    SMD vs SMV

Older SMD have also a fixed low cut filter.

    interference ?

Yes, good call, thanks. This is the weakest point in the chain (in theory), so the first thing I changed each time the problem occurred. To no avail unfortunately.

    interference ?

No, locations were different each time. I'm based in Quebec, and problems have been in Montreal or around, and in Quebec city. What baffles me is that it's not the usual interference "hits", but intermittent muting of the sound. On blocks 23, 470 and 944. On more than 6 different locations. On and off so fast that you don't have time to document anything. I moved things around in the bag, particularly the block 23 SR receiver which I suspect faulty (my retailer informed me today that they received the new one, so Larry, you'll receive the *maybe* faulty one very soon) Jean-Paul Bataille http://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/ "The Drop G Swing Studies" http://youtube.com/batzic

    interference ?

Thanks guys. I got a bag consisting of 3 Lectro SR receivers with 6 SM and 2 UH400 transmitters (blocks 470, 23 & 24), and camera hop with 2 UM450 and a SR (block 944) Everything is powered by NP1 thru a BDS box (except the SR on the camera powered by the camera itself) Mixer is SQN The 2 UM450 are as far as possible from the receivers, in an external pouch clipped on the bag. I use a LMa transmitter and a UCR100 as mono monitor from the camera on block 22 (the LMa is at the back of the camera, the SR receiver being in a pouch at the front, at least 10" between them) Everything is working fine since more than one year, except some freaking seconds when one of the receivers goes silent during a brief moment. On one of the receiver (block 23), only on the output 2. A few time, enough to see the pilot tone flashing (so it's muting) when by passing the pilot tone, sound recovers (I'm not even sure of that because the trouble is intermittent, very short, and appears obviously at the worst moment when you don't have any time to calmly track down the trouble, but you are busy to simply make the shoot happen, you know the thrill) I concluded that particular SR was faulty, plan to send it to the mothership, so ordered a new one to replace it (not received yet) (and will have use for it anyway, I got 4 transmitters on this block) But since, same behaviour on the block 470 (one time, but a scan shows activity on that block) and, worst, on the camera hop (block 944, don't have much use here in Canada, but on that particular location, at that moment, when shutting down the transmitters, the RF signal visual monitor was present on the window of the SR on the camera. Sorry but I didn't scan, I was running to pull out a cable from my case in the van...) I'm trying to find something in common between all this. As long as it was the same receiver, the same output, the same problem occuring with three different transmitters, things were (apparently) simple. Now... my question : can a radio interference (of unknown source) can completely silence a transmitter/receiver system during a few seconds ? interference ?

Maybe a dumb question, but... I try to track down some weird behavior on my equipment: Can a radio interference (of unknown source) can completely silence a transmitter/receiver system during a few seconds ? Sound is off, then on, then off, etc... randomly. On several system, on different blocks, not the same day, not the same location, but symptoms are similar. Intermittent. No way to reproduce it back home. I even got to the point where I hook up everything with different sound source for each transmitter (to know the one is wrong) and record the output on a computer during 8 hours. Nada. I hope the collective brain will lighten me. Thanks. Jean-Paul Bataille http://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/ "The Drop G Swing Studies" http://youtube.com/batzic
  7. Last time I was there, I used block 21, 24 & 26 without trouble. Jean-Paul Bataille http://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/ "The Drop G Swing Studies" http://youtube.com/batzic

  9. I should have add that : - for the type of work involved, it makes great sense to have a camera mic assigned to its own track at anytime, *and* a receiver feeding discreetly another track, *and* at the same time the rear inputs receiving a mixer signal - I make my own cable myself, always did, so what I'm basically asking is confirmation that Panasonic is using the "standard" stereo wiring (1=grd, 2=L+, 3=L-, 4=R+, 5=R-), as it should - and maybe if someone encountered some special behaviour on those input and output that he would like to share Jean-Paul Bataille http://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/ "The Drop G Swing Studies" http://youtube.com/batzic
  10. I have to work with the HPX2700 Panasonic I want to use the front mic input, which is a 5 pins female XLR Am I right to assume pin 1 is ground, 2 is hot Left, 3 return Left, 4 hot Right and 5 return Right ? I also want to monitor with the rear 5 pins male XLR Is this the same than above ? (1 ground, 2 hot L, 3 ret L, 4 hot R, 5 ret R) It should be, but how knows... I don't find the info on the manual, and I don't have the camera at hand. I understand this front mic input is intended for a stereo mic, but I want to use a mono camera mic on one track, and a receiver on the other, so I'm ready to make a small pigtail to accomodate my needs. Is the phantom power available only on the two inputs at the same time, or is it possible to have phantom only on one input ?
