  1. Tom, Yea, its considerably lower than my 664 and my 633. I called them and they said they would look into it. Maybe a few more owners should let them know about it.
  2. It's quite easy to re-wire a ta-5. it just requires a good iron and a steady hand.
  3. Yea I just tested it on my 664 and have a little boost over the 688 but not much. Maybe firmware? It might be a hardware limitation, a silly mistake if that's the case. My 788t has a ton of boost but then again it's routed through a mic pre.
  4. So I'm dialing in my new 688 and have found the gain to be very weak on the ext slate mic in. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried a Sennheiser Me2 condenser and a Sure Dynamic lav on max gain (+36) with the same results. I get good level at mouth distance but not at my typical 2ft ish for slating.
  5. Thanks for all the info Robert, much appreciated. Btw randomly found you on soundrolling, good stuff ;-) Cheers, Jesse
  6. Did you have to make an itemised list and show purchase receipts? thanks for the info!
  7. I'm definitely going to look into that . Seems like the way to go. Thanks!
  8. So I am moving to Spain in the near future and am hoping to get some insight from someone who may have done this already. I will be shrinking my kit quite a bit for the move (most if not all in a pelican 1650) *Goodies in FS section soon :-) My plan is to check the kit but whats the best way to navigate customs and avoid getting reamed? Thanks! Jesse
  9. Reminds me of à gréât vidéo. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sFu9_b-BsIs
  10. Here is some of his on set classic slate shenanigans. http://youtu.be/195DIZY-C3Y
  11. Very true. In my small circle of mixer buddies we naturally swap jobs when we're overwhelmed. It requires some trust and respect if that second call comes your way. And yes, This has become my only sound forum I participate in because of the knowledge and experience all you guys and gals bring. Keeps my head in the game during the slow weeks... like now :-( Thanks Jeff
  12. http://youtu.be/EkmhWcfCn9I Just stumbled across this. It made me like Quentin even more. Wish most sets would implement this.
  13. I dig the setup but am curious what you gain over the factory whips? I kinda get using an antenna distro in a bag with sharkfins because you gain the directional advantage of the fins. Isn't this two steps forward and one step back?
  14. I found another one, although not one mic. Love these guys.
  15. I take that facepalm and raise you!
  16. The funny thing is it's written like an add for the equipment . Selling himself on gear and not talent.
  17. Agreed.... But you know what they say, Its not the brush.
  18. I actually read it as if he charged "no equip rental" Free kit. Palm Face
  19. I think I may have you all beat. I live in Venice ,CA and A few times a year I get to roll my cart out of the front door to work. Freggin' awesome.
  20. That is exactly what I have been trying to find for my setup. A vertical cart for my SKB case kit. If this was aluminum I would buy one in a heartbeat. Fantastic craftsmanship, quite jealous ;-)
  21. "The Sandisk SDXC Ultra; 30 MB/s; Class 10; 64GB has previously been approved for use with the 664. Because of inconsistent performance with multiple samples, it has temporarily been removed from the approved list. A future firmware revision will allow this card to be approved in the future." That's annoying as I just bought one of these before it was "un-approved :-( Yet I haven't had any problems with it.
