  1. Amazing product Simon. Would love to see a version that will fit 411 and zax receivers too!
  2. Oh man, I totally remember those commercials!
  3. Well I'll be. Didn't know that one about the timecode "going chimpunk" - that would've saved me a lot of trouble over the years! I have previously found that there is a Waves plug-in that does the speed up right with TC so that it still holds. I'd have to go back and research which one it is. Last time I did all that prep was for a music video and they ended up requesting on set that even when they ran off speed that I play back the 23.98 version. Was told "we have a way to adjust it in post." I called the editor and checked and was told that was the case. -greg-
  4. Thanks for the input guys. I will have to check the new cables we had made from Pro Sound. This time I had them include the EMC connectors on the XLR end. We generally run the gain on the transmitters at about 23-25. I bought in a plug on UH400 and though the problem was less noticeable, it was still there. (granted, during that test we were cueing a walkie right next to the transmitter...) We have encountered the problem on the various stages we shoot at Silvercup - but also when we shoot outside on location.
  5. So, get this: after more trouble shooting, we've actually determined that what is likely causing our problem is the walkie talkies on set! When near a "cue-ing" unit, we hear the pops. I was on the phone with lectro and denecke today. Neither had any explanation. Tomorrow we need to try new frequencies on our end, and/or convince production to get the walkies retuned, or that the DP needs to not call commands to our Camera Operators during the take. What still is confusing us is that the problem has seemed to only pop up within the last couple weeks even though we've been shooting since the beginning of August...
  6. We've been using rechargeable Imedions in SMQVs. Maybe the batts need refreshing? suppose we should try Lithiums just because.
  7. Recently had a couple MC 41 cables go bad - or at least I'm pretty sure that's the problem. It sounds (or one would probably think) like power supplies (Denecke) going bad, but swapping them out with PSC models have not helped. Checked for any other week links in the chain. Basically we are hearing intermittent "thumps" and indeed it seems that when we jiggle the TA5 and XLR connectors that we can best re-create the sound. Anyone come across this? Using SM transmitters. Cables made by one of the usual suspects. -Greg-
  8. Hate to say it, but you might just need to carry an uncabled pole and wrap externally for these kind of situations. Rescue Tape (a similar tape to electrical tape, but without the stickiness - it only sticks to itself) can do some wonders when wrapped around connections and the openings of a pole, but water will still eventually get in thru the knuckles.
  9. Lewis, If I were in your situation, I would provide the stems. Making the case that this is extra work and you should receive some compensation seems reasonable. Turning over an OMF of your raw Pro Tools session (or the like) is more or less a complete No No in my book. Only if it's stated up front that this is required (and still something I would probably not agree to) or if you are delivering the project to someone else for a mix should you consider doing it. Just my 2cents
  10. Tyler, I wonder - is there a way to somehow add a level of organization where you can label the days as different projects? Mainly for day players - it would probably be nice to be able to search how many hours you might have done for a specific project...
  11. Tim Preble's blog (www.musicofsound.co.nz) is actually a fantastic rescource for post sound design. That is where the graphic comes from.
  12. glad to have seen this thread as I've been demo-ing the HD 26 and don't like em (overly bass-y IMO, and pinch my ears/are uncomfortable) would be much happier to mod a pair of sonys myself.

    "The Bomb"

Have you tried including the words "audio limited" in your search(es)?
  14. Jan, If in that rare time you don't have a hook up to/from video assist (it happens) you could get them an audio send via wireless. An ERX might be really nice here. Great sounding and you surely have enough firepower with your amped wifi antenna. I've know a few mixers who actually put a comtek transmitter on the video assist cart. That also means rigging the antenna on their cart everyday too. Not my cup of tea really...
  15. OK Mirror. Fine. Forgive me for using a colloquial term for a sound mixer.
  16. I have a client here in NY that will be doing some shooting in Chicago near the end of July. I'm not sure the date(s), just looking to pass on some names. Basic ENG/Doc interviews, good labor and gear rate, typically one or two c300s sometimes 5Ds. Please PM me with your info. Links to websites are probably helpful if you have one. No newbies please, looking to refer an experienced mixer. -Greg-
  17. Looks like I'm returning that delvcam then! My plan was to cut off the rack ears altogether and mount it on a magic arm.
  18. I also just picked up one of these. Really wish they have an option to turn off one of the monitors when not using it (a feature also missing on the blackmagic) Hey Wyatt, are the rack ears on the Marshall removable?
  19. I guess I will have to look into this. I had the cable (Hirose 10-pin to 4 x XLRs) made by one of the "Usual Suspects" - one that I strongly would assume got the wiring right. I have heard from a couple of other users that they also noticed the same issue.
  20. I recently had my fusion 10 upgraded to a 12 and was pretty disappointed when I discovered this issue - so yeah, re routing the inputs/layout was my only solution. (I use a mix of lectro and zax wireless). Also for the record I'm using standard 900m Zaxcom receivers.
  21. I find the output levels from zax receivers too low for the 9-12 input on my fusion. Try instead using inputs 1-8 and see what the results are (running line level of course)
  22. Just gonna chime in that I also run Lectros thru a Mixplexor (v1) and find it to work well. Granted, all my talent wireless (zax and lectro) are on the same block. I DO really wish Zax made one with more RF inputs (or outputs in this case?) so one could hook up a few more receivers.
  23. Not to split hairs, but Tier 1 rates in NYC (Local 52) is right around $20/hour for straight time (hours 1-8 ) There is also Tier 0. I have no idea what's up with that though...
  24. If you are near NY Josh, I've got a lightly used backstage modified junior model that I'm looking to part with. Has top and bottom narrow shelves.
