  1. The description for the MM400 says it has a water resistant enclosure. Would it be ok totally submerged in water? How does it compare in terms of ruggedness vs an SMQV?
  2. Everybody has certainly given me A LOT to think about. Thanks so much for your input. Having a resource like this is a wonderful thing.
  3. I have a section of my budget allotted for things like cable and bags, and a buffer on top of that for any other odds and ends that pop up.
  4. I think that might be the direction I am leaning, thanks to everybody for your advice. I have had the opportunity to use most of the gear on the list, with the exception of the comteks.
  5. Maybe the 788t is overkill for me at this point. My education has been primarily theatre and the performing arts. I have worked on film projects throughout college, and it has been my primary point of interest since graduating.
  6. My motivations for going with the larger 788t are the fact that it generates time code, being able to purchase/rent additional wireless units and recording them onto their own tracks. It might just be gear list though...Thank you very much for your input.
  7. I am, thanks for the good wishes.
  8. Would it be a better idea buying a small mixer for use in smaller situations, and renting wireless as needed?
  9. I do have some amount of leeway in my budget, I thought the money might be better spent on extra wireless though. I might just have to use the 788t as a mixer in those situations. Headphones I own plenty of too.
  10. I was thinking of getting a couple of Lectrosonics IFB-R1a UHF Belt-Pack Receiver and using the spare LMa's as the transmitters. That sounds like a good idea. I was thinking about this, except using a Schoepps MK41. I am not sure what is more important, the extra channels of wireless, or a hypercardioid mic, or both...
  11. Hello everybody. I wanted to run a kit I have put together by all of you. I am very interested in working as a production sound mixer for ENG, documentaries, and small films. I am trying to stay as flexible as possible for types of work I can pursue. I have been working as a boom operator and mixer for a while now and looking to take the plunge investing in gear. The list so far is: Sound Devices 788T Sound Devices CL-8 Schoeps CMIT-WS4 (x2) Lectrosonics LMa Digital Hybrid Wireless Transmitter (x2) Lectrosonics UCR401A - Receiver (x2) Sanken COS-11D Omnidirectional Lavalier Luxor 42" LP Table Black (Cart) I didn't include my list of cables and cases for brevity's sake. I still have some funds left in my budget and was thinking pf getting more channels of wireless, but getting the less expensive Lectrosonics UCR100 receivers. Personal preferences aside, have I left something very important out? Does anybody have any suggestions? Your input would be greatly appreciated.
