  1. Probably, but no external powering option on the LTS... I am also expecting my Zax hop soon (been waiting a while!), so any pics of the petrol pouch would be very useful.. cheers fellas!
  2. Wow that is a sad and sobering article. I used to have the misfortune of working for a company that regularly made cam ops go up scissor lifts to shoot off, often in windy conditions, and often on soft grassy surfaces. We always used to protest the practice but to my knowledge it still continues - often with the most junior members of the team as they are the least likely to complain. I have forwarded the piece to everyone I still know there, thanks for posting it here and bringing it to attention!
  3. Beyer Dynamic DT770 are very comfortable and sound amazing. The catch is they are not the most robust cans for location use.
  4. Hi guys, I have nothing constructive to add to this thread, but this did make me laugh out loud.....
  5. http://forums.sounddevices.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Hey Elior, as stated, try the Sound Devices forum for some direct feedback, a valuable resource for an SD product owner!
  6. Denecke GR-1 does the job, or you could wait until one of the manufacturers release something a bit smaller to fill the gaping void left by the 552's lack of inbuilt t/c. Alternatively, wait for the 5D/7D fad to pass and just buy a wireless t/c sender.
  7. Thanks for the replies fellas! I'm guessing you all mean the Zax blocks rather than Lectro?
  8. Dear UK based JWSoundies, I am planning on buying a zax camera hop and was wondering what block has worked for others in the UK? My other wireless is on CH38, so I guess that, in order to be 2 or more blocks away from them, I'd have to be in the 'not strictly legal' part of the spectrum? What's working for you?
  9. I have the 552, and am very happy with it. I find it very versatile and well suited to the kind of work I do (bag work!), having the recorder is a massive bonus when doing 5D stuff or working with a hop, or even just for general backing up/covering your ass! I just wish someone would release a nice (small) master clock type thing, as the only thing I miss in my mixer is a time code generator. Also, if you buy a 744 later on, you can have 6 iso tracks with time code.
  10. I recorded in a radio studio today...ahhhh bliss! To my ears, which have become accustomed to working in noisy/lively environments, todays sound was a pleasure!
  11. Well, you did pay them for it! ;-)
  12. I have been using my 552 for the past 12 days, got lots of radio mics and am finding some channel 'bleed' ie when I have a channel faded down, sometimes I can hear (very faintly) what is coming in to that particular channel. This is more noticable when a radio is out of range and I am getting hits/splats on it. Only solution seems to be powering down the offending radio. Also, when feeding timecode into the mixer, i have noticed a very, very low level on the L meter when monitoring is set to record source. Nothing is audible in the headphones. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced these issues or has any thoughts.
  13. Yup my ch3 pot felt kinda lumpy when the mixer came out the box but it seems to have worn off after a bit of use...
  14. Sven is fine, takes a bit of getting used to but once you have been through the menu a couple of times its easy as pie to change settings and understand what 'he' is saying. And the mixer comes with laminated cards for your bag that walk you through some of the more common mixer functions. TBH most of the menu-driven settings should not need to be changed in a time-critical setting - once your mixer is set up for the job you should not really need to get into the menu too much. And even if you do, its not as fiddly as you might imagine. Just buy one, you won't be disappointed!
  15. Ditto, really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these...
