  1. i'm having some problems configuring the outputs in Play Mode. Since I don't always record a mix track, and sometimes I split it in 'Boom to Left Track and Wireless to Right Track' (as the editors required), i found i'm not able to send all the recorded tracks to an output in playback (for instance, if i want to make the director relisten an old take), but i can select only a single track to each output... maybe an 'all tracks to output' (in play mode) or a playback output matrix coul be a solution in the future... but i received my fusion12 since 4-5 days, so maybe i have to practice and discover all of his features yet... v
  2. that's exactly what i was talking about and i'd like this option too i slate to recorded tracks every roomtone or wild take description (my fetish). maybe, i could use a free input channel, connect a shure, assign it to the tracks and record it when i need (using the fusion slate only for boomline)...
  3. Bringing up these two questions about the Fusion12 for which i wasn't able to find an answer... thank you in advance.. v
  4. that's what i wanted to hear right now, since i was buying my first fusion12 last week, then these rumors destabilized myself and i became hesitant...
  5. thanks for the replies... i'd also prefer the travel charger instead of desktop idx charger.. has anyone tried globalmediapro np1 batteries on fusion?
  6. hi, i'm buying my first fusion12 and i'm looking for np1 batteries too. i'm in italy and i'm having some troubles finding idx batteries at the local stores, so i'd like to ask you if someone experienced with other np1 brands on the fusion. i'm also worried about their size, since i've heard that some np1 batteries, for example, won't fit regularly in deva slot being slightly thicker... and i wouldn't buy batteries that i couldn't use. thanks..
  7. hi everybody, i've been far from the site for a long time working around... but now i have a few questions i hope you could help e in replying. so, i'm going to buy in few days my first fusion 12 (i hope nab will not make my decision time wrong...) and, despite of reading the user guide, i have a couple of doubts again: 1. Outputs. Is it true that i could assign to the outputs only the inputs signal and NOT the tracks (as for example i can do with cantar)? 2. Slate. Is there an option to choose at the moment if i want to record my words trought slate, or simply send it to my boom operator, in example? i know that in the cantar this is possible pressing (to record) or not (it doesn't record) the shift button while the black button on the crown. 3. Sound reports. Is there someone that could post an example of the sound report that fusion generate (i was not able to see it anywhere)? i hope i'm not forgetting other questions, maybe i will add something later. thank you everybody, v. ps. where is the 'Deva Users Group'? it semms i'm not able to find it on internet, my fault...
  8. maybe you could try to delete that films from your profile (as if you've never worked on that ones), so the list 'know for' could change, and then you coul re-add these films again... but i'm not sure it could work
  9. yes, you're right. i found it out a couple of hours after i wrote my post here...

    US Rocks!

about the penalty kicks... i think that sometimes they could give the victory not to the best team, or to the team that deserved to win in the game. so it happened in the last world cup, when italy was very very lucky in all the entire world championship, playing with several low rank teams and winning with a lot of favourable instances, where France overcomed great teams like Spain, Brazil and Portugal, played well against Italy but loosed because of Trezeguet mistake on penalty. oh, and i'm italian...
  11. i'm going to start a 6weeks movie next monday and, for many reasons, i have to use this recorder, rented. so, i took it with me the last 2 days to test it and, assuming that i will use my mixer (so no phantom activated), with aa batteries it worked an entire day (yesterday) without problems (i think it was on for at least 7-8 hours) and today it has more or less half battery power... but i will try again to know exactly how long it could last. slightly ot, i have to admit that, even though sound quality is very very good, i'm not really so happy to work with this sonosax recorder for those reasons: 1. as you could know from other topics, metadata menaging is not very usefull; 2. hearphones matrix, in my opinion, is not so good because it is based only on couple of stereo tracks: you could hear (sx, rx) 1+2, 1+2 (Mono) 1, 2 (Stereo) or 2, 1 (stereo inverted) and so on for the other couples of tracks, 3-4, 5-6.... otherwise you could hear Solo with a littel joypad going up&down on the tracks number on the display. in any case you have hearphones presets, like in soundevices recorder to make an example; 3. to change the input routing you must navigate in 4 menu pages, and there are no preset you can store and fastly recall. everytime you have to change the setup from the menu; 4. on the flash card you can only record your mixdown, so to backup your audio files you need to plug a pc; so, i could be wrong in something... this is my experience from yesterday with this recorder. i hope my english is understandble and i also hope if someone of you have already used the sx-r4 to share his opinions on real use in location recording. v.
