  1. very excited for these, have been waiting a long time for a sm wideband, purchasing many.....but recorder aspect leaves me scratching my head, was a neat idea if it recorded while transmitting, but either/or tx, no TC and 44.1 makes it unusable in any forseeable scenario...can someone give me an example where this has any purpose? closest i can come up with is corporate meetings for dictation purposes, cant see any usage in our world..... 2. the 4-6 gain staging is an annoyance i wish i didnt have to be cognizant of when using the 633, but i prefer bearing that mental weight instead of humping around a 664/8 for 5 clip free iso's on the too regular 14 hour days i work on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. It feels to me we long ago passed the point of needing to be concerned about audio quality on recorders.... we are usually recording people speaking and background atmosphere in this line of work and i cant think of a recorder put out in the last decade that wasnt high quality enough for those tasks....our jobs are about caring more than everyone else about sound and sweating the small stuff, but so is lectros really, its hard to conceive they would release something that didnt pass all our quality requirements by a large margin..... will probably pick one of these up shortly while quietly bemoaning the fact its a couple features (2 track ability/tc out/tx option) short of being a do it all gamechanger Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hi Karl, its an SRC C1. Serial #1034. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. i am afraid i have bad news to report with my src experience. there are issues present in these units. i work with a cameraman who has his own hops he likes me to use. the rate stays the same so im happy to oblige. i have used my srbs and his audio limited transmitters for years with zero issues. since 'upgrading' to the src, i am getting random rf dropouts and hits, i lost a line with talent when a hit came out of nowhere. i have gone back to the srb being my main unit and the src as number two....there is something problematic happening that is beyond my ability to solve in the src.....i am including pics below to show the difference in what the src and srb are receiving in interference in my bag setup Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi Karl, All my lavs are wired servo only, I phoned lectro support prior to ordering the mca5x to ask specifically if the wiring would work with this and was told the wiring would make no difference, which was incorrect it seems.... here is a link to the cmr to explain what it is, http://www.schoeps.de/en/products/cmr I have used it with an sm/smqv successfully without incidence, save for sensitivity to interference on the cable, I dropped the hma power to 5v, but it does not like the hma at all...polarity reverse is a great idea, I will try that out and report back
  7. tried using hma with mca5x adaptor and my sanken lavs, no dice, no sound, any ideas? also my schoeps cmr not only doesnt work, it pins the volume to max, and makes a sound like a oscillator on its deathbed...any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. there was a post somewhere on jwsound about an AES endplate being in the works for the distant future, knowing the Lectro crew are frequenting these boards may I make a far fetched request that if there is any possible way to make a switchable endplate version that can do analog/aes this would be an amazing thing? love aes and hope to see it on more cameras, but if you never know day to day what you are patching into, an aes plate is not going to be a good default plate. something you can switch on a job to job basis though.....(this could also hold true for bagged sr to mixer as well) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. had this happen a couple times in the past prior to 1.03 or .04 so its not a new firmware issue. seemed to manifest a couple times after a lockup/force reboot….or dates were precursor to the lock up, one or the other…..
  10. this is really really great, thanks for the link, slow descent into madness
  11. really agree with points posted above (price/photos/kit names/order numbers), i use a lot of odd one off ish ambient bits and they work incredibly well for me, but aquiring them involves more research and troubleshooting than most people have time for...a lot of people comment to me on how well thought these various ambient 'solutions' i have are, but if they aren't in stock, have to be special ordered, and the price is more or less unknown even at speciality stores, it's hard to sell people on them huge ambient fan and user, look fwd to seeing them make more inroads in n america
  12. Havent listened yet, but with a title like that you know it's going to be good http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03lnzxh
  13. My battery life is horrific in ios7, thank god for bds usb
  14. I use global media np1s with my 664 and they work perfectly. With the 552 you had to power off internals first then switch to ext after boot up, not the case with the 664. I plan to buy more of the new higher capacity globalmedia np1s after 4 years satisfaction with my first ones
  15. Instead of turning camera audio gain full up, put it up only a touch, now pull the 552 rtn gain way up to hear that feed, you should hear a click like a metronome...at regular levels its usually below an audible noise floor but its still there, I just run audio level at full and pull back on 552 and try to ignore it
  16. I think it's always there on xdcams, I also remember hearing it or something equally off putting on the 5 pin rtn, have just tried to get used to it, always unpleasant to hear it on rtn still...
  17. any other pics of the 'special bag' out there? curious what the front zipper area and NP1 storage is like on this
