I just caught 2 scenes of Young Sheldon and with his lav mic exposed next to his shirt button. I was hard to see the grill but it looks like there is no windscreen and the grill has maybe 5 holes . Not sure what type it is.

I‘m running the same StudioLogic mixer. I’m limited on what type jobs I can do, but for a stationary work with multiple mics it seems works fine. There are no instructions for using it with an 8 series, so I’m fumbling about learning functionality. I like pushing the select button to enter the channel set-up. I asked Sound Devices if there were any instructions using the MixFace on my 833, they responded:
We do not currently have a guide available for the SL Mixface, though I can absolutely make a request for this to be developed with our team. The most basic functions are written on the Mixface itself, with Rec, Mute, Solo, and Select all affecting your channels on the 8-Series. You have the option to map the 4 lines of buttons directly below the DAW/CTRL button to whatever function you may wish to have a dedicated button for. To map, go into the 8-Series Menu and select Controllers -> Mapping -> Learn. Then, push in the button you wish to map on the Mixface and select a feature. Like all our other controllers, you have quite a bit of customization available to you on this little unit!
Does the 833 solo??? I still have to figure basic mapping. It seems durable enough (except I HATE fingerprints on the body). I have to find a small case for it. I have a small USB keyboard plugged into the MixFace, but have not gotten it to work yet.
I was on the sideline for almost 3 years due to an accident, so getting back into the game is challenging! I have plenty of time to figure things like this little mixer out.

Denecke TS-C and not really sure on sync boxes. A display would be nice, wireless sync is a must, and an app control is a plus. I have been eyeing Tentacles...
I have the TS-C, easy to jam sync with a bright display. The front screen gets marked up easy (soft plastic). I put a plexiglass cover over mine to protect it. 4 small velcro corners holds it in place & writing on it is not an issue. The 1st day I used it, a turd A.D. placed it face down on a road and put a good size dimple on it from a stone- thus the plexiglass. I have never had a problem with Tentacle! They keep great time no drift & are durable as hell. Internal battery lasts a full 2 days (but charge it daily). The different camera jam sync cables are expensive, if you have a friend who can wire them up you'll save big time! I have the bluetooth type that are easy to use on their app.
I have a lot of gear I was going to sell because I'm recently wheelchair bound, but I'v started doing small jobs while I'm convalescing, so I'm happy I held on to most of my gear.

Wondering if any of you are using the Bubblebee Spacer Wind Protector? I've had it a few years and find it extremely effective. Reasonably priced and comes in many sizes and colors. There is a size for any size shotgun. I leave the shield (minus the fur) on my cMIT 5u all the time. Not only does protect the shotgun mic, it does not muffle room sound.

Absolutely the RODE NTSF & VIDEO mic X are good substitutes. I like the sound of my kit, but wondering if I'm using it correctly in some circumstances. See how it says "Front up". That's the position I mount the mic, straight-up facing a band, with "front"

Here are images of my Ambeo VB mic. It's connected to a MixPre10T. The mixer has a plug-in for the Ambeo.
Notice the VU meter, the mixer records 2 file formats A and B (selectable).
Recommended wind protection is the Rycote BBG 25mm. The dead cat is sold separately.

This is my Ambeo VR Mic kit. I use the Sennheiser Ambeo VR to record sounds. The stereo separation sounds awesome in VR, but I use it for rich, immersive sound in stereo-rocks. I use the Sound Devices Mix Pre 10T because it is one of a few mixers the Ambeo pretty much sets it's all perimeters for 4 channels linking. The Zoom F8 also works like the Mix Pre. I'll be posting samples on FreeSound. I have the 4 XLR connectors set with a stress loop using small zip ties. I run the mics multi-pin connector to a small hatch door at the bottom of the Porta Brace bag. This allows fast connection of the mic to the recorder, without plugging in the flimsy XLR plugs (1-4). I have my headphones in pocket 2 and a 5 ft cable with the DIN12 male and female connectors.
The kit cost around $3300. If your into recording sounds this great. I was using the RODE stereo mic (big round one), but there's no comparison to sound.
This mic is great to record live music.
I also use an AKG C411PP small contact mic on this kit.

I've been using the OR48 from Orca. In my video I said the case weighs 50 lbs. packed, but my friend said it was more like 30 lbs.
Works great for the jobs I do...
$600 US.

If you have Lectrosonics transmitter this small mic is great in the cars visor. It is pricy but worth it.

I ordered 1 to be sure, now I have 5 on order. Awesome tiny mic.
I don't recommend the $30+ 8 way clip- useless.
The "dot" connectors are too expensive at $100, I mix and match pack types, Lectro & Sony.
I love the clarity.
