  1. For a new general, all purpose, library, something to compete with the venerable oldies Sound Ideas and Hollywood Edge, this might be worth to listen to: http://designingsound.org/2013/12/a-second-look-at-the-hybrid-library/
  2. Thank you, Rick. Maybe I've got this wrong in the first place. I thought that the negative/cold cable that should be wired to the sleeve no matter what. In fact, it's the shield cable that must be soldered to the tip. I do just like in the xlr? Half of the shield cable on the tip, the other half on the sleeve (as in shield on 1 and 3 on the xlr). The negative cable could just stay loosen? And, to answer your question, yes, the resistor was put there for attenuation.
  3. Hi, I've recently tried to make a wireless boom config using a mm1 and a g3. I've made a mini-jack - xlr female cable using some of the specifications mentioned in another threads of this forum: shield to 1 and 3 on the xlr, hot on 2; hot on ring on the mini, shield/ground and negative/cold cable to sleeve. I did also a variation with a 18Kohm, 1/8 watt resistor on the hot cable. I've got sound on both situations but it's not great, I must say. There is a little hiss, maybe neglieable in a exterior shoot, where I intend to use this set up, but what disturbs me the most is the timbre of the sound itself. It lacks low end information (double checked; no filters), a little "hollow" in my opinion. I don't think the sound is distorted, it's more like a very subtil case of phasing... Is this the normal thing or I should do something about the cables? Anyone with this setup that could shed some light on this?
  4. The manual isn't a 100% clear, so that's why I'm asking this here. Only the ERXTCD works with Nomad as a trasnmitter using Zaxnet, not the ERX?

    ERX blocks?

When I go to Gotham Sound, they show me these various options for ERX blocks, but I'm almost sure that there is only one block for this system, right? Bad website, I guess.
  6. I guess it's the cable as well. Ironically this is the one that came with the unit.
  7. Hi, I did heard something but it sounded terrible. Not only I've cranked it up the gain on the g3 as I did it in the input level of the return but it just sounds pretty awful. Nevertheless, the g3 works fine in any other inputs of the Nomad, even if they're set to line level. I guess that there is something going terribly wrong between the G3's mini-jack as it is and the ta-5 connector, some kind of incompatibility as Jeff has stated.
  8. I have a job where I'll need to use the return input of my Nomad 8 for an extra radio mic but I can't get any audio from my sennheiser g3 into the input. - The g3 is ok; - Routing is ok; - The return input connector on Nomad is ok, no physical damage whatsoever; - My cables are ok - at least for any other thing that is not the g3. As a test, I fed audio from a zoom recorder into the return input; i've sent audio from my notebook headphone output as well and everything works using the cables. The only thing that doesn't work with this input and cables is the g3 (for anything else, the g3 is fine as well). My cables are the mini-jack-mini jack that came with the g3, a mini-jack female - ta-5 female adaptor from remote audio (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/884884-REG/Remote_Audio_ca1_8ft5f_3_5mm_Female_to_TA5F.html). What could be wrong here?
  9. Thank you for answering. I've just wrote to PSC asking them about the amp. I need to buy also a consumer antenna to replace the one that came with Nomad (I've lost the original, don't ask me how, I already feel pretty stupid). This one at french ebay seem adequate and with the proper connector: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/SMA-2-4GHz-Router-Antenna-WLAN-Wifi-Aerial-SMA-omni-signal-booster-7dBi-/251372289231?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones_Communication_Radio_Antennas&hash=item3a86f4bccf
  10. Sorry, I didn't get it. What's an n connector? If get them both, the a antenna and the lcom amp, I would still have to do something about the cabling? What exactly? I thought that the distinction between a RP-SMA and a SMA connector would be simply one like a female-male thing, without the pin and with the pin - something like that was stated on this thread. I'm looking for a light, portable, bag solution. I'm not sure if that is one...
  11. Hi Wandering Ear, Thank you for answering. Which amp, may I ask? And what do you mean by proper cabling? A RP-SMA - SMA adaptor wouldn't be sufficient?
  12. This connector is already the right one to use with Nomad?
  13. Would you recommend one? I would like to send the scene and take metadata as well via ERX2TCD. Cheers, Rodrigo

  15. I've watched the video with the cc coiled cable boom but I don't think is the same procedure.
  16. It's carbon fiber also: K-Tek K-202CCR 5-Section Graphite Fiber Boom Pole
  17. I guess its a ccr. The connector is on the side and not in the bottom
  18. Thank you for answering, Glenn. Good news is that I've turned on the unit and eveything seems to be fine.
  19. I think I'experimentig this. My k-tek has grown on size. Is there an easy fix to this?
  20. How is sealed? What are the chances of water getting into the intrrnal circuitry. Nomad was off when this accident happened.
  21. I've rinced the unit with alcohol; opened it, no signal of water on the inside; left open in a bag with silica gel I'rinced only the connector
  22. When I open the unit what shoul I look for? When I open the unit what should I look for?
  23. Larry, is there a big possibilty that a moderate spill would get in the internal circuitry of a lma?
  24. It was just a spill. It seems the most wet areas were nomad's front panel and the connector of my lma transmitter.
