I’ve been a freelance location sound mixer in Perth WA for over 30years. Due to my location I work on wide range of projects from corporate up to drama. Over years I’ve had to learn how make anything from cable to building my own sound cart.

  1. Hi Team, Quick question for the tech heads out there? Not sure if anyone’s ask this before, so my apologies if this subject has already been covered. I have my trusty 788T Set up in a cart configuration and my 633 for bag work and has the Bluetooth Dongle for connecting Wingman, which I use all the time for metadata editing and controlling the machine. On the 788T I have the CL-WIFI connected to an older iPad, which Lectrosonics no longer supports, so don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep this up for?.. So I’m wondering what’s involved in being able to plug In the 6 series Bluetooth Dongle into the 788T’s USB B input and have the Wingman work with 7 series? I’m guessing it would be a Sound Devices software thing? Just so you know, computers are far from my strong point, so if this’s a silly question, please don’t shoot me down in flames.........😜 I’m genuinely curious as to if it’s even possible and if so, how would we go about getting SoundDevices to make this happen? Thanks for your time team. Cheers, Scotty.
  2. Thanks Larry, very much appreciated. 🙏
  3. Quick question to brains trust, I’m wanting to make a BNC antenna cable to go from my VR Field receiver up (approx) a 3 metre mast to my SNA 600 antenna. So just wondering what would be the best cable to use for this set up? I’m currently using a 4 metre cable of Altronic W2230 RG58C/U 50 OHM MIL-C-17, which I’ve a feeling may not be the best. Thanks guys, look forward to any suggestions. cheers, scott
  4. I use eucalyptus oil, gets rid every thing. I believe using stuff like isopropyl alcohol is not good for the cable, i assume it would dry the outer layer out and it would start to crack. stick with any natural oil & you should be fine.

  6. Thanks Jeff, really appreciate your feed back. Also, this is a great site as most folk seem to know what they are talking about & knowledgeable, only been on for a couple of days and have ready learnt so much. Thanks for letting me be a part of it. 🙏🎥🎬🎧 Cheers, scott
  7. i’ve built this 12volt power distribution box for my cart, so for I’ve got power coming direct from the battery(lead acid sealed) direct to the 4pin xlr’s with a on/off switch, now everything seems to running ok. But I’m wondering what components I’ve should have in there regards to short circuits, clean power etc. As I say it’s a very basic design but I don’t seem to have any problem with noise etc. But anyone can help point me in the right direction for adding the right components would be a great help. I’m ok with a soldering iron as I make all my own cable etc.
