  1. I read manuals if necessary. I carried some PDF versions of manuals in my Iphone (for Zaxcom QRX and TRX for example), because I'm not familiar with zaxcom products and they have a lot of possibilities (and by the way, a lot of possible mistakes...)
  2. Hi senator, I played a lot with the 664 and made lot of tests before use it on set. I also bring my "old" 552 in case of... I'm totally professional. The only thing I miss is the possibility to have a PFL in return mode via a custom preset monitor, as Paul wrote before. I work with SD products since years. I use 442,552, 744T, 788T and now 664. As SD have the same "Philosophy", not very difficult to use all these products with a simple and very well think "architecture". @Paul. For the "ENG mode" display, I know about the second screen with direct, X1,X2 and returns but I would like to have a big stéréo out meter and maybe small meter for return A only...
  3. Hello, after some little experience with my 664, these are my first impressions: I move from my loved 552 to the 664, so no need to read the manual, very easy to use. Even if you are not used to SD products, very easy to navigate in the menu and to understand the "philosophy". Sounds great ( maybe less warm than a 788), close to 552 sound. Analog limiters are very impressive. Far better than the 552. What I would like to have is a "ENG mode" display, with only the STEREO OUT, like an analog mixer (I think Nomad have also this display). It could be nice for simple jobs don't require iso tracks. One other thing is when you are listening Return signal, the PFL is not active, you have to change monitoring in "direct mode". I record 10 tracks for 1 hour on a Sandisk 60 MB/s with no issues. SD recommend to use 90 MB/s but maybe necessary only if you want to record 12 tracks with CL6. The screen is very clear, you have access to all the needed informations during recording.
  4. My first day with the 664: GREAT!!!Sounds great, very easy to use (I own SD gear since years). Just 2 little things, i had prefer to don't have the playback sent in the program but only in headphones in the factory setting. It is now OK but hopefully, I checked before listening a take during the camera roll. And, maybe I miss something but when you are listening in "return" mode, the PFL is not active. You have to be in "direct" mode to PFL the inputs. Not really problematic, just good to know...
  5. + 1 for the rycote TAC!T.
  6. I have use CMC 6-41 and now I use CCM 41 for doco work. I love the sound of the schoeps CCM41 (I also used MKH50 and KM 150). I did not ear any difference between CMC and CCM. I use the new rycote filter TAC!T. Equal to the schoeps LC 60 with great result. If you need only one directivity and a small size, CCM is a great choice but this choice have a cost...
  7. I also use 2020 and 2040, I had no issues to mix the 2 systems. I use the RX 2040 in mic level output with no issues. What happen if you use it in line level with the dedicated cable???Is it possible to receive a line level signal on the 2040 lemo?
  8. Maybe you could add a CMC8 if M/S is required, a dynamic Beyer M58 in case of high level recordings and a surround mic for the post production :-).More seriously, use a ambient quick lock, very easy to swap microphones.
  9. Hello, another question: is there a phase invert on the inputs?
  10. For the 2040, you have the Hawk woods model (1 receiver or 2 receiver versions) http://www.hawkwoods.com/products/details/details.php?code=vl-rm1&mainMenuItemToSlide=1&asi=rmc-a1&asi2=vl-70
  11. And you can also add this fantastic product from ambient : the quick lock. You can mount or unmount a microphone in 2 seconds. Very easy to switch to the best mic,... http://www.ambient.de/en/products/ambient-recording/boompoles/accessories/qrt.html
  12. Hello, try to play with the 48/12V switch , sometimes it stays just between the 2 positions because of the dust,... You can do the same with the PH/T switch and the LINE/MIC switch, I had the same problem once. For me ,great improvement of the 552 is the toggle switch for these functions. Maybe....
  13. Hi Jeff, I agree with you, this is the only in,formations I have received. He seems very disapointed and I suggest to him to post himself on this forum.
