  1. I feel kind of relieved. Thank you Larry and everyone else. These are great advices that I'll be sure to follow from now on. About the green/blue stuff, do you know what it is exactly?
  2. Hello everyone, I'shooting now in one of the hottest places in Brazil. Yesterday, I guess I paid the price. I started listening some static noise coming from one of my lma transmitters. I went to check out and somehow sweat got into the lma connector. It looked really nasty, some blue/green stuff. I've cleaned with alcohol; afterwards I drank some also. It looks much better this morning and it functions properly, but I don't want to keep my expectations too high. The green stuff means it has oxidized, right? Death sentence for the lma?
  3. Thank you, Jack! Thank you, Mark! As soon as I get back to Rio, I'll try to find one of those. I still have two weeks on the road, in the middle of nowhere before that.
  4. Thank you, Jack. What kind of battery is this? Can I find it easily?
  5. This is happening recently. I detach the external battery overnight and then the next morning I get this message at startup, something like "rtc chip settings" (I couldn't read it all). Time and date info are gone. For the rest of the day, the recorder functions properly. I have a Nomad 8, firmware version 4.45.
  6. Hi, Wang Got exactly the same config on my pre-made cable. The only difference is that instead of a 3,5 mm plug, I've got a xlr unbalanced. Thanks
  7. Where did you guys mount the hop? It doesn't look there is much space.
  8. I'll try that, John Paul, thanks! My config didn't work by the way.
  9. Anyone knows the specs for the Alexa then? Google didn't help
  10. Hi, Rich It's not easy to find a lemo connector around here and I need to make this cable for the day after tomorow. Also, most of the alexas that we use here come already with the xlr adaptor, it's pretty standard around here. As I've already mentioned it's a timecode in cable.
  11. Hi, The camera department has already a xlr-lemo 5 adaptor. I need to make a bnc- xlr cable to get timecode from Nomad to Alexa. The wiring would be as simple as this? 1 and 3 jumped to sleeve 2 (hot) pin signal
  12. The hat failed this time. Happy New Year makes no sense when we're talking about an input overload
  13. If I got this, there is no reason to worry about. Thank you, Howy.
  14. I only got rhe message. Everything else seemed fine. Restart the nomad and didn't get the message again until now.
  15. Got this message today. The input wasnt even being used and the trim was way down. What does it mean then?
  16. Thank you, Jack. Should I contact Zaxcom for a spare or is there a standard connector that I could buy from any store?
  17. I tried to make another line cable from the g3 to the alexa audio input (xlr 5 pin balanced), for only one channel, and the same approach didn't work. What worked was a simple balanced connection: tip to three (negative), ring to two (hot), shield to one.
  18. Everyday when work was finished and I had to pack my equipment. Pluging back in became extremely dificult about 3 months ago. I've finally got a cup to tay firmly attached and I haven't touched since then; no more bad connection problems as well. But I must I say prefer to change the connector. A skilled technician could do it without a problem in your opinion? The procedure seems quite simple but I;ve never opened my Nomad to see what's inside.
  19. Cold wire replacing hot wire, got it.
  20. The hirose conector of my Nomad 8 is a little worn out. It still works but I already had problems with it. I'm in Brazil, so sending the unit to Zaxcom for repair is not that easy, even it is the ideal solution. I wonder of it's possible to buy something like that http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/293010-REG/Sound_Devices_XL_H_Hirose_4_pin_Power_Connector.html And ask for a technician here in Brazil to replace it.
  21. I use these with cos-11s, but just using the foam that came with the windjammer over the microphone and putting it inside isn't enough to hold the lav for a long time. Very frequently, the microphone falls from the windjammer. If any of you have a method to avoid this, please show (with nice pictures, if possible) and tell.
