  1. For sure, it seems like a somewhat hard sell. Battery life with 10mw seems to be 4.5hrs according to paul on FB, estimating that if it is off 50% of the time manually, it will be 8.5 hours. But they need to compete with ZMT4 that has 6 hour runtime and powerroll. Or if recording is put to the side, it needs to compete with Shure (with remote capabilities) and to some extent Lectro/Wisy (Symphony TX with remote capabilities is bound to come at some point). The Sennheiser EW-D is quite interesting, but also just almoust there imo, I dont see as a competition at this level of wireless even if it uses a similair gain structure as shure and is completely app driven. Think it has autocoordinate, but no remote changes of frequencies without touching the TX is a bit of missed oppertunity on that one, and the range doesnt seem that impressive from the demos. Full wideband is sweet tho
  2. Looked quite exciting until I also figured out the runtime and that the charger which you need to sync them all at once runs for over a grand, when it is app based - is there any reason to not have them all sync via bluetooth? I have synced up to 12 Tentacles over bluetooth. Sure, it takes a minute or so, but saves the hastle to jam many units physically. Any way to auto coordinate? Maybe via an 8 series recorder? So close, yet so far from being perfect.
  3. The shop have refunded my Neo, still curious if it was just that 1 battery (they were hesitant to let me try charge another battery with my charger), if anyone have experience the neos in a non audio root charger, it would be interesting to know more. Using some extra RRC and "older" Audioroot smart batteries from a collegue to cover the current shoot. It's a little bit cheaper to order RRC, so I might end up doing that, but since the price is not that different (especially with delivery) with the Neos, I thought it was worth to support the local shop.
  4. Thanks you, it would be interesting. Wonder if Audioroot could update the firmware to get rid of this limitation.
  5. I borrowed an older audio root battery from my collegue. It charges in the rrc charger. Took back the Audioroot neo to my dealer and I will hear back from them on Monday. Initially it looks as it charged in their audioroot charger, so if that is the case - I am leaning towards that the battery needs a propriety charger which is a bit ridiculous.
  6. Hello folks! I have a 49wh and 98wh RRC smart battery as well as their charger since last year as it seems to be the no branded version here in Europe. Normally the big battery lasts for more than a full day to power up my mixpre10 with potentially a UCR411a for boom. I recently modded my G3s and got an antenna distro as well as fins, so to be on the safe side I grabbed an Audioroot neo from a local audio shop. It does not charge in my charger, the charger just keeps cycling through green, yellow and red led. Theese smart batteries are a bit to smart. Is there anything I can do other than try to return the battery? Do you need a propriety charger for the audio root? I dont need the readout, especially not on the neo as the battery even has an oled with the smart info and I like to keep my equipment with as small footprint as possible. Or is my charger only accepting RRC batteries? Has anyone got a similair experience? 7. Just watched the walk test. Sure it has all cool features and what not. Maybe it sounds exceptionally good and show link plus potentially backup frequencies is a nice to have, but the Wisy blows it out of the water in terms of range at the same test. But as you said, maybe something like this plus a 4ch wisy could be a pretty good package for sound quality and flexibility on the booms and radio reliability for talent in a reasonably small footprint.
  8. 5V, Finally! 48v and NeverClip, good job on this one!
  9. What do you think the chances are that we will see a symphony TX this year?
  10. Defenitely! I am fortunate enough to just have heard of the dreadful Vega system. Even low end stuff for the starting filmmaker seems to be better than that. What I will say tho, I spoke with a returning veteran last summer and to him it was kind of unusual to try to pinpoint RF channels with RF explorer and freq finder. He didnt have to account so much for RF back in the day, it would "just work" 10-15 years ago.
  11. I like the idea of the A10, but maybe not the execution. If you have FB I would suggest that you have a look at the user group forum. Bluetooth range seems to be almoust non existent, the SD recording seems to fail often enough to be worried about and in order to have TC, you need to physically jam it. But the audio seems to be really good, so depends on your expectations I guess. Personally I would go either Wisy for a strong analouge system that you can combine with other brands TX or Zax for all the extras.
  12. I would second CS3e if you are on the sidelines, headturns will be a problem tho. I havent done basketball, but for football it can be worth considering putting a blimped shotgun on a low stand pointing towards the coach from below and hope for the best if you are not allowed to mic them. If you do this I would consider something that doesnt matter as much if it goes harms way, like a 416 or NTG3 sort of thing, but indoor acoustics and hard floors might make it less of an option again. Maybe a 50 if you can get it planted close enough? Still, I would be horrified to leave a MKH50/CS3e blimped close to the action. Or you could have a chat with production to see if there is any way to put a wireless/track e (if the broadcaster prevents wireless) on him, it's going to be hard to match.
  13. I havent been to impressed by the sound quality of the reviews I have seen on this wireless system.
  14. General word on FB is that it works in a pinch, but doesnt sound as good as Native Wisy/Lectro on both sides or Sennheiser TX in compatability mode. Check out "Wisycom User Group" on FB and there is plenty of experience about this. One could always hope that Lectro licence out their Digital hybrid "compander scheme" to Wisy. I think it might be technically possible as Wisy to wisy uses similair tech, but there is a legal problem to do so from my understanding.
  15. I solved this with an EMC connector at the mic and a 20cm starquad cable to the plugon. Had issues with a UH400a and Audix scx1c, hc (both which have mbho capsules) and even a Sanken CS3e exhibited the issue at a low volume before this. Also used the audix with a HMa this way without any issues last summer.
  16. Probably after 8 years the battery has lost a bit of capacity. The IKEA Ladda 2450 AAs works good, but for more than 2 hours you'll want a different power solution. Check the USB behaviour in the settings. If you do audio over USB, it will keep the sample rate of the computer it has been plugged into, so that is something to look out for or disable in case you only use it is a recorder. Overall, be aware that you only get a stereo track from the Basic mode, so most likely you'll want the advanced setup or custom mode with recording set to advanced. Hope that helps.
  17. Dont use non rechargeable batteries, they dont last at all. I use Lmount for my Mixpre6, not completely a fan tho, the official self started wiggle and disconnect after a year or so and Sound Devices wont cover it on warranty.
  18. The mixpre is great value, I am sure that you will be pleased with the recordings once you work out how to operate it. Do yourself a favour and do some test runs before a critical recording. There are a few Ahas, but once you work it out it's such a handy device.
  19. Maybe Tascam dr100 mkiii could be an option too for quiet preamps on the cheap side. Otherwise the options you have already gotten are all good. Personal favorite flavour is anything SD.
  20. I think it would be really hard to isolate the breathing of a running horse with a parabolic mic. It could be interesting to create sound effects, but of a bigger area of the horse I would say.
  21. Right, would be a nice to have. I would think it would be possible, but maybe it is best to confirm with deity, or see the documentation if there is a limitation to the audio interface option when also used to wirelessly send or receive audio.
