  4. Just a thought about this , maybe people should supply phone numbers to talk to each other I have made several good purchases from this site, never been burned Sellers have gone all out to me to answer questions and have offered to have me call them for more information Hope you don't take it down Jeff I understand if you do, but to me it is a great resource Thanks Tom Maloney Chicago PS really enjoyed We Bought A Zoo
  5. I had a gig last summer, small indi feature. I get introduced to XXXX am told he is going to help me with what ever I need. I am working off a cart and his first question is what is that, looking at the Lectro Venue on my cart and stated he has never heard of Lectrosonics. Claims he does sound with a boom pole and a zoom. I pretty much did the gig on my own which was fine to me. My help xxxx mainly struts around with the only way I can describe is his hips are out of joint and his head is 5 times bigger than it should be. He is wearing a big black tool belt with a roll of blue masking tape hanging off it. With the tag left on so I am sure he can return the tool pouch to Home Depot at the end of the shoot. We give him the job of slating ( with my Deneke ) after he mumbles each take and then struts off to craft services filling his pie hole. On one shot we call for slate and he CAN"T find it. He set it down and can't remember where. I sound off at him and he gets defensive. I basically told him to pull his head out of his ass. I have enough work to do without looking for my gear at the end of the day. Needless to say he was gone the next day and production apologized to me. I don't mind people fresh out of college that are really trying to learn and be productive but the xxxx have no excuse being on any set.
  6. Pen for iPad. Just found this on the app store today. I find myself with no time to type sound reports during a shoot. This looks handy to me for just making quick notes on the fly and later transfer to Sound Reporter. I also like that I can use a big fat red marker to tell someone on set something without making a sound or trying to use hand signals to convey a simple message. To me with the eraser and pen and type tools it works like a Etch a Sketch with pages. Will let you know how it works. Tom Maloney
  7. Here are some pics, Real deal is on the right from Trew , Knock off on left. size does make a difference. enough said Tom
  8. I also rigged up a rock and roller, made 2 carpeted shelves, mostly use it for a follow cart and use a PSC cart for working as the rock and roller is a little low for me.
  9. I like when instead of cutting they say" keep rolling we'll do another take " and then do about ten takes on the same slated scene and ask which one was the best ? I still have trouble logging a report on these Tom
  10. See the same stuff here in Chicago from the local college and film school I think one of the members here said it best that craig's list is like looking for work on the local bulletin board at your local supermarket. Why even bother reading the posts Tom
  11. I have one on order, a little concerned about the web sites write up on protecting the unit from various RF. Is all new to me. I guess I cheat, I have 2 rack mounted R400s and I let them scan and pick my freqs and set up everything from the R400s scans. I guess a poor mans scanner. It works great for me. The rack mounted units not only scan but then tune to the open freq. I then set my venue and portable units from there. Thanks Tom
  12. Just to chime in here, I have several times when the cam op cannot show me the audio menu on the camera ! The week before I have studied the camera thanks to the links on Farrout Sound's web page and am able to GUIDE the cam op with the menu. Tom
  13. Yes Michael, there is a front pocket in front of the bag, sorry I did not get a good shot of it, also there is a lot of wasted space under the CL8 Thanks for reading Tpm
  14. I order this bag mid December, only to find it wasn’t shipping till this month. I currently have a Petrol Pegz1 bag which I have used with a 442 / 702 T and then a 552. I was not happy with placing the 788T/ CL 8 in this bag with the hard sides the input connections seemed very jammed to me. The first thing about the new PS 614 that surprised me is that there is NO carry straps or handle like their other bags. Not a big issue till your take it off your harness and want to carry it to another location, there is a long carry strap which I am going to shorten for carrying purposes. The bag comes with the long strap, two removable interchangeable dividers, two clip on radio pouches, 4 soft pillows, two wide velcro straps, and a removable radio holder that has elastic for holding 6 radios and clear plastic cover. The open sides give ample access to all cabling how ever you place the CL8 either top or bottom of the 788T, The pillows are nice , you can position them so there is no pressure on the CL8 connection on the bottom of the 788T. The 2nd supplied divider makes a nice little shelf to support the CL8, I found it is stronger to have the velcro support facing up and not down, it will bend either direction. After placing RXs in the holder, there is plenty of room in the bottom for XLRs even if not using a 90 degree connectors. In front of the radio holder there is still another zippered compartment. I really like the battery compartment, unlike the older bags you don’t have to unzip both sides and undo the velcro to get to the battery. There is a single zipper on the left side you undo for easy swapping. The bag seems smaller than my Pegz1, not as deep , but plenty of room. I will try to post some pictures here if I can figure it out Thanks Tom Maloney supplied divider Divider for 788T / CL8

  16. I have a couple of UCR 201s One is ver 2.0 and one is 4.0 The ver 2.0 I am seeing no setup screen on the menu or no exit screen. The unit works fine as far as changing freqs but seems to be missing pages in the menu. Is this because it is a earlier model or does it needs service ? ( I did buy the unit used ) I see posts from senator posting "did you try the secret master reset " Is there such a thing? If so could you please pm me with the secret or any other ideas on this unit Thanks so much Tom Maloney
  17. Thank you so much , the diagram makes sense Tom
  18. Hi All, I need some help with the outputs on my 552 please I had a cable built to feed from the tape out on the 552 ( TA3M ) to a Comtek 1/8 mini stereo plug with a mono output. This cable works fine no problems with the tape out. Now I would like to feed a 2nd Comtek with a feed for a boom op. I was thinking of using a direct out. So I tried the TAM3 L and R outputs and a direct output with the same cable It only works when I insert the cable half way and then cuts out when the connector locks into the 552 Looking at the connector pin assignments I see the only difference in tape out and L and R outputs is pin 3= float ( no connect ) Is this my problem ? Thanks for any info before I have a another cable made Tom
  19. Looks good, as far as the mirrors go. I used to drive a commercial truck, never used the rv mirror was useless, just USE and TRUST your side mirrors and you will be fine. Just remember to check them often. The big boys in the 18 wheelers do it every day Later Tom
  20. Thanks all for the great info. Why this site rocks and you people are the best Tom
