  1. Does anyone have any recommendations for kit insurance? I'm UK based. Thanks.
  2. I'm off to China and Singapore next. What are the legal wireless frequencies out there? Anyone know please?
  3. Hi Guys, what are the legal wireless frequencies in France please?
  4. Hey Dalton, yeah an M/S rig would have been cool.
  5. Hey Guys, what do I need to utilise Shark Fin Antennas from my bag/cart? I run 3 Micron Explorers and want to increase the range. I've seen passive and active antennas and also distribution units. I need a simple straightforward solution please. P.
  6. Hey Guys, thought this may be of interest. I've just done a fun job recording a Jaguar F Type Race Car. (see photo below) Some of the audio was captured by mics placed in and around the car, however, the fun part was being strapped into the back of the follow truck (a V8 Dodge) whilst we went round the track with the car in hot pursuit. So, I planted a Zoom H4N in the engine bay with a Sure SM58. I planted a Sanken Cos11 on the interior centre console of the jag, attached to a Micron TX and another identical rig on the rear of the car at a centre point between the exhaust tail pipes. I dialled down the gain on the Zoom H4N to 10 and set the Micron TXs to level 1. These are pretty much the lowest gain settings I could get. The Zoom rig was just a "set and go", but the results were great. I had scope on my SD 633 to dial up decent levels for the Microns and again the results were good. I was unsure if the Cos11 on the back of the car would cope with the SPL from the exhaust level but it coped remarkably well. I used my trusty Rode NTG-3 for the follow shots and later on I captured some really cool "fly bys". Has anyone done something similar and how did you do it? Would be very interested to hear from you. Paul. PS. I had a very happy client!
  7. Hi Guys, I've got a couple of trips coming up. What are the allowed wireless frequencies in Germany and R.O.Ireland? Will I need a license? Thanks................
  8. Hey Guys, I'm considering an upgrade of my wireless kit. I started with Sennheiser G3s and now run 3 Micron Explorers which have limiters. I use the G3s for headphone sends and wireless hops. I like the look of the Lectrosonics systems but they are soooooo expensive. What would I gain by upgrading? I work on a variety of shoots including Film, TV and corporate. Would love all your thoughts.
  9. Hey Guys, what is the best "reporters" mic? What about the Rode Reporters mic? I have a wireless Sennheiser e835 which sounds OK, it's cardioid and the Rode is omni, what do you think?
  10. Thanks guys, great advice. One last question..........how do I carry my boom pole? Hand luggage as an extra? I have a Rode carbon boom pole and I still have the plastic tube it came in.......???
  11. Hey Guys, my trip to Dubai is looming. Any tips on flying with your sound bag as hand luggage and checking in a large Peli case? A bit confused on which type of battery you can carry on the plane; I use a Swit NP-1 Li-lion 14.4v. I'm flying with B.A. from London Heathrow.
  12. I have a SD 633 and want to run a Micron Explorer receiver into the line in TA3 on channels 4,5,or 6. Can I just re-terminate the Micron output cable (RX AOCH-HR4......just signal, no power) to a TA3. I've noticed the Micron cable has a "ground Jumper"; a TA3 can't be wired the same. Any thoughts?
  13. Hey Guys, I need to clamp my iPad Mini onto my sound cart. Any ideas? Products? I'm in the UK. Thanks,
