  1. I'm wondering why i can't find someone to smuggle me into GB or Europe or the USA...
  2. Rado, do you know of any other SMBus reader other than the RRC?
  3. look for Hirose on ebay, Mauser, Digikey, etc, better chances of delivery to Philipines... yes, on one of the leads. i usually use the solder version, either with the crimp on the back to hold the entire cable (with grub screw) and a rubber boot, OR, the version with a collet nut and no rubber boot. I have four crimp versions, which i will use for the next Hirose I build. I'm not afraid of a crimp.
  4. I had spoken to Glen a few weeks ago about getting these, but he said they were not immediately available as yet.

  6. thank you Stef... The principal actor in the film, that 12 year old girl lost her voice just before the shooting started and never regained it through the six weeks of filming. Stress, I was told. I went to the old villa on a day off and recorded IR (Impulse Responses) in every room with multiple mics and different sources of transients. Sound post was done in SF, and i got a mail from them saying "thank you" three times. It was the IR that saved the day for them, because they had to ADR the actor for the entire film. -vin
  7. I've never used the hook nozzle. techflex - ideally if you can find adhesive lined heatshrink, it helps in keeping the flex in place. Or you may experiment with some adhesive on the flex before you slip it inside the heatshrink. the key is low heat or very quick reduction by moving the thing in and out of the heating zone to avoid melting the nylon strands... Also if you can use a heated cutter (the techflex site sells some) to cut the flex, it melts the end of the strands and fuses them together...
  8. rip... such lucidity in emotion is rare. he's gone to join her soon enough...
  9. Dante = more inputs/outputs, not more tracks...
  10. there are a bunch of guys from out there - masters at what they do. this guy seems to be one of them.
  11. <<That's why some people have the misconception that the Cooper "sounds better" with a 24VDC power supply.>> Off-topic - but hilarious (or pathetic) - i once remember a long time ago - when i was on rented gear, i had a Cooper mixer and a PD6, was setting up in the morning and plugged in the brick batteries from the bottom shelf of the PSC cart to the mixer and the recorder. Turned on the PD6 and it went 'pop...'. Turned out it was a 24V battery i had plugged in instead of the 12V battery. Well, nothing was mentioned on the cables OR the batteries. Another time a Deva IV came to me for firmware upgrade (yes, folks, this too happened). Once again - plugged in battery and there was colourful smoke and awful smell from the Deva. yes - 24V brick battery, unmarked. Brick battery = SLA inside a flight case with a connector on the top, sometimes with a carrying strap handle... BTW, both were from the same rental. Heh. -vin

  13. I have never understood the need to dial in delays on production sound work. Not in a world that is non-linear, file-based, etc... I am sorry, but i just dont quite get it. Unless it is important to the provision of a preview recording in the form of video assist/or to camera(s) OR in direct-to-camera (single-system) work...
  14. 4.2V 6A Li-Ion NKK self-illuminated slide switch Anodised Aluminum body, magnets to attach to 742 5.5 hours with SuperCMIT and TRX742 The 742 can be used with AA batts as well, no change to the battery compartment Field tested (last 5 days of shoot)
  15. you can buy some good LiFe battery packs from Aliexpress.com - and plug into the Meon. They are cheap - about 200$ for 40A (may not be 40A as advertised, but hey, it's better than not having ANY battery power from the Meon!)...
  16. Have a great one Jeff! I tried calling you, but your phone was unavailable... Be well!
  17. Yes, i agree there is a lot out there, but - I hate McMaster because they wont deliver to India. despite willing to take money from an Indian International Credit Card (VISA).
  18. Steinel, B&D both have variable heat units. Heat shrink is rated (usually) at 160 degrees Centigrade... Judicious use of movement in and out to control the amount of heat reaching the shrink point should also be used in conjunction with temperatures close to what is required. I have rarely melted heat shrink and definitely no insulation with my two speed B&D. Techflex is a difficult animal to deal with. One has to be very careful not to melt it since it has a much lower melting point compared to any heat shrink.
  19. you mean 12V DC power supply... current requirement...
