  1. @The Immoral Mr Teas Jez, I remember that the two volumes of Mike's book should be around 50€ (the both), if i'm not mistaken. Mike is still based close to Paris, working on his fields of interest, stereo and 3D audio ! His email is on his website, if you want to contact him.
  2. Hi all FYI, new updated edition of Mike Williams's books, including new chapter on 3D audio. "WilliamsMMAD - Stereo, Surround & 3D Audio" Just bought, but not yet read, seems quite interesting... https://www.williamsmmad.com/Books/Books.html
  3. @IronFilm thank you for this detailled roadmap ! I have to refresh my engineer background and mathematical skills... I will take me several months (years ?) 😉 I formerly trained in video compression and codecs, and would like now to have some knowledge in audio codecs to better understand how they work and to optimize my own audio compression parameters. A related topic is : are there objective metrics used in audio world to assess audio encoding perceived quality (similar to PSNR, SSIM, VMAF used in video encoding) ?
  4. @Nico P @Rick Reineke thank you for these informations ! Did someone already use Audio-Technica AT8415, and how is it compared to Rycote INV-7 ?
  5. @The Documentary Sound Guy I am just discovering Hydrogenaudio, nice ressource ! Concerning the books, they have mainly been published 10 years ago or more, so nothing about new audo codecs... Somebody talked to me about John Watkinson's Art of Digital Audio book (2000...) and Marina Bosi's Introduction to Digital Audio Coding and Standards book (2012). I didn't read them yet...
  6. A basic question for you all : what is the best shockmount for M88TG ? Shure A55M ? Rycote INV-7 (std or mkIII) ? Audio-Technica AT8415 ? PSC M5 Pro looks quite good too, but I don't find any reseller in Europe... I didn't find the answer in the group archives, but maybe the topic has already been traited in the past.
  7. Hi all I would like to go deeper into audio codecs and audio file compression (not compresser fx....) knowledge. What are there best books (or online courses) on this topic ?
  8. @Jim Feeley thank you for contacting Routledge ! I tried Wayback Machine (thanks Rick), but because files were password protected, they were not archived - or I don't find how to access them. @osa if you have the disc, it would be great if you could share me the files. My book copy is a Print-on-demand without disk, with only Jay's website adress to download the files...
  9. Hi all I am reading Jay's book "Producing Great Sound for Film and Video", and would like to listen audio example files, but the companion site doesn't work anymore (http://www.greatsound.info). Does anyone previously downloaded all the audio files and pdf from the companion site and could share them to me ?
  10. Hi all I would like to improve my skills in using RF wireless transmitters.and receivers. Do you have reliable books, websites, online courses or tutorials to advise me ? Yann *** Yann CAINJO Sound recordist Paris, France
  11. Thank you everyone ! If you have other reading suggestions about microphones including websites, please feel free to continue to feed this topic...
  12. Hi all I would like to go further in inderstanding microphones and their technology to improve use and placement in recording. Do you have books to advise me, other than Jay's, Patrushkha's, Ric Vier's books ? Yann
