  1. I leave everything on all the time, except for breaks and meals.
  2. I say head to DC since the elections are going to keep crews pretty busy.
  3. I love the fact that I get to travel and see things that most people never will.
  4. What's the one thing you love most about your job?
  5. I couldn't agree more Senator. A lot of people just don't get s/n ratio when it comes to wireless systems. But s/n ratio is a huge thing in our business.
  6. You'll want to use your 552 inputs at mic level with most wireless receivers. I used to keep the G3 receiver at 0db, and use the high quality preamp on the 552. Adjust the transmitter gain so its not too overloaded, but not too low.
  7. I have the Sanken CS-2 and it acts the same way. It rejects a lot of noise, but you have to be careful when moving around if you're in a noisy location.
  8. Thanks for the clarification. So I guess I can just use the 1/8" balanced cable that comes with the G3 series.
  9. So I'm still confused here. Should I use an unbalanced 1/8" cable when running audio into the Epic?
  10. The cool thing about spectral editing is that you can actually see the different frequencies in an audio file, and allows you to remove it. The editors on the Tron film used it on dialog to get rid of a high pitch frequency that was caused by the costumes. Its like using Photoshop on an audio file. Very cool technology.
  11. Thanks guys. I'm a Peak user, so Izotope RX 2 looks like a really neat product.
  12. Does anyone know of a piece of software or plug in that allows you to edit audio using a spectral view rather than a waveform view?
  13. I had the DR-680 for about a year. Sounds great. Excellent price for what it does. But lacks timecode. I understand what you are tying to do, but it sounds like too much work. Its good in concept, but not effcient in reality. I'd rather timecode stamp the file from start, rather than mess with converting the file afterwords. I just hate spending more time after a long day messing with files. I think its really worth the extra money to purchase a used time code recorder. Even a used Edirol R-44 Pro is not that much more than the DR-680. I guess you have to ask yourself how much your time is worth. Just my opinion.
  14. Spend time on this forum. There are lots and lots of topics on here. You will also usually learn far more by being on set.
  15. I use the same batteries in my SMQV and I get at least 6 hours from it.
  16. I'm not so sure that this is a good product. The point of having a physical fader is so you can grab it. I think touch screen is good for some things, like menus for example. God I hope things don't start going this direction!
  17. I guess it depends on what you are trying to do. If you are just trying to record a master out of the 442, then all you will need is 2 XLR cables. But if you want to record each channel separately, then you'll need 4 cables that run from the direct outputs of the 442, into the 744t.
  18. I haven't seen any discussions on here regarding rechargeable 9V batteries. But I'd like to get some recommendations. I'm looking at the Powerex 9.6V and the iPower lithium. The iPower ones are very expensive and only have 200 charges. The Powerex ones have a 1000 charge cycle, and they are half the price. The use will be for Lectro UM transmitters.
  19. I agree with most of the others. Why spend money on something that you know post is going to not even use? I don't think anyone has used my audio that goes into these cameras. I just use a padded cable and a G3.
  20. Does anyone on here use the VR Field? I wasn't aware of this product until recently.
  21. I've been on a few shows where we used IAS. It really is worth the price, especially if your production has lots of wireless systems. If your show only has a few wireless systems, it's probably not worth it. But if you have 10-20 wireless systems, camera hops, and other wireless stuff, it is very helpful. Also, if you have a Mac, just purchase Parallels.
