  1. you can get 2 b6's in those cases. with cos11's its pretty tight as is.
  2. i do the same thing with those accessory boxes from trew.
  3. i'm a fan of the MM-1 setup to an smqv. that way you're using the mm-1 as phantom power and limiter instead of the transmitter's. also, the boom op can have a direct listen of the mic and/or whatever you feed him through IFB.
  4. right now i've got a 02 ford focus wagon as my work vehicle(168k). usually it stays packed with my magliner, pelican 1650, 1620, 2 1510's, 3 c-stands, some sound blankets and sandbags. thats a pretty packed load but thats the most i ever travel with. in the next year i'll be taking on the wife's vehicle which is a kia sorento suv. its about a foot shorter than my focus wagon but has less miles and a few nicer creature comforts. i'll probably rock that for 2 years and then look at something newer. i'm torn between fun car and economical car... bmw is doing a 3 series sportwagon for 2013/14 so that may be a good option. but one thing is for certain, a comfortable seat is at the top of my must have list.
  5. Solid dude! So is that Bernie guy too!
  6. Hi Sergio, you might have better luck on another site like dvxuser.com for camera stuff like that. But like most things production related, you get what you pay for. So buy right or buy twice. Or I've also heard buy once, cry once. Good luck!
  7. client requested 2 neoprene transmitter wraps for talent. as i'm loading up my car i place my bag of wraps on the roof of my car thinking i'd grab them after i loaded a pelican case in my car. show up on set, client says, "well, only one talent is wearing a dress so you'll only need 1 wrap". i mentally shit my pants, was so pissed at my self. didn't grab those wraps back off the top of my car. but luckily i was able to stick an smv on her bra strap and wasn't noticeable from her long hair. when i got back to my car in the parking garage the bag was jammed in my bike rack on the roof of my car. then i was happy i didn't just lose $200 in wraps...
  8. thats a nice looking setup! i've been thinking about doing something similar but my soldering skills stop at regular xlr's. you should definitely do a run of these and sell them. i use the battery bud II as my bds at the moment but something with a few more outputs and a more slimmer size would be very attractive. let me know if you're looking to build/sell these.
  9. i'll usually give notes to producer, which usually has a zaxcom IFB so they can jot down timecode. almost every job i'm on its one man band. but if its a shoot being slated with scene and take numbers i'll enter that meta data.
  10. here's a question I have. how come the tape/mono out is on a ta5? its an 1/8" on nomad and works fine as it. so that makes another cable i'm going to have to make or get made(i hate ta5's). i'm guessing its for a locking, balanced connector?
  11. here's my shirt if you're interested i sell them for $12 shipped in the US. they are printed on american apparel triblend. sizes small-xlarge right now.
  12. it may not be the magnets causing the issue but the frequency in the sound that the guns are making that are peaking the mics/transmitters. my wife was watching some episodes of LA Ink and i noticed some hard hits on the mics from the guns. but then again, could be magnetic interference, freakin science...
  13. i'm a junk food vegetarian that rides my mountain bike as much as possible when not working(more for fun than exercise/fitness). i've got legs of steel, spaghetti arms and a weak core. i've been really working hard past month on a improving on a lot of that but over the past year stretching has been really important in my day to day activities, especially when strapping on the bag.
  14. yeah i've got a shitty HOA as well. the wife and I are looking to sell at the beginning of the year to move out of a cookie cutter neighborhood and on to some land, with animals and solar power. i've got a friend in Breckenridge that lives totally off solar, off the grid, and loves it.
  15. I have the eu2000 for mostly home use but it's been rented a few times by productions. It will power my fridge and 60"/ps3 and do so pretty quietly!
  16. Have you explored using a sound devices mm1 to smqv as your wireless boom? Could save you some money, but I think having at least one hm is a good idea.
  17. I have the mke400 with the additional windscreen and most camera guys I've worked with have been into it. I forget if its a 1/4 20 on the bottom of the shoe but I'll look when I get home.
  18. A frosty Virgil's cream soda is where I like to start, while of course finalizing my invoice. Then I try and get into the woods for some bike riding ASAP. The less cell phone service, the better.
  19. these might be the same people that had an etsy shop making similar things but have recently stepped their game up? filmfreak, you plan to buy any and be a tester for us?
  20. The front mics go to channels 3/4 at an auto gain. Are there any wireless video adapters on the cameras? Or any other lights or recorders on camera with sketchy made power cables?
  21. I saw $18k for F5 and $50k for f55 on Philip bloom's site
  22. I'm a nomad owner in NC but I'll be needing my machine for a week long shoot in dec but I don't know dates yet. You'd be safer to hit up the usual suspects and they'll give you a better deal than I would to be honest.
  23. I've been a b4b user for a whole now. Good customer service as well.
  24. they are using that same system on NBC's revolution, you might want to hit up Mike Rayle who's mixing that show and see if he's had similar issues.
