  1. Interesting how you use them and that you don't like the connector. I quite like the mini lemo's but I did have a couple become disconnected on a job last week. I'm now using the bubble bee cable savers. I agree about the noise floor and the limiter, the sound works really well with my Sonosax mic amps - a couple of directors have commented to me on how clear they sound. Lisala
  2. Thanks - yeah i generally do the same. I did have a play with the mini TX700S, its like a chirstmas tree decoration, tiny and more functionality than the previous transmitters - remote and variable power output and still 5v bias. The thing for me is that the mini Audio Wireless transmitter is the same price, similar size, has compatible FE3GN companding and you will soon be getting an extra 200mhz of bandwidth ( covering both uk channel 38 and 65) so i will probably wait for those. I am making a gentle transition over to Audio wireless from Micron but to be honest my Microns are working fine and most of my work is in the UK . I just haven't felt to need to rush into anything. This is especially true given the amount of new stuff coming out nowadays. Lisala
  3. How is the battery life ?
  4. Hi Jax thanks for the information. Will the software update for mixing on the unit also be available at the same time ? Lisala
  5. Thanks Rado - I'll email my DPA man tomorrow - Lisala
  6. Thanks Whit. One last thing - is it a fixed cap like 4071 or interchangeable like the 4060's . Lisala
  7. I'm glad I saw this before I just bought a couple more 4060's - Am I right in believing these are currently available ???
  8. Good solution - did you use shorting or non shorting switches and do you get clicks when you use the switches ? Lisala
  9. Good move Jeff - I just checked with a friend who is a diehard Cantar user ( and had Some design input on the x3 ) and he corrected me it was a three amplifier block mic amp to increase headroom not a multi stage AD converter type set up. Given how expensive international patent law is I can only imagine it's not worth it right now for Sonosax. Lisala
  10. Thanks also Richard - when these things are implemented I will make the move . At the moment it's not offering me a great deal over my current set up and the sort of work I generally do which is commercials/corporate and not a lot of tracks - usually 3 or 4 and mix track. On the cart its SXS8 into SXR4 and in the bag if more than two tracks its SXPR(modded) into SXR4. Lisala
  11. Thanks - I'll wait until it is - Lisala
  12. Thanks Jurg - the fact they are beta testing is very good - still not sure about some features but I will ask in the correct thread. Lisala
  13. Thanks for the information Jurg - is there a new delivery date yet for the first SXR4+ ? Lisala
  14. Does sound like difficult clothing. I've had some situations where the bra on its own was making a squeaky noise when the actress was walking - made the first take hilarious but had to remount it. Lisala
  15. Ive had the same here in the UK. I just tell them the truth and say you gonna cause a 30 mins delay if I have to get some carpet or blankets, suddenly I'm let in no problems just like everyone else has said. Lisala
  16. No not always I generally default to overcovers ( and my older well used ones work much better ) so I'm covered for wind and hairy chests. If I'm in the studio or definitely indoors I will use them inside clothes but I prefer sticky side on cloth and plastic touching skin. Sometimes I use them in between cloth i.e. In between buttons stuck to the button hole side but I have had rustle problems there before maybe similar to the problems you are having. I tried it there because when I was a cos 11 user this was the norm' with the rm11. Concealer touching a T shirt/vest is ok though. Lisala
  17. What are you using to mount them and what type of clothing ? I have found putting a loop in the cable is quite important with DPA's. I mainly use concealers ( the dpa hard plastic ones) and rycote overcovers on the clothing. I found the tie pods pretty useless, I was constantly getting a 'poly' type squeak with them , concealers in the tie being much better but still no escape from 'chin rub' or wind.
  18. Hey john if it makes you feel any better I'm using it right now for a promo/epk on the "Royals". Still sounding great and i do a lot of 23.98 for US clients shooting in the UK - no problems so far. I do intend to buy the newer version but I am quite conservative with kit so I would rather give it some time to hear some feedback and make sure everything is stable before I commit. Lisala
  19. All the best to your wife Malcolm - I love my job, problems and all but family is always number 1.
  20. Whats so difficult about splitting tracks per actor from a single boom track ? As long as every line is on mic I don't really see this as being loads more work than dealing with multiple tracks. Then level control is per actor is not a problem. Sounds to me like the 'editor' has not done any basic tracklaying before and should not be messing with sound. The noise being talked about is a separate issue which can only be assessed on a scene by scene basis leading to a decision about how to record that scene. lisala
  21. You can see on the block diagram the first 4 faders act as gain pot then if you push them in they switch and turn into post gain faders for the mix bus. My concern is why the two line inputs are not Mixing faders ? Not sure about the mix buss but i presume it's in software like the headphone monitoring on the current sxr4. Lisala
  22. [quote name="marcvonstuerler" post="291736" timestamp="1430761536 With the R4+ this addition will be no more necessary... Same for me that's why I probably won't bother getting the screen upgrade - will still keep the sxr4 as backup/ 2nd recorder. Lisala
  23. Nice bag - as an SXR4 user myself I'm interested in what you have wrapped around the gain knobs ? Do you have on off switches for the 4 mic amp inputs ? lisala

    RIP Doug Sax

Just saw this - I've also got a few of the Sheffield direct to disk pressings - still sound amazing I can't get anywhere near the soundstage using digital - music not amazing but I collect drum breaks and his transient test record is still the phatest drum sound in History. RIP
