  1. Well, you can mount a small VM on the outside on the side. I am sure you can do that. but to mount a VM flush against the surface may not be possible. Imho - electronics experts here - please correct me if i am wrong - regulated is ok if the load is not going to draw MORE current that the regulating circuit can handle. Other than that - a small voltage drop maybe which is not so bad as Jeff mentioned early into this thread... Other caveats have already been mentioned - battery capacity cant be seen on the other side, etc. However there maybe workarounds (i think there ARE!)... my 2 cents...
  2. I have opened one of these sometime ago - maybe couple of years ago - and fixed an issue with it. I dont think there is really any space in there for a voltmeter. if i can dig up photos (i always take photos of opened up gear!), i will post it here...
  3. <<As a result of the incident, the company will no longer loan guitars to movies under any circumstances.>> that's it. so even people who might be UBER careful will not get a chance. a precedent has been set.
  4. Ah, and i heard of that incident on Hateful8 where an actor slammed a super vintage guitar against a wall. the real one. SOMEBODY fucked up. bah. HAH! Not enough to see it come back with a small scratch that will leave you sleepless for nights...

I hope I live up to expectations! So... Here is the itinerary for September: 8th to Amsterdam (IBC), 12th to Copenhagen (DPA), 15th to Karlsruhe via Frankfurt (SCHOEPS) 16th to Berlin (2 days with my dear friend Christian Conrad - Sound Designer, also hoping to meet my old friend Frank Kruse - Sound Designer), 19th morning to Munich (Ambient), 19th night to Bombay... and i reach home on 20th mid-day. -vin
  9. Announcing my professional audio company in Bombay, India. http://overtone.audio This is a long-standing dream - to set up a professionally managed company that will offer sale, support, repairs and training in India. I have the support of almost every manufacturer and hope to help transform the scenario in India. I visited NAB and then went to Lectrosonics and Zaxcom last year to get trained in repair and maintenance. This year, I go to IBC and then to DPA and Schoeps for the same. -vin
  10. I think the keypad needs to be changed. Either this unit goes back to SD or an authorised service centre. You could try factory settings etc., but it seems to me a hardware issue if the REC functions once in many times...
  11. Yesterday some guys from Dubai came over to my place to interview me. In my living room, and it was hot so we HAD to keep the ceiling fan on. They had a Zoom with them. I told them i will record myself on the X3 and give them the files later. Put a lav on myself, through the Cedar DNS2 into the X3. Worked beautifully. They were absolutely amazed upon hearing the result. Just sayin'...
  12. As a current user of 2040s for a few years now, I must add - the line output does not sound as good as the mic output. just my 2 cents...

  14. buddy, you are in Ukraine, i am sure there are NO real fixes on which RF band you have to work in, unlike countries like UK or the US... You will do good... Sound quality - i am sure you will find them both good. or good enough. whether one is WAY better than the other - this is something only you can tell, i guess. be well!
