup. Just ordered 2. One issue I ran into is that the KTA-2 wouldn't fit on one of my older poles. Probably about 6 years old. Had the metal rings. K-tek is putting on a new bottom section so that it will work. Dave mentioned that they changed the threading a while back and thought this might have been the issue. Jose- I have a 742 on the way to use with the KTA 2. I'm a little concerned about the stress on the cone when its horizontal. Any issues? Do you use some sort of brace/support? Thanks, J
  16. Experimenting and developing your own custom solution is usually best, but if trial and error is putting you too far behind schedule.... http://www.asoundeffect.com/sound-library/wings/
  17. Looks good Josh. Simple, but effective. I'm doing the same at the moment, for the same reason. I also do quite a bit of post work, so showing examples is a bit more relevant. I'm having a hard time representing each part of my business equally, on the same site. I'll post when finished as well.
  18. Jeesh! Way to show me up Pindrop! Great, inexpensive and light option. I'm stealing it as well:)
  19. Very timely post Jose! I have both mics and the 742 on the way. Was already brainstorming how to get a similar set up. Thanks for the info!
  20. Hey all- I'm helping out one of my favorite clients by lining up a mixer to fill in on the Detroit leg of a tech series shoot. It's going to be primarily 2 hosts, but they will do some interviews that add one, maybe two more talent to the mix on occasion. Shooting on 2 C300s, or possibly 1 C300 and a C100. I've been sending TC to both cams and primary audio to one cam via SRB. These folks are great to work with and really take care of the crew. PM me to let me know if you're available an we'll go from there. Thanks, Jason
  21. Just gave this system a a walk test vs whips. Much cleaner scans and about 20% better range with the dipoles vs whips directly on the rx.
  22. Sounds like I should've done a bit more testing before sending mine back. It's good to hear some others had success with it. I think i'm going to give the 502 a shot. I like the size/form factor for a bag based cart. Constantine- I like the price point of the Lilliput. How is the build quality? My main concern is the threading used to mount to a clamp/arm. Metal/plastic?
  23. Resurrecting this thread as I'm in the market for new monitors and there are quite a few new options since this was last discussed (that i could find). The ergonomics of my cart are such that a small battery powered option would be best if possible. I tried the newer Small HD AC7 SDI, but unfortunately it sprayed a horrendous amount of RF. Basically, when i turned it on all my receivers showed full signal without any of my tx powered. After i sent it back, i realized i should have tested it running off of AC as well. I bought some super cheap Cannon knock off battery's and thought maybe they could have been part of the problem. Anyhow, anyone having success with these or others? 24. There were a batch of bad power switches in a very early run of the Nomad. Unfortunately i received one of them. The new switch that was installed has worked without problem under heavy use. The mirror card has never been an issue of me either. After early production flaw issues were worked out, the Nomad has been great.
