I use one of these as a backpack when im working out of the bag :- http://www.over-board.co.uk/classic-waterproof-backpack-20ltr-black.html. The main reason is its fully waterproof and it rains alot over here. I also know a camera man that used one for his lenses and it survived fully intact and dry when he was knocked overboard when filming in Guyana.

Why just Sound devices ? Sonosax and Aaton cantars have nicer sound and limiters. While new they are more expensive I can see quite a few more on the used market when their latest products are released this year.

Hmmm looks great - hopefully they will make a nice AC701 type replacement. Then I can get my mic's upgraded to sound like mb221's.

Thks people, looks like it's not for me. I was looking at this and the audio technica system 10 for IEM/camera feed. Lisala -

I didn't know that, thanks. Do you have a reference to information explaining why this is the case ? lisala -
I use my (old school) SX-PR with a Zaxcom zfr100 in the way your talking. It works very well and I do have a slight preference for the older Sonosax mic amps ( even though they are practically the same). It also means I have a backup to cover me if my SXR4 gets damaged or stops working (although this has never happened). I think another seperately assignable dual output would be very handy ( definitely increase sales) maybe It could be on the multipin connector instead of a seperate TA3. Currently on the SX-R4 I use one channel for mono mix to iem/camera and the other for a boom feed via one of these http://www.pro-sound.com/p/STALKBOX.html . If the jobs needs multiple boom/assistant feeds then I would generally have a mixer in front that can do the job via aux's and splitters. Obviously everyone is different and another output would cover most of the preferences and ways people work which would also mean more sales. Lisala

Got the Sonosax newsletter today on the way back from work -

Plus one - I would probably say double triple if it went into overtime. Lisala

Hi Ditch the camera person and get a sound recordist. It's easier to get good pictures than sound in a doco situation most of the time. 'Off' shots are made good when the 'content' srry 'sound' is recorded well. Lisala

Yeah - a lot of the time Im recording non sync VO on set because they can only afford the talent for one day. Lisala

The UK APA (Advertising producers association) rate for sound hit £500 for a 10hr day in June this year. Very nice rate which translates to $804 a day in US but you get much more for your money stateside. I think this is why my freinds in Drama are all telling me to stick to commercials, plus you get to see your loved ones more often. Lisala

Are you still using the Cos11 with them ?

I dont think micron 700 sound great with cos 11's. They are full range up to 20k but the 2040's have a nice roll off at 18k which sounds very nice and also sounds like more bottom end. I use 700's with dpa 4060 and 4061(transmitter on 2) and i think they sound great and better than 2040's but that is going into sonosax mic amps where i get the benefit of the top end ( i have also had producers and directors positively comment on this) . I have used the same into a 664 and it didnt sound quite as good. The only radio mic ive used which sounds better with my setup is the newish audiowireless systems which use the same companding system as the microns but just quieter( i have also used lectro's and zaxcom with dpa's). I havent had any noise problems with 700's either so that does sound like something is wrong i would ask Tanky at micron if you can pop in and demonstrate the problem, if you have time. Lastly i have also found the range is much better with 700 series and 2040's side by side in the same bag. Lisala

Reminds me of the micron tx700s mini transmitter look about the same size and very similar case. Lisala Dolo

Beyer dt250 no problems. Lisala

"Here here" I think it would (potentially) be killer with an sxst or the smaller 6 or 8 channel mixer (can't remember the name right now) - Digi outs from the mixer on the cart then disconnect and run around with the bag when needed - 16 Sonosax mic amps with a tiny footprint!!!! -( by the way I power my nagra BSII with a pp3 wired neg ground - ) lisala dolo

I am waiting for the release of the mini transmitter Aldo was showing at the 2013 IBC with 240mhz bandwidth and a 6 hour battery life. I will try and pop in the next time I'm at Elstree, if I get a chance. Lisala

I used one with a dpa 4060 for an interview. It sounded great, the best ive heard the 4060, the interviewe did have a very good voice. The menu semed to be quite straight forward. if i bought some I would get the double battery transmitter. Lisala

I had exactly the same except the 'editor' started to lecture me about how to record sound and it was a job for google. I said I would call them back. 1 minute later I used google to show the director the 'editor' did not know how to import files ? Now the editor can't make eye contact with me for some reason. Lisala

I think Richard Meredith was sound supervisor on this - he might chime in at some point he does post here. It is all radio mic's ( wireless ) I believe. Well hidden( that is our business) maybe boom on the vox pop's ?
