  1. This is a great idea... http://www.pro-sound.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PSS&Product_Code=SPETOMNI&Category_Code=PeterEngh
  2. You may also want to look at the Lectrosonics SR receivers. It's a dual channel receiver that's pretty good for camera hops.
  3. Larry, are you saying that the differences I'm hearing is from the input of the transmitters? That's pretty interesting.
  4. I have some SMQV's paired up with a 211's as well. I have done some testing between the UM200 and the SMQV while using the 211 receiver. I have noticed a slight difference in audio quality between the two. The SMQV, being that it's digital, sounds a little raspy to me compared to the UM200. The 211 is analog, so maybe it has something to do with the converters. When using the 211, I usually always use the UM200 because it sounds better to me than the SMQV. However, it you use the SMQV with the 411a, it sounds great. Again, maybe this has to do with the fact that the 411a is a digital/analog receiver.
  5. Is it possible to keep the slate button locked? For example, I want to run tone to a camera but I have to keep the slate button pressed down. If I let go, it stops the tone/slate. It would be nice to be able to lock it down when needed.
  6. I recently worked on this doc/reality show and we used Ambient time code boxes on the 5D's. Worked pretty good.
  7. The book is called The Cure for All Diseases. I highly recommend it, unless you think it's bullshit.
  8. I'm currently reading this book and they found out that humans emit RF at the 1,562,000 Hz range and above. In fact, every living thing emits RF of some sort. Some people think this high frequency in humans explains how psychics can "feel" something. Or how faith healers can harness energy. But I'm more interested in how it can cure diseases. Pretty neat stuff.
  9. Make sure you ask them for at least half day rate while traveling. This is common. They should also buy all expendables.
  10. If it's affecting the performance quite a bit, then you should send them to Lectrosonics.
  11. I'm on the road and using the production's sound rig. They are using Audio Ltd wireless systems, and they are in the block 31/32 range. (802-824mhz) Are these okay to use in the U.S.?
  12. Senator, I was not able to use the any of the freqs. I did turn on the transmitter to test it, and it was not usable. It could also be something with my Lectro.
  13. I was scanning my Lectros for a usable freq the other day when I encountered an issue. The entire block 21 spectrum was solid, with no usable freqs. After a few minutes of waiting (and panicking), I scanned again and I was able to find something. The interesting thing is that 20 minutes before that, I scanned and everything was okay. Is this considered to be white space testing?
  14. Has anyone used this time code device? I start a show next week, and they want me to use this as a "lockit box". The manual is difficult for me to read. But I was hoping that someone here has experience with using it. Thanks.
  15. What about an update in the future to name tracks? Would that be possible?
  16. Hey Tom. What types of CF cards do you recommend using? Do you suggest the 90MB/s cards, or is that overkill?
  17. Correct. If you only using the USB function, you can only get 16 tracks into Boom Recorder. I wonder if they make a MADI card? If they do, then it may be possible to get more analog outputs. If you need more inputs and outputs, you should be using the DM2000.
  18. I would tell the editor, and have them download Wave Agent so they can fix it. I've had the same thing happen too when asking the AC about the RED frame rate. I ask several times, and after I explain 23.98 and 24, they always tell me 23.98. Another way to verify it is by looking at the video village. If the RED is set at 23.98, it will actually say 24 when in standby. But once they hit record, it shows 23.98. Confusing if you ask me.
  19. But what if they are not wired, and it's just a boom? The dialog does change. They could ADR that I guess.