  14. Hi, a friend just told me he lost each 20 first seconds of recording of his takes on a SD 788T. Any ideas???
  15. This is mine in 2 versions. Doco work with 744T and simple version for ordinary work. I use QRX 100 and 1 or 2 Audio Ltd for reception, I use Sennheiser G3 for scratch track and monitoring IFB. I use an Hawk woods NPU 4S for powering the RX and the TX.( http://www.hawkwoods...=np-70&asi2=mr4 ) I modified the power adaptor. I split the cup for the NP1 and the part with the 2 switches. The cup for the NP1 is located in the back pouch of the petrol bag. The switches part is located on the left of the bag. One switch for the receivers, one for the transmitters. Very useful and easy.
  16. This is a pic of the cinela-rycote suspension:
  17. I use CCM 41 and I use both, cinela suspension in the rycote extended ballgag (http://www.rycote.co...r_compact_mics/). I modified the lenght of the cable from the cinela (http://www.cinela.fr...guage=en&pid=63) and I use it in place of the lyre. It works fine and it is smaller than the conbox system.
  18. Hello, and don't forget the schoeps CCM series. I use the CCM 41 almost every day on doco work.
  19. Hello, the legal frequencies allowed in Belgium are Block 20 and 21 (around 530 Mhz) and channel 69 (around 850 Mhz).
  20. Hello, is it not a problem of pilot tone? I had the same problem once I used a transmitter SK2000 with a G3 receiver. I had some RF problem with the pilot tone "on" and it was OK when I turn off the pilot tone. Olphi
  21. Hello, I also would like to have a internal recorder. I use it all the time to record sounds "on the fly" and make back up recordings and since the 552 comes to me, I would never go back to use a small external recorder. This is why I sold my 302. I also use a lot the mono mic out to send scratch track to canon 5D or foldback on the 552. I m agree with the pictures from Tom but I would like to keep 2 xlrs + the multi pin out. Maybe is it possible if you put the headphones jack on the other side.
  22. Hello, I use 2 TRX 900 with my QRX. Strange thing, I place the two TX at the same place and when I look on the QRX, I see a difference between the 2 received signals on the transmitter display. I also have this difference in the range, one of the transmitter (always the same) is less efficient than the other. I try to swap the frequencies, I swap the antennas on the TX and on the RX, nothing changes. The 2 TX have the new firmware and they are both set on 50 MW power. Do you have an idea how to fix the problem? Is it better to have a low frequency on the TX 1 and a higher on the second one? Thanks
  23. Hello, I live in Europe (Belgium) and here, lots of sound guys are using Audio ltd. I own personally 2000, 2020 and 2040 systems. I love them but due to new frequency regulations, I have to move from channel 69 to channel 21. So I decide to buy new systems, lectro SR or zaxcom. I choose the zaxcom QRX 100 and 2 TRX 900. I don't have a lot of practice with them but they seems very good. What I like is all the "extra" features (TC recorder, stéréo line hop, IFB return). The sound is absolutely fabulous and the system is transparent, much more than the Audio ltd. Concerning the range of the RF, they are not better than my audio ltd (here in Europe, we are limited to 50 MW power). The only thing I hate is the delay due to digital processing. It is not a problem when I use them with the SD 744T, I use a delay on the boom tracks. But when I send a mix to the camera, it is difficult to mix the boom with the HF because of the delay. How do you manage this delay if you want to do a one track mix with boom and HF? I now you are not supposed to have the boom + hf open at the same time but.... I did not try the lectros SR. Is there also a delay in the transmission? Many thanks
  24. Hello, view from European side, here, specially in France (I lived in Belgium), we love to use cinela (french product!). The only thing I don't like is that product is not so versatile, you have to choose one shock mount for each microphone (more or less). You can use soft foam or softie but there are some restrictions. But it is very efficient, as expensive too. Have a look on the website to see compatibility between products.
  25. Thanks Senator, have a good day.
