AKA PowerMac you know, not a MacPro...
The MOTU 2408 wouldn't work with a MacBook Pro since it requires a PCI slot on the host computer such as the MacPro.
Hey you are the Vegetarian.... As for myself I would happily drive on aweekend all the way down to San Diego for some Tacos el Gordo, or even down to Baja in Rosarito for some great fresh Lobster... Don't get me wrong, I love Indian, but was raised on a Mexican diet...
Funny, I've always inserted the COS-11 on the opposite end (as opposed to whats shown on their website) of the RM & would never thought about trimming that piece off since for me it works great protecting against rustling noise...

I use the Hammerfall 9652 on a minitower Mac. This card allows for 3x ADAT I/O, word clock & SPDIF :

With a MacPro a MOTU 2408 will do just fine...
I do the cos-11 pointing down on a tie knot quite often. Sometimes you can even get away with sneaking out the tip of the lav without being noticed on camera & also helps to avoid rustling noise.
I worked with a camera guy for several years doing Atlantic TV gigs and he never asked for a kickback, just a thank you note sufficed; but Atlantic decided they couldn't afford me anymore and haven't booked me for over 10 months. I haven't worked for another booking agency since nor paid a finders fee to anyone. IMHO is best to offer a 10% discount to returning costumers. Still not sure if this is the way to go...
