  1. Phone Aldo he is very easy to talk to and will give you a timeline.
  2. I was thinking the same thing about a Dante breakout box having just seen the size of the apogee sennheiser micpre and A/D converter for iPhone I'm sure it's possible. I currently use the AJA ADA 4 with the sxr4 to use An AES input for mono or 2 channel mix track. Lisala
  3. So this is the only avenue for extra outputs - as has been mentioned. That's fine with me but I think Sonosax should offer something at the same time the sxr4+ is released for purchase even if it is from another manufacturer.
  4. What about the RJ45 port ?
  5. Maybe different knobs would help
  6. I have been harassing a UK multitrack manufacturer to make a mini version of their 24track recorder to do exactly what you say. There are loads of amazing sounding SQN Cooper Filmtech Sonosax and Audio Developments eng mixers on the second hand market - turning these into multitrack recorders would be great. Lisala
  7. Hey Rado much appreciated - full size faders nice. Lisala
  8. "Really glad your R4 is working out well for you Lisala" Thanks John- yeah it's working well here in the UK - it's a pain having to use a mixer infront in the bag for fast paced drama jobs but I mainly do commercials so its fine for that . I am planning on getting one of the new SX R4+'s depending on which one of the pilots I've been working on happens. Lisala
  9. Can't speak about the sx r4+ but I have had no problems with rf spill from the SX r4. I haven't felt the need to even scan it with the Rf scanner - the worst machine for UK channel 38 is the 788t terrible with 2040's - I have had a bit of rf output from my zfr100 also but it's so small I just move it out of the way.
  10. I did what bash has done on Friday on a comedy pilot. I also did a wild track with the actor walking in a circle because the pace was very steady and the actor was a martial artist and could match his own pace.
  11. Funny - a Canadian director I was working with today in London said " all sound recordists end up fat doing a job no one else wants to". Said in jest of course but I couldn't help thinking " wow you feel really good about yourself ". Nice to hear our craft is appreciated in Canada. I was taught at film school in UK by an excellent Canadian mixer who had boomed since he was a teenager. I'm not sure I could get you on set but please do a reminder message nearer the time, I will have more of an idea about my work commitments. I'm sure many others will chime in with much much more experience than me...... Lisala
  12. Nice - so I was almost right. You can get rechargeable versions aswell.
  13. Thks very interesting points. I very much agree about the lack of control with lav's and have had many occasions when it is more noisy than the boom. I have to say I have had problems with the Kmr81 in very fine mist type rain when filming under a porch. I did get the mic serviced afterwards and there were no major reported problems but it did need some cleaning on the insides so this may have been the cause. The 81 is still my main mic I like the sound a lot, I will probably get an 82 in the future.
  14. Funny I thought the AW transmitters have 5v bias voltage which should work with the CMR. I have thought about this for my zfr100 which only has 3.3v. ( but done nothing so obviously need is not great). I was thinking along the lines of an in line AA battery and just summing the voltage ?
  15. Thanks for the info Jax. I do agree Pascal a ta5 would suit me fine also - 4 unbalanced outs or 4 channel AES. Lisala
  16. Looks great to me it would cover all the work I do. I wonder at what point the faders would be in the archeitecture and if you need the extra 8 mic amp unit to mix line level sources through the faders into the SX R4+. I agree it definitely needs at least 4 outputs for me ( 3 boom and 1 mono mix ) and some sort of output assignable talkback input would be nice even if just in the fader pack. I could put this and 12 radio's in one Peli case then just 1 van for the boom poles, carpet, blankets, hogs hair, foam etc etc etc. ( also be nice Jaques if the faders can work with the current SXR4's serial input with a firmware upgrade of course
  17. This what I have used as my main mic set up for years now. KMR81i with short Panamic suspension and a rycote WS3 basket and size 3 windjammer. The only difference from stock is that I now use O rings instead of clips in the suspension( I recently switched to this after working with John Zecca from the USA and seeing his PSC suspensions ) . The combo with a panamic boom is so quiet I haven't felt the need to change it. I think the rycote mount should fit, the mic is very compact with right angle tails. I do have an OSIX suspension for my Schoeps which is very very good but I really prefer the sound of the neumann generally and this set up is great. ( just saw I replied to the other thread also)
  18. Wasn't Mr George Neumann ( mic maestro ) the inventor of the ni cad battery
  19. Thanks for the mono nagra TC info Jeff Al and David. I have used the timecode burst method on a dat machine which worked quite well at the time. The Interest comes from wanting to use my Stellavox SU8 (currently being serviced) with my Sonosax sx r4 for SFX recording. I have a stereo timecode head block but I prefer the sound of mono full track. I think I will just use the burst of timecode method. I was pondering using the neo pilot head for timecode but by the sounds of it the process is more complicated than just recording timecode into the sync head. Lisala
  20. Does anyone know anything about a timecode mono nagra 4.2 ? I have seen one in the past and it looked like the 'Harvey mod' because the TC display was front facing just behind the dust cover.
  21. Maybe if you can audition one of each you can make your own decision but i would recommend you do because i have found the difference is not really subtle. I'm sure there are some people using both in Belgium although from your routing/mixing requirements maybe the Cantar will be the most suitable. I think both http://www.sonosax.ch/ and http://www.aaton.com/ would be happy to let you know of users in Belgium and if you are lucky they will let you audition. Lisala
