  1. Hey Dave- It would be a real shame to design the nomad bag around the rx 12 imo. I appreciate your concern with trying to be as future proof as possible, but I would guess the amount of users that would appreciate a more compact bag, vs accommodation for a $12000-$13000 receiver unit (that I'm guessing will live on carts the majority of the time), is going to be significantly larger. I know there will be some that would appreciate the option, but I'm guessing they would go the custom bag route anyhow. BTW- I've been using the 633 prototype with the Nomad and love the build quality of the bag. It looks like you already addressed the few minor gripes I have with it in the final version design. I'm sure the Nomad bag will be even more refined.
  2. I switched to the 1350s a couple years ago and have been extremely happy. Super comfortable, great isolation, good build. http://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/djs/dt-1350.html
  3. I'll be happy with record/stop functionality. Anything else is gravy. Good to hear!
  4. The quotes I was referring to are listed below. I agree, after reading them a second time, it is not as clear cut as I remember. I do apologize for saying that I thought Glenn made the statement in such a direct way. The best solution is to use the antenna that is about one foot long to get the RF out of the bag. Our IFB transmission will show up RF problems in analog mixers. We have seen this more in the SD664 especially when touching the input trim knobs. We are looking at a remote antenna mounting kit like our filter antenna arrangement to help get the RF out of the bag and away from gear that is affected. Glenn This problem can be solved one of 2 ways. 1 Get the CL antenna away from the SD664. 2 Call SD and explain the problem. See if they can come up with a modification to fix the problem of the SD664 receiving the Zaxnet signal through the trim knob of the SD664. No sound mixer should act as an RF receiver. Glenn
  5. I get your point regarding the cos-11 and cmit example. It is an argument that makes sense on certain level. The problem with this situation, as you pointed out yourself, is that it seems to happen with Zaxcom gear as well, which you would think they would have tested. In addition, as you pointed out, it seems to come up with all sorts/makes of gear at inconsistent levels. The only consistent thing is the Zaxcom 2.4 tx in some form. That being the case, it's logical to at least consider that the problem could be inconsistent build quality of 3rd party (to Zax) pieces in the bag, or just as easily inconsistent build quality with the Zax gear. Some better shielded/sealed than others. In my case the issue is present with my maxx/IFB 200 set up, but at a low enough level that I consider it manageable. Basically below the noise floor of almost all the locations I work in. I was recently in a nighttime forest where I had to turn the unit down (tx power) in a few locations.
  6. I believe the claim that this is a Sound Devices issue came from Glenn on the Zaxcom forum. Soooo, maybe give him a call with your frustration.
  7. To expect a consumer to do the research necessary to be aware of this particular problem with their exact system is just silly. This issue has popped up with SD mixer/recorders, Zaxcom mixer/recorders, BDS V4 power distros. and various others. The problem is it happens to some with a particular set up, and then not to others using the same/similar configuration. If there is a clear/consistent problem with a manufacturers product interfacing with other current products from other manufacturers, the manufacturer and/or the reseller should make that know to potential buyers. This issue seams to be more random than that which makes it so frustrating.
  8. The reason I ask is that I also use the BDS v4u. Zaxcom says that this is an issue with the build of the power supply, but how can that be the case if we are getting different results from the same power supply? Cables, maybe, but...
  9. I agree. It's great to see that this issue is getting some attention. As others have mentioned, the quick release issue is seems to be the main hurdle. When I've brainstormed this issue myself, I keep leaning towards some type of extendable/collapsable arm that could clamp on the bag itself. Very similar to a camera monitor arm. Something that could extend up about 16-18" out of the bag, but then quickly collapse/fold down when needed. Anyhow, I'm open to whatever ends up working the best. Keep them ideas coming.
  10. Hey Jack- Any concern with QRX200 not being able to vent properly? In the last configuration it looks like the vent holes will be covered by the the bag/411a. Maybe I'm being too cautious with always giving mine some room.
  11. YES! But it was louder in my situation. Again, I was on the field of an NFL game, so likely quite a bit more rf going on.
  12. In my limited experience with the HM i had some odd interference issues. It was during the NFC West championship game, so pretty heavy rf minefield. I tested out my approved frequencies in different areas inside the stadium with no problem, but as soon as i hit the field i got this weird high end wine type interference. It wasn't like usual rf hits, and it sounded the same on all frequencies so I think it was something responding on the body of the tx itself. I mentioned this to the guy i rented it from and he said he had noticed it himself on few rare occasions.
  13. Since Michael took mine right off the bat, I'll have to list my very close second... True Romance_Hopper/Walken https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3yon2GyoiM
  14. Just to be clear and fair. I have never had an issue with Zax taking too long to repair any product. They have done so quickly, and effectively and without any second guessing of the issue. It's only the amount of repairs/recalls that I have problem with.
  15. Very interested as well. I just happened to contact the US distributor regarding getting a trial last week. This test might save me some time.
  16. I'm not referring to quirks. I'm referring to equipment failure and their attitude towards it. I have a complete Zax system as well. Recorders and wireless. The majority of it has needed repair, or replacement within the first year. That is why when heard about this issue, especially after I had been considering buying one, it didn't surprise me.
  17. Not the point really. It's the aditude that they take when clearly defined problems like this come up. Denial. Needs to change for them to really progress as a company.
  18. So another piece of Zax gear has an obvious design flaw and they are denying it? Shocker.
  19. If you combined the two you'd have a winner. The dust cover, with a clear top section and elastic openings on each side for your hands. No need for the apron.
  20. For me, the SRB with either SMQV, or 400 series tx is still has the best combo of versatility, reliability, and sound quality. The small form factor with both batt sled and external powering options covers more bases. Most of the time these days I'm putting a hop on a C300, or some other small cam that doesn't have an option for me to tap power from. Having the SRB with batt sled you know you're covered no matter what cam you get. I still don't like the fact the the QRX doesn't have a solid battery power option. I know people are experimenting with some lithium packs, but it's just not as solid as the lector option yet. The other thing is durability. I use all Zax wireless now, from IFB to talent mics, so don't get me wrong I love the stuff, but having a receiver on a camera that has open vent holes makes me nervous. Not that the SRB is waterproof, but I feel a bit better about it. I'm hoping Zax comes up with a better hop solution soon. When they do, I'm on board for sure.
  21. Also, it looks like the new Orca and K-Tek bags have aluminum framing where you mounted your BNCs. Might give a better/more ridged mounting point.
  22. I like the concept. What are you doing for Zaxnet tx? I don't see room for the Nomad antenna.
