  1. Correct me if Im wrong, but I don't believe that card is on the approved list. Of course that may or may not have anything to do with it. Tom
  2. That's dissapointing. I haven't used mine for playback (other than spot checking takes). Are you using firmware 1.04? Also what cards are you using? Tom
  3. I'm using the Andriod version and was wondering how can I tell if the TV add on is doing anything and how can I turn it off? Also, I have my Andriod set for "large" type. It works fine for nearly every other app, but with FreqFinder it begins to cut off the bottom of the text. Tom
  4. Upon looking at the specs and searching elsewhere, the Lilliput 667GL does not appear to have a SDI input. The only digial input seems to be a HDMI. Am I missing something? If it actually does have an HDSDI input, Ill buy a couple today! Tom
  5. I'm getting right around 4 hours with the Sanyo XXX rechargeables in the SMv's set for 50mw. Tom
  6. I use the microcats from Remote Audio. I'm not sure how they compare to the Bumblebees, but they work quite well for me. http://www.trewaudio.com/store/MicroCat.html Tom
  7. Thanks for all the suggestions and advise. I actually have had good performance with some older generic NP-1's, however the safety issue that Mike brings up is a real concern. While Im not completely convinced that even a "name brand" will be immune to such problems, hopefully they we at least be less likely to present such a danger. I'm going to bit the bullet and order 4 of the IDX. Thanks again, Tim
  8. I need to buy some new NP-1's but I really don't want to spend upwards of $200 per battery. I would like some recommendations on some generic batteries with a rating of 4000mah or better that seem to be reliable, and the name of some reputable suppliers (seems to be quite a few questionable discount battery suppliers out there). I don't need lithiums, I'm fine with nickel metal hydride. Thanks, Tom
  9. By the way, if you do find them somewhere for $50, please let us know. I found a few places that claim to have them in stock but they are $80 or more. Tom
  10. There's an over priced one listed on eBay. I'll wait. Tom
  11. Well... I agree, you should send it in. However if it's an intermitant problem it is questionable whether or not they will be able to fix it. I also had some issues with my 552. It happened only once where channel 2 did not record. Fortunately I had a H4n as a back up. I also experianced a few lock ups. It seemed to always be related to the timecode input. Tom
  12. And how long do they last with everything running?
  13. With all this discussion I decided to purchase a bunch of Eneloop AA XX batteries and a couple of the Powerex MH-C800S chargers. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/766725-REG/Sanyo_XX_Powered_by_Eneloop.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883785-REG/Powerex_MH_C800S_8_Cell_Smart_Charger.html So far I'm pretty pleased. They last longer than a standard alkaline AA, and I am getting about 3 1/2 hours in my Lectrosonics SMv transmitters with the 50mw setting. I do wish they'd run the SMv a little longer, but overall I think this was a good investment. I'll still need to keep a few Lithiums around however, for when I occationally need longer run times or for doing a live show. Tom
  14. Believe it or not, no! At least on some of them. Fortunately the 664 is not primary audio and in fact, for fear of a lock up, I mix on an 01v96i. Until I see a little more stabability, I'm very careful about using the 664 on anything where I can't do a "TAKE 2". Tom
  15. WhileI agree I'd don't like sitting around that long, I so often get just the reverse when my call time does not allow me sufficient time to set up, double check all my feeds, and check playback. I also find I get better "information" beng really early, and can prevent possible sound problems with ballests, AC systems , etc. Given the choice of one extream or the other, I'd rather be standing around waiting. But of course, I realize that was not you're point. Tom
  16. I for one do not want to purchase any more cards, especially small ones. I mean I already bought 4 of the "approved" 64gb Sandisk sd cards! I want langer cards so I can do live events, and I like to keep the files on the cards for as long as possible in case there is any problem in post. I've been doing a bunch of live events this year for CSPAN with panel discussions, ambient mics, podium mics, etc., and it's easy to use up all the tracks and exceed the 16gb for a single "non stop" event. I'm glad that 16gb works for you, but it is totally insufficient for me! Tom Tom
  17. Yeah. I bought 4 of them and then discovered that they were not working properly. I find they usually do okay until I try to record continuously, say for a few hours. I have never been able to fill the card running continuously without the 664 stopping and giving me a "slow media" warning. Sometimes it happen after about 55 minutes, and other times it will "crash" after about 5 hours. Okay for most shoots, but I'd be real nervous trying to record a concert or any long live event. With any luck maybe we'll see a new firmware version by the beginning of next month. Tom
  18. Me too, however my rationale may be different. My wireless are numbered 1 - 6. Having them match the input channels on my mixer is just more intuitive for me. Therefore the boom usually ends up on the last channel. When limited to just 2 record channels, panning the lower numbered channels right, and the higher number channel (boom) left, just seems to work better for my simple mind. Tom
  19. That may be so, however when you get a "slow media" warning the 664 immediately stops recording and does, at least sometimes, lock up. Tom
  20. Well, also bear in mind that not even all the approved media is working properly. http://forum.sounddevices.com/showthread.php?3862-quot-Slow-Media-quot-Fix-in-the-works Tom
  21. Yeah. But I really wish they had put some handles on it. I'm seriously considering going back to my cobbler and having him sew some on. This bag is getting real expensive! Tom
  22. How about the Sabine sda-102. It runs off of 12 volts. I had one for awhile and modified the euro connectors with TRS 1/4" jacks. One input with 2 individually controlled outputs. Its discontinued, but can still be found on eBay. http://www.sabine.com/resources/Delay/Literature/SDA102-OpGuide.PDF Tom
  23. I agree. However I'm going to stick with "two is one". Tom
  24. Yeah. They do that! It may be card related - most likely, but maybe not. If you have not yet done so, check out Sound Devices' 664 support forum. They're still working out some of the bugs. Hopefully we will have a substancial improvement in the next firmware update. I think it is likely. Until then, I wouldn't use it on anything that you can't do a "take 2" on. http://forum.sounddevices.com/forumdisplay.php?22-664-Mixer Tom
  25. I have 10 of MX412's that I use for live event panel discussions, usually in conjunction with a Dugan automixer. There are better sounding podium mics (although these are not bad) but I feel the mx412 is a good comprise between fuctionality, audio quality, and price. Some of the Audio Technical podium mics Ive used we're more sensitive with "plosives" and the gooseneck did not bend as well as the MX. However, as someone else pointed out, they ALL seem to have issues to some extent with plosives. Therefore I would suggest you also get the optional larger foam windscreen. It makes a difference. It's even better if you pull it back about a 1/2" so that there is an air pocket inside between the windscreen and the mic element. Do not buy the optional "wire mesh" windscreen. I've tried it. It's no better than the small included foam windscreen. Tom
