  1. Did you make sure you were sending it at mic level and not the default line level from the Tentacle? How does it sound when you play back the Canon video clips? Do you have DaVinci Resolve?
  2. Thanks Klaus, that was really informative.
  3. I was quite impressed by their video advert I saw on Instagram yesterday.
  4. It is just a frequency. Like VHF vs UHF, they have inherent characteristics. But what matters much more is the details of how a particular system is implemented. And this is true worldwide, making it good choice for those who travel a lot as they know it will be legal wherever they end up.
  5. That is a really good and thorough reply Andrew. Got to know all the variables of the test before judging it.
  6. They're microDot connectors, already very commonly used by many in the industry, such as DPA.
  7. I wonder if Sony ever made a recorder with timecode, quite possibly one slipped by us. There is for instance that pro mixer (the Sony DMX-P01) which even has AES, so I bet if Sony had just carried that on into the future a bit longer then I'm sure Sony would have made one with timecode.
  8. Ah, so what is the 100 mode for then? The older 190?!
  9. Am pretty sure you could, but you'd need to set the SM TX to 100 mode compatibility. Not a setup I'd recommend, unless you're in a real pinch! At the very least buy a Lectro 200 series RX (which are dirt cheap on ebay!), so that you get diversity receivers and frequency agility.
  10. What makes four the "magic number"? For many people having one or two full size XLR inputs for a hardwired boom or two is sufficient, and the rest are wireless. Thus to have three is a comfortable number with a bit of an extra buffer spare. (especially if the extra channels still keep limiters as an option with them, rather than being removed for channels 4/5/6 like on the 633) For ambisonics though having 4 is the "magic number", but I'd be fine with having a "633 mk2" as my main machine and pulling out a Zoom F8n on the rare occasion I'm recording ambisonics.

    nova!

Which is the perfect example for using Cedar DNS2: live streaming
  12. Well, not just the "vision" of the parent company, but also if the parent company takes a hard line attitude to quality control with an active hands on approach of managing then that can make a massive difference to the end result.
  13. If you're cost conscious, which is likely if you're pairing them with a G3, then a Deity lav or Oscar SoundTech lav makes sense. http://www.oscarsoundtech.com/services.html
  14. I imagine a "Scorpio Mini" must happen, as I kinda see the Scorpio as a "688 mk2" (well, it is also a "788T mk2" as well for some people). Thus it is only logical that something which is a "633 mk2" comes along, that brings some of the advancements of the newer Scorpio generation but in a smaller and more scaled back packed. As the 633 must be Sound Devices' best selling recorder ever (well, until the MixPre series came along!). Thus it is only logical that at some point in time they'll update the 633 and release a "Scorpio Micro", the only question is when..... later this year (unlikely), or in five years from now (unlikely), or somewhere in between those dates? (likely) Am also curious when the Zaxcom Mava will be announced? ("Mava" = MAxx + deVA)
  15. I thought the nanoKontrol2 only worked with the MixPre series, but judging by the photo and the date of this post, then that isn't possible. Can you use the nanoKontrol2 with the 688 as well??????
  16. Judd discusses with Jones the W Lav during this video:
