  1. singapore has stringent rules for frequency blocks, make sure you order the right block... serial number is on the body of the lectros. you could ask for proper pictures from the seller. -vin
  2. Most neighbourhoods in Bombay are averse to shooting - it takes one bad production... Last night the police landed on location - our time was up to 2AM, actor called in 'sick' and delayed shoot by 6 hours, thereby making us overshoot - production would not want to wrap at the earlier stipulated time, just greed, they could have easily rescheduled the scene for another day. director dragged his feet on every shot, knowing fully well... i left at 2.30 AM, i am sure i will find out when i go back tonight that the shoot went on (MOS montage sequence) until 6 in the morning... -vin
  3. A follow-up to the poll would really be the important thing, I thought just asking the question in a regular post would not do. best -vin
  4. my 20 odd years of guitar playing - could add some M7d5a13 chords... -vin

  6. Hi Simon! You look like lighting / actors or something is taking too long and making you wait! But why -are- you sitting on the edge of that case?? warm regards from Bombay, India! -vin
  7. looking at the fact that there's a channel open on the mixer and he's wearing his headphones, the next picture will be the mixer chasing this megaphone guy around the block for most probably damaging his hearing. -vin
  8. probably the mixer's sitting position, looks most uncomfortable! -vin
  9. I get my cart home every day after wrap. Not a big deal considering the size and weight, it takes us about 10-15 minutes to wrap up. I charge the following every day 1. Cantar Li-Ion battery x 1 (because the machine runs an entire day on one battery, I charge only this one while the other battery remain on the cantar, which gets used the next day, therefore i use & charge each battery every alternate day) 2. Lectro sixpack (with charger provided by Lectro) 3. 18Ah Pelican battery with a smart SLA charger This takes me a total of 2 minutes - to put to charge, and less than a minute to take off the next morning. To answer Phil, yes, the Cart power has an AC in, but I have not used it so far, never needed to. best -vin
  10. Hi Greg, I am not sure what the range is as of now, but the film definitely needs extensive foley work. best -vin
  11. completely agree with you, klinglkang. when i wrote my reply to Rlightstone, I was not thinking right, sorry, too many nightshoots taking it's toll maybe... obvously no point getting the guy without his paraphranelia, especially in this case! I will gladly record foley anywhere in the world so long as it works out... warm regards -vin
  12. rich, anywhere is ok. so long as i get really good work happening. for example, i would have liked to fly a foley artist over to here in India but then I am not satisfied with the foley stage facilities we have here. definitely not for this project. best -vin
  13. I may be sound designer for a feature length animation project. I am looking out for recommendations for good foley artists and foley stages. best -vin
  14. Much lighter cart as well now? Yippee! best -vin
  15. I would second Jeff on this. Unless one has something like a dedicated DC source that only takes charging from an external AC source, like the Powerstation... I remember working with mixer Pawel Wdowczak who had two Powerstations on his PSC cart, I would plug into AC wherever available. We NEVER ran out of power. On that cart was an 824, Nagra V, Sonosax mixer, RK4 rack with 4 x 2020 Rx, 1 x 2040 Rx, comtek base station. In fact his Powerstations were kind of old, and at least one of them did not have a decent enough internal SLA battery. I would avoid AC powering of any kind to my cart, unless it is only to charge or trickle charge an SLA battery that would be powering my setup through a distribution system. In my current setup, Cantar powers itself for 16 hours, Lectro Six pack powers itself for 16 hours, One 18Ah pelican battery designed by me powers a Sennheiser 300 Tx, a Datavideo 7" monitor and an iPower 9V charger through a PSC Cartpower. I intend to add a second IFB channel and more wireless Tx in the Sixpack. Even then, I dont think I will need anything more than one more 18Ah battery. best -vin
  16. http://www.filmtontechnik.de/ Service -> Stromversorgung -> You will see a small Pelican with Hirose connectors - maybe this is what you need. <<< PELI - Case zur Stromversorgung von 12V Geräten (Radiomikes) Batterie - Insert für 8 Mignon Batterien 2 / 3 / oder 4 Hirose - Buchsen >>>> best -vin
  17. Well, not only did i get three good radios, I also got my boom track. The light was NEVER used through the entire day. just as you said... i fight with all my tricks in the bag! Apropos coffee, I will now ask him to make one for me. Heh. best -vin
  18. Hi, I am working on a feature here with a foreign DP shooting the project. It is his first feature, he has only done commercials before. He has spent two years working in India, where most commercials don't go with sound, or even if they do, it is not sacrosanct to get good sound from the sets. Today's shoot - simple cafe scene with three guys, all coming in one after the other and sitting on a table. Celing height - 14 ft. 100 year old building. First thing i see in the morning is a 4 bank Kino rigged flat, parallel to the ground right above the round table where the boys are to sit. Shoot starts, Kino does not get lit. Boy comes in, stands by table talks to guy sitting. Boom is struggling to find space between Kino and boy. Yet, it does because it is an MKH50 with foam on suspension. Shoot continues. Kino remains unlit. Windows facing west. Wind comes in. Blimp goes on to the MKH50. Boom in frame. I ask aloud if that Kino is not going to be used, could it be removed please. Key grip steps in to help out, and turns the flaps outwards and high. Some space is now available for the boom. Later in the evening DP comes to me to ask me why that coffee which I made for both of us the earlier day was unavailable today. I got my chance - I told him 'because you put a Kino right above the table and never even used it once through the day and made my booming difficult.' He is certainly taken aback, but offers an explanation that it was an alternative... I just look at him and laugh. Just another day in my life as a sound guy... best -vin
  19. I would like to know how you cart boom poles and the windshields around... from traveling by air to day-to-day home to work and back situations. best -vin
  20. moshi moshi, wayne san... i have been in touch with a cinematographer from Japan - Robin Probyn - robin@gol.com who could help. arigato gozaimashita... -vin
  21. Thanks Tom, Yes, that antenna rig is a makeshift one I had to rustle up together, but you know - it worked perfectly for me for 45 days of shoot. You won't believe the places I put up that rig... <I used the VRM on a stage for 2.5 years on Block 27. We had 4 SMs running on Accupower 2900MAh rechargeable. I had 4 dipole antennae spread around a 50x70' stage in the middle. Never had a single hit,or drop out the whole time, and they worked a full time schedule. Don't know much about the R400a though.> How much run time did you get off those 2900 batteries? best -vin
  22. Tom, yes, I have been using it for the last 50 days, it is superb. I'm running it with 4 UCR 411's as of now... 1. No battery problems at all, works all day - have never run out of juice even one day. 2. With the SNA dipoles, it's got superb range. The last feature I did (NOV - mid-JAN 08) was a strange one, for many reasons. I almost exclusively used the SIXPACK with the Cantar (with or without the Cantarem). Here's a picture... best -vin
