  1. Gordon Hempton's "Earth is a Solar Powered Jukebox" may be useful: https://www.soundtracker.com/products/earth-solar-powered-jukebox-pdf-book/ also, articles by and about Chris Watson are always helpful and inspiring for me: https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/chris-watson-art-location-recording
  2. I wondered if it was humidity. I'm in Virginia where humidity tends to be the norm. Also to KGraham045 and Mobilemike, thanks for the Core Sound suggestion. I've sent an inquiry to Core about that as well
  3. I posted this on another forum but didn't get any reply. I've read comments from some here who have used an SPS200. I'm wondering if anyone has had any similar issues. I purchased an SPS200 last summer. With my first recordings, I found digital spikes in each track (random intervals every few minutes). I was using a Mix Pre 6. I tried again indoors with a different setup (Allen and Heath board to DAW, no Mix Pre), same problem. I sent the mic back to Rode, the said they couldn't reproduce the problem but since the mic was under warranty they sent me a new one. I just took it out into the field (Mix Pre again) and found the same issues. Thanks for any input.
  4. thanks very much for the info and suggestion
  5. Can I ask if anyone feels there is a great advantage to using the Soundfield SMP200 Pre-amp with the SPS200? I bought a SPS200, partially and gratefully influenced by comments on this forum. I'm using it with a MixPre-6 but wonder whether there would be any benefit in terms of quality in getting the matched pre. Alternately, have been thinking about getting the direct out upgrade for my Cooper CS104 - though I realize I'd lose the ease of the 4 linked inputs. I'm using the mic for field recording, not broadcast. Many thanks.
  6. and even a few pennies cheaper on Bookdepository: https://www.bookdepository.com/Improvisation-Derek-Bailey/9780306805288?ref=grid-view&qid=1504557918213&sr=1-1
  7. Ecoute Le Temps (Listening To Time), 2006 is kind of interesting about a young woman sound recordist looking into the death of her mother. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443354/ And then, there's an episode of John Benjamin Had a Van called "Breakdown Van" in which the sound man is kidnapped I've been looking for the program mentioned above, Tim Dee, Into the Wind but it doesn't seem to have streamed outside of the UK unfortunately
