  1. This is a very well documented issue on the post-sound community: READ THIS THREAD
  2. AFAK SD cards are way slower than CF... Maybe for 2 track recording speed should be enough though Heres a SD to CF adaptor
  3. LOL! This takes me back 25 years back when I pulled my dad's Nikon camera apart to see what the heck was inside...
  4. Get a remote audio ear bud Works great with the Comtek 216...
  5. Not so sure about that... I remember a guy erasing a D2 "digital" master by mistake (fired on the spot). Maybe is more appropriate to say "welcome to the NON Linear Age" BTW Richard, I'm really happy for you for been able to stop & think. There's always a way out of trouble...
  6. Hola Nico, Date una vuelta por Who I am today and let us know about you...
  7. I admire your humbleness Vin... Congrats!
  8. I bought a Oono Transmitta a couple of years back to use as confidence monitoring when going wireless to camera. It transmits Digital on the 2.4GHz band with 16 channels. You can use one transmitter & several receivers at any given time. When I first got it I tested it indoors and worked fine going from my computer upstairs to my stereo system downstairs. My Mac recognizes it as USB audio interface & can playback audio as such. In the field it didn't do so well since camera movement seemed to affect audio signal but since is just a monitor I didn't care much. I mounted it with velcro to the side of my Lectro camera-hop and fed audio from the headphones jack. It has internal battery but runs low in about four hours, but can be recharged with an Energizer AA battery USB adaptor during lunch brake. I would like to see a heavy duty version of this with a more powerful transmitter & better battery performance. Other thing it lack is volume control, since it can only be set at the transmitter side...
  9. Rich is right. Go to: system preferences/sound/sound effects/ the volume slider should be up and the alert sounds to play through internal speakers
  10. I think what he meant to say was "i know you are a nice "PERSON" but as a DP you're a Dick" Dunno, I might be wrong...
  11. Honestly, I think this is just another publicity stunt. Why I say this, well, last summer I got yelled at by an actor during a scene on a feature film. Is the guy a "A" list actor? maybe, (maybe not); did I release the recording on the internet, obviously not. Professional actors ARE very temperamental. Don't tell me you've never got yelled by an actor (please). Also, as all we know DP's don't give a s**t about anyone on set.... How many times a DP is talking or walking around during a shot? A LOT. Do I ever complain? NO, do Directors Complain? NO, do actors complain?
  12. Ditto!!! I got my DTV coupon on time & got my converter box... and don't own a proper HD TV at this time, but I'd be quite a social experiment to see how a week of NO TV (not to say a couple of months) would do for "Corporate America"...
  13. Hey Robert, I'd recommend looking at the Quickerteck route. I've been using their stuff for over 4 years now & they're quite good/reliable.
  14. You can also replace your old internal optical drive with a newer/better one... Go to: Super Drive Upgrade
  15. Yep, I'm a long time Toast user here... & now running Titanium 6, but let me tell ya; good 'ol Mac Os Finder tricks are sometimes quite useful. Cheers!
  16. You should be able to burn from the finder... Open the "System Preferences' panel & select "CDs & DVDs" and choose the appropriate action (open in finder). If you want to burn from the Finder all you have to do is drag & drop files to the DVD/CD icon on the desktop and when you're done adding files (& naming the disc) select the disc on the Finder and go to File/Burn (yourName)CD
  17. Good to hear that everything went well... How was metadata and deliverables managed?
  18. Well, My first option was Test pilot, and my second was Astronaut... So maybe why I ended up as a Sound Engineer/mixer...
  19. Boomrecorder works great. BTW I'm a Nuendo user as well.
  20. Just another day at the office (in Vegas), I guess...
  21. Not sure what you're talking about. He's blog is still up and running (& taking more hits than ever): http://web.me.com/farroutpro/sound/home/home.html
  22. That reminds me the last gig I did for the Science Channel when the producer was about to jump out of the SUV and there was a semi speeding toward us... soon after that he thanked me for "saving he's life" and I asked him: "do we still get paid if you get killed?"
  23. I'm sure he's okay. Lets move on...
