  1. I would go with an Oktava, especially a modded one. Very close to a schoeps sonically. Like Phillip said, you need an excellent shockmount and boom operator. Nothing will beat a schoeps though...
  2. I have one regular cmit and one mini cmit and I actually miss hearing it with the mini. I’ve gotten so accustomed to the fart. My boom op calls it the “Schoeps shart.”
  3. Currently an 833, an SL-2 with two SRCs, Blackmagic dual monitor, Icon control surface, a Zaxcom Camera Link, and a Comtek BST-75-216. Can get a whole day on it. battery is on the bottom and the hot box is fastened to the cart behind the bag.
  4. Sad to read about the passing of Rupert Neve today. The soundtrack to mine, and many others lives were recorded and mixed on a Neve. While not too popular with us I always loved hearing from the handful of Mixers who did used them on a cart. Seemed so exotic!
  5. My small cart consists of a pelican battery and a Remote Audio Hotbox. Works fantastic!
  6. If there is post I don’t think about it. they have the tools to shape it any way they want. Honestly, if I can get a boom close enough to get proximity effect I’m pretty happy! live broadcast to no-post (ugh) stuff I will EQ the low end a bit to even it out if the mic is too close.
  7. All three. You still need to know your RF for them to work properly, but they perform phenomenally, sound fantastic, and are built like tanks.
  8. I started with 4 used 411s and 4 used UM400a s. They are still rock solid and never let me down. Sound and perform just as good as my SMs. I would highly recommend them over the AVX, G3/G4, UWP etc and probably won’t cost you that much more.
  9. The Cinela OSIX is great with the 8040/50. Don’t own an 8050 but have boomed with that combo and it was great!
  10. Recorder/Mixer: Sound Devices, Zax, Sonosax, Aaton Cantar Wireless: Lectrosonics, Zaxcom, Wisycom, Audio LTD. Mics: Schoeps, Sennheiser (not the cheap stuff), DPA, Sanken Im sure I left some out, but it's a good starting place.
  11. I hope they make one but I'm thinking it may not happen. It seems like they are focusing on their digital line and including analog compatibility as a way to keep the analog users happy until everyone transitions to digital. And there is no way they are going to make a 4 channel SR that is digital and analog (directly competes with the DSQD). I hope I'm wrong though.
  12. SD and Zax options are still fairly early in their lifecycle so you may be waiting a while. What kind of work do you do?
  13. The Deitys sound remarkably good for the price point. If range and WiFi band saturation weren’t such an issue I’d feel fine using them alongside my Lectros.
  14. Is the indoor Cosi available yet? Haven’t seen it anywhere.
  15. Rycote makes a model called the 416 that fits a 416 perfectly. I think it’s in between a WS 3 and 4.
  16. Oh yeah, the speaker. I forgot about that.
  17. Aren’t you describing the URX100? It costs a little more and has a sma connector.
  18. I think the Zaxcom TRXFB3 does that. I think its made for talent IFB and is way out of the price range for a standard IFB unit.
  19. It would be really cool to see a rack mount until with multiple CL3s in it.
  20. Thanks Cody! That's really helpful to know. Are you using a wb or narrow Venue? And yes, I anxiously await for Larry to chime in.
  21. Thinking about picking up a Venue. I have always used SRcs on my cart with an RF distro and have been mostly satisfied with the range, but I'm wondering just how much performance I might gain/notice with the VRTs.
  22. We used a g3 with only talkback routed to it going into the aux input.
  23. We used an MM1 with a UM400a for years and powered the MM1 with two eneloop pro AA batteries and not one time did it die before lunch. Probably could have run it long after lunch.
