  1. Wow guys! Thanks so much for sharing those So interesting and to find out the names of the session players as I tend to overlook the details and just listen to the CD's mike
  2. Always good to hear them! I have the two DVD's about their work that are fascinating. Also a book "Reelin' in the Years" tells more about them and also recounts the loss of one album recorded with an early noise reduction system that would not track properly on replay! Did see them live once here in NZ mike
  3. I wonder if you have a Studer C37 ? We had 2 in each of our 4 studios at ATV Network!! mike
  4. In the 60's when I worked at ATV Network I remember being assigned to our sound fx studio one evening and recording a big light entertainment show on a C37 Studer 2 track recorder. No time-code then so audio on 1 track and the UK speaking clock on the other. mike
  5. Is it in warranty? Anyway contact the agent or SD direct mike
  6. Good idea based on the understanding that the 50 will be set for voice and overload Put each mike on a separate track and tell audio post about it in detail mike

Going slightly off topic I remember when production were concerned about a DAT tape in a box being very small and easily lost!!?? Now I hand in an SD card in a box without any comments! mike
  9. Sony PCM-M10 I chose it because of a comment about it having low noise electrets and mike amps Also it's inexpensive Have a low cost furry to go over the mike end for the occasion atmos I used to carry in my car in case an atmos or crowd noise was worth recording mike
  10. I used a Sonotrim mike under clothing Once in the air the presenter used a selfie stick and a GoPro to do pieces of the commercial to camera. He then stopped talking to enjoy the "flight" and I got a wonderful altitude track. I eventually un-rigged him in the car park below mike Me jump!!! Xugger that! Radio mike range was pretty good as the guy was in clear air But the pieces to camera , out of radio range were captured on the recorder Now days I would use a Sony Recorder to flash drive. Small inexpensive and 24K 64 bit This unit has been round the world on low cost commercials without budget for me. I have wired a Sonotrim to plug into it and it is spotless! mike
  11. Ask post then you cannot be the person who got it wrong! mike
  12. Try a Sanken CS-2 if you can find one. (Trew Audio Used $800) Good directivity Bright sounding High output Have a listen to one in working conditions not 3 inches from your mouth! mike
  13. Hi and welcome! It's Mike Westgate at Mike Westgate Sound Ltd in New Zealand mike

I think the UK agents came up with a headphone amp modification as they were not interested in the one that I developed and sold all over the world! It was approved by Fostex in the USA. Mike
  15. Can you use a scanner to look at the area your Lectro's are set too. Often limited range is caused by nearby TV stations. I use an RF Explorer to help me with issues like this. Cheers mike
  16. Cheaper to get it checked than bin it!!?? mike
  17. Testing any microphone by talking on it a few inches away and they will usually sound identical. The true test of a boom mike is whilst in use on a pole! mike
  18. Hi folks, I am a user since 1978! The aluminium poles were less noisy but did bend at full extension. The fibre poles can creak but do not bend. Yes adjust the internal expanding screws (they used to be metal but are now fibre) I use spray on PTFE to clean and lubricate mike
  19. Hi Bener Thanks for your post I have been busy and not researched and further Funny thing is that I've had no comments or complaints! mike
  20. There is one thing worse than a hairy chest and that is a chest that has been shaved at some stage. Then the scraping of the stubble can only be overcome by a singlet or cut down T shirt. Interesting I was pointed in the direction of a tape designed for hairy chests. So for example, under a T shirt the Safetac sticks onto the chest hair then I tape a B6 (pink under a light color T shirt) using Leukoplast hypo-allergenic tape then use another piece of Lekoplast to secure the cable lower down. On removal of the rig there is no pain for the subject just maybe the loss of a few loose hairs. mike