  12. The question the original poster asked was essentially "What equip does Geoff use." not "What can I use to be like Geoff?" in fact, i was just curious, i'd never want to cause all this philosophical debate. to me, it is more like when you listen to a record and want to know which is the gear the lead guitarist is playing with. i'll never be Jimi Hendrix, or Mark Knopfler, or whoever... but i really like to know which instruments they are using.
  13. i'm watching this tv serie these days and i like its sound. is there somebody here who knows something about michrophones and other gear used to record it? i read that production sound mixer is Geoffrey Patterson, but i didn't find a way to write him so, i'm trying to ask here...
  14. without opening a new post, i thought i could go on this... so, i'm starting a new project and i have in my cart an AD149 Mixer and a Cantar Recorder. i'm going tracks 1-6 by direct outs and 7-8 by main mix bus. now, reading mixer specs, i find out that Max Output is different between L-R and Direct Outs (L-R is +24dBm while Direct Outs +18dBm). Assuming that i set my mixer 0VU at -20dBFS on the Cantar from L-R bus (so, full headroom), have I to set direct outs reference at -14dBFS to mantein their full specs mixer headroom? i'm sorry if i'm making confusion, it is just for clarify my mind. thanks
  15. i've noticed it too. my english comprension is not so perfect but i've always seen this show with original subtitled audio and, on last episodes, some scenes didn't seem to me as good as always. i also thought to sound editing lacks, maybe, when environment sounds of sea or jungle is not even well equalized upon dialogues in the scenes... but, i don't allow to criticize someone that certainly has more and more experience than me, it is just for talking..
  16. maybe i'm a little off topic, anyway, just yesterday i made up my sound cart for new movie. i set 4 lectro 211 in a rack at full output level, then they go into my AD mixer (line inputs) and then by direct outputs in a Cantar, selecting line inputs level from channels menu. I would ask you if someone here has experienced how to calibrate correctly the Cantar line inputs level: i've sent a tone from the mixer (0 VU) to a Cantar channel and i tried to set it at -20 or -18 but in any case this level matched with mixer metering level. i noticed that it seemed to match with setting my note from mixer at -6 db on the Cantar... but i'm not fully 'teorically' convinced... could i have done something wrong? an other thing is that i had to operate differently on Cantar attenuators to obtain note level at -6 on circular screen on every channels: 'mic' inputs 1-5, but selected line from input level menu, were set at -24 in rectangular screen and 'line' inputs 1-4 were set at -16 in rectangular screen... i hope i was clear...
  17. thank you, very good ideas and suggestions.
  18. hi, for may next film i have to shoot a couple of scenes with an actor that performs a monoogue while he's taking a shower. i would ask you is someone experienced on this kind of situation and has some advices to give me, also in which mike is preferred to get his voice over the water noise in a bathroom cab. thanks, v.
  19. hi everybody, this is my first post so i think i have to introduce me: i'm a 29yo italian sound mixer and i was most a reader than a writer on this blog until now. i apologize if my english is not always good, but i'm studying and practicing. to the topic... experiencing in my country, i've seen that many times the problem is that instead of recording only what is really important for the scene, 'digital era' sound mixers waste their time thinking how to fill all of their free tracks... anyway, i agree with rpsharman that it's up to the film schools also try to teach how to use multitrack recorders in a proper way, depending of the work. it is obvious, but really it's what i think.
