That makes totals sense @henrimic. I suspect the R&D payoff is longer on these relatively expensive low volume sales units as well. I wonder what more could be improved upon in this fine unit?

Thank you Rich. From a music recording perspective, it can be an exciting and “present” mic for vocals.

Now that we’re in 2023. This fine unit’s life cycle is going on 9 years old. Has anyone heard of an imminent update? Thanks.

Boom recording noob here: I’m curious where the Neumann KMR81i stacks up in this bunch? When does one find themselves swapping this mic out? I have a pair I use for music recording and they are fantastic mics.

Another recommendation for the Rycote INV7-HG MKIII. I fear the straight INV7 would be too flimsy.
