  1. Completely compatible as Wisycom will remain analog (with digital DSP) for a while. Compatibility with many companders, including from other brands, is one of their major strengths.
  2. Sure, like you, I am not in the position to buy gear at the moment, but I found this funny. It looks like the very serious Schoeps company takes lessons at Apple marketing dept. and begin to play the game of exclusivities and limited offers. Fair enough, owning a Schoeps is like owning a fine mechanical watch, even if it’s primary a tool for us. I hope they will propose these blue edition later when we will all resume to normal business.
  3. Here is a screenshot of the presentation. The french text says: Monitor and control Tx and Rx via USB-C or Bluetooth 5 (range more than 300 metres) on Wisycom Manager 2.0 (on a PC) Among the smallest transmitters in the world. Rounded shape. Optional internal recording that can be extracted via waterproof USB-C or Bluetooth. 48v Phantom power. As far as I can see, but not more than you, it seems the form factor is the same as the Sony DWT-B03r https://pro.sony/en_EE/products/dwx-digital-series-transmitters/dwt-b03r But this is a very preliminary information, I think they are just in the development phase, nothing to wait before a while. I generally don’t share rumours, but this was presented online on a free access meeting by the official french distributor, so I think we can trust this information.
  4. For those who like to match the colour of their microphones, Schoeps has presented yesterday, during the Sound Summit, the Blue Colette Set. Included are a CMC1 + Cut60 + MK41 in a rugged Peli box + a B5D + SG20. This is a limited edition, only 100 pieces at the retail price of 2070$. I don’t know why, but I think the gear acquisition syndrome will soon hit me....
  5. Wisy's user interface can be a bit confusing for the newcomer but when you get used to it, it's no big deal. There are fixed pre-programmed banks but also free ones, so you can tune precisely manually. The multi-compander function is sooooo useful. Recently, for a doco, I had to record a speech. Instead of trying to get the sound from the PA, I just checked the frequency of their mic, put my Wisy receiver on HDX and I received their signal without any hicup. For those who are interested, during a Zoom conference with the french distributor a few weeks ago, he confirmed and showed preliminary pictures of the new miniature transmitters they are working on.
  6. Sennheiser HD26 Pro since 5, 6 years. Same as you, I have used several brands and models since 30 years, but the HD26 is my preferred one so far. I haven’t try the Neumann yet but have read good reviews.
  7. It’s a chock for all the french speaking cinema community. Our renown Belgian colleague Marc Engels passed away two day ago, due to the Virus. Marc was 54 and won the Cesar of the french academy for best sound in 2017 for the film “L’Odyssee”. All of us here are devasted by this sad news. My thoughts for his family.
  8. +1 for the MKH30, best possible match with the 8040s. I had very good results with double MS, especially thanks to the excellent free plugin by Schoeps https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/schoeps_double_ms.html The only drawback with double MS is that your are stuck in the horizontal plan, or you have to ad a figure of 8 vertically witch is less than practical. Cinela and Rycote offers excellent sollutions for double MS.
  9. You are absolutely right. With AES input and TC included, it’s the perfect combo for a really light, no compromise recoding system.
  10. I love the name suggestion R2D2....
  11. If Sonosax could ad a simple SD card and a recording function, for the version 2, that would be huge !
  12. It-s a long time since I have listened to it and I havn't made any direct comparison, but I assume that the hiss is too high regarding nowadays standards. What I loved at that time were the filters, especially the LFA and the kind of tape soft compression.
  13. The MCR42 can output AES3 or analog. No worries to use it with a F8.
  14. My trusted and still perfectly working Nagra IV-S from 1978. I own it since 1992 and have recorded several films, docos and ads until the appearance of the 744T.
  15. Very clever and nice setup !
  16. Hi Masaki, good tip ! Thanks for the information.
  17. That’s also why I still use my old Kortwich bag, light, well organised and really good quality, like new after so many years. I tried the K-Tek but they are so heavy that my back refuse to use this, even if I found the side pockets rally well tought. unfortunately, Kortwich doesn’t make bags anymore. I think the guy in charge is retired now.
  18. As the planes are mostly grounded and the traffic is reduced, it's time to record quiet nature atmos that are impossible by regular times....
  19. I don’t have my machine with me so I can’t try, but does it work if you change the TC mode to external before switching off ?
  20. The firmware update 3.21 for the 8 series includes now the compatibility of SD Remote with iPads running iOS 13.
  21. Hi Vita, I won't be at Prolight, but I've seen your booms are available at Audiosense in Brussels. I will visit them soon, I'll take the opportunity to try the Panamics. Thanks. H
  22. Ben, As you are located in Switzerland, you can use radio microphones up to 250 mW in the 477-694 MHz band without a specific licence. There are just some frequency restrictions. https://www.ofcomnet.ch/api/rir/1009/11 At 50 mW, no restrictions, but you should coordinate with frequency managers on certain events via the website https://pmse-db.ch/ Henri
  23. Mathias, I Have worked with Ambient’s since many years and have been very satisfied with it. As you mentioned that Panamic is your first choice, could you explain for what reason? I have to replace an old Ambient but Panamic are only available on the Internet here in Switzerland and it’s tricky to buy a boom pole without trying it. Many thanks Henri
  24. I would recommend the reading of “dialog editing for motion pictures” written by John Purcell. A gold mine with all the answers to your questions.
