From memory, so don't hold me to this. There's a "membrane" that separates the chemicals that breaks down over time/charges. So the chemicals are now mixing and causing the voltage spike, in a bad way. I'm going to Google this now, to see if my memory is garbage.

Are you sure it happens with all the cameras? A common interference problem is a broken shield on BNC cables used for sending video from cam to video transmitter. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the culprit, but I would be surprised if it was happening on all cameras!

Sooooo.... I was contacted by Showtime because they want to submit a project that I participated in for an award. They want a 750 word essay and timecode selections. Any tips from the group concerning the essay? I've never had to do anything like this and I have terrible writing skills. Don't over complicate it. 1. You set the transmitter gain properly. 2. Max the receiver output. 3. Line input to the MixPre. 4. Gain up the channel until your meters are where you want them. Personally, I like to hover around -14 to -10 dbfs. 5. Make fine adjustments to the mix with the channel fader. 6. Adjust headphone volume to a comfortable listening level.

You can get a DC blocking circuit built into your audio cables. Personally, I've used 411s and SRb and definitely sent p48 to them accidentally. Nothing was damaged.

I've never built a car, but I know you can get different tires for one. Common sense isn't so common...even with 30 years experience. I hope you remember me as the guy who tried to help you, but you were too proud to admit that you didn't ask the question that you wanted the answer to!

My apologies. This used to be a forum of professionals. A place where a noob could ask a simple question and get a simple answer. Instead, noobs ask simple questions and then bristle at the tone of the response, instead of realizing the question they asked was answered succinctly and accurately. If you want to know how to wire a specific lav to a specific connector, ask. Next question - "How long is a string?"

Sounds like classic SD card failure. Try a different card.

That's about the same capacity of a nicad NP-1 if I recall correctly. I used to power a SD302 and 2 Micron receivers for most of a day on one of those. 😀

I have 5 ek300s and they get through a whole day, everyday since I've been using them. Typically they still have 2 bars left on the battery meter (LADDA 2450)

Hammond Enclosures make a tiny project box, similar to this size. Otherwise, maybe find someone local who does 3d printing and get them to whip some up. I had some brackets made/printed for my slot in style receivers and they've held up beautifully so far (over 2 years ago)

You'll be fine with Wisycom (wideband I assume?) I use mine around 572-577mhz in Toronto. I was recently in Montreal and didn't have any issues either.

I watched a demo on YouTube where they removed cicadas (iZotope) from a dialogue track (from The Walking Dead, I believe) Made in Georgia, so you know the cicadas are hardcore.

I have a B6 (grey band) that I rarely use, but I believe it behaves the same as you're experiencing. My other lavs are COS-11 (3-wire) DPA 4060 (2-wire) and MKE-1 (2-wire) and they sound great all the time. What recorder are you using? Have you tried playback to see it maybe the distortion is from another part of the chain?

A common term that I've heard amongst production office staff up here in Toronto for summer - "Women's Winter" aka: air-conditioning set way too low.
