  1. You SHOULD know the rules..Once something has been discussed it can never be brought up again...even if you bring it up in the original thread. Its in the fine print...Hard to read on these tiny screens...
  2. Ok.. First of all I want to apologize to Glenn. My post was NEVER meant to be directed at him. Glenn and I had a long friendly conversation regarding the post and I apologized to him personally and explained to him my intent of the post. I am not placing blame on any one company. I think its in every ones best interest to communicate when developing new products to see how they react or interact with existing products etc. I will say that the problems that I experienced were handled quickly and professionally by SD.. Not by John but his group and all of my gear plays nicely with each other...with the exception of this wifi thing.. As I said. Typing Glenn's name was purely a typo on my part and not directed at him or Zaxcom in the slightest. I'm sorry for what sounds like me dragging him through the mud publicly.
  3. This is what I'm getting at Glenn... I may be mistaken but it seems that the major players don't communicate too often... I can understand why, because they don't want to give up trade secrets or whatever, but something has to give when it comes to development. Its awesome to have all these tools...I use all of them, but if they don't play nice from the get go then something has to change. What I don't like is being told by anyone that "its not their problem" or you have to do this or do that... WHY? These things are supposed to make our production lives easier. Its not fair to a customer that pays thousands of dollars for something that in order to use a product you have to use some workaround or this or that.. R&D it...figure it out and FIX IT! Stop making excuses...it gets old and makes people loose confidence in your product.
  4. I get what your saying Larry..BUT, these are major players in our market. As a manufacturer are they above testing the product along side its competitors?? Or even with their own products? Just to see if they play nicely together?? I understand that you can't test every scenario because of costs etc.. Even though the IFB200 is a new product, the implementation of the technology has been around. Its not like it just came out and all of the sudden we have a new problem to deal with.
  5. It not unreasonable to expect any manufacturer to R&D the technology and test for these types of issues. Without placing blame on any manufacturer there is no excuse for these types of issues to occur. This is too small of a market to not be able to test all of the latest equipment and even communicate with other manufacturers to correct these types of problems..
  6. Not at all Jeff, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't isolated to the IFB200/633 combo. Its a tough problem to deal with and there is really no "one size fits all" solution.
  7. This isn't just a 633 issue..This 2.4 bleed happens on 664 and (while I dont own one) I've actually heard it on my friends Zaxcom mixer. This is something that has been talked about for some time and the only solution thus far is to remote the antenna.
  8. I've been doing something like this for some time now.. I use the little loops that Versafelx has on the sholder strap to anchor it down.. along with a right angle adapter to give strain relief.
  9. I've made 5pin right angles. Not for Alexa but as long as your exit orientation is good then it works fine.
  10. I will check them out! There are so many suppliers! Mouser, Markertek, Allied...the list goes on..
  11. I'll speak for Jack.. YES.. Kinda hard to find also...but they are more available than the solder kind that you and I spoke about.. EBAY is a good place to find them but they take a long time to get here from China!
  12. 2 working days.. Lately its been 12's! But I'm confident enough in them that I don't bother to turn them off at lunch or between locations.. Its also 110+ degrees and they hold up very well..
  13. I've been using them in my ERX's now for a few months..I love them and they are SO cheap! Bought a 30 pack at Costco for $16. I've gotten more than 2 days constant run time out of them in the ERX..
  14. The ones we used on set were not really headsets.. they were those annoying wire over the ear bendy crap with a nice mic on the end! SO annoying! lol I think what we used is not what the OP is looking for.. He's probably looking for what John posted.
  15. I did some remote/studio work for them and along with their set came a case with their headset mics.. They were Sennheisers but I don't remember the model....What I do remember is that the talent hated them! lol They sounded nice though even in a crowded arena.
  16. I really like the waist belt... I like how the lower half of the strap angles down to meet the height of the bag...The back part looks thick and comfy. Is it breathable material? Can the straps that hook to mixer bag itself be wider to stiffen the whole thing up?? And I think they should be independently adjustable.. so 2 straps that can be adjusted instead of one strap going thru a D ring. This will help in 2 areas. 1, when your taking your gear off you, don't risk dropping your rig as soon as you unhook one side of the strap.. It seems as that as soon as you unhook one strap the whole thing comes off.. This can be good and bad. 2, Sometimes you have to grab your gear and go right? Independent straps/clips will give you time to get it hooked up and moving...then later you can clip in the bottom ones. You can leave one side connected.. wrap the belt around and clip in the top and be ready to go. I just think it might be less clumsy if you're in a hurry.
  17. Not sure of the details of your job, but why dont you use the direct outs on the 442 and use channels 7-10 on the 664? Then you can record ISO's tracks if needed and you can match your levels a little more closely while using the faders on the 442. I know that doesn't answer your question, but this could be a viable workaround...Then everything hits the mixbuss at the same levels etc.
  18. Ken, The only issue you might have is when your trying to solve a specific problem...Like my F55 issue. Those cables would not work on an ENG type of camera. And it would be silly to keep a bunch of A-Boxes around right? I dont know if I would modify ALL of my connectors. I left my pig tails straight, but I made my ZAX RX900 cable low profile, so when it sits on the back of an ENG camera the cables dont stick out and they route only a short distance to the RX. Make some shorties that you can use to solve a problem you might not encounter all the time. Cameras like the C300 can be a challenge because depending on the Operator/AC, they may actually place the XLR ports somewhere that isn't convenient. My goal is to keep it light for those and use an ERX. The other thing about "kortwich" style is that if you really do it their way, the connector is sealed up for good...Maybe not a good idea for a beta snake pigtail..Some make them with plastic caps for that reason. SO you could try that as well.. Good luck you! If you have any questions or need some pointers you can message me.. and I'm sure Jim wouldn't mind passing on his years of knowledge as well. Matt
  19. I modified a Wooden Camera A-Box for client had an F55 and did not want the cables sticking out...We made the cables go straight up so he could easily tie them off with other cables on the camera. He said his Sound Mixer loves it because the connections are on the back of the camera. While the Kortwich style cable is more permanent in its orientation, they do work quite well.
  20. Thats a very interesting approach! Looks like A LOT of work! But if it works for you then thats all that matters.
  21. I think if Neutrik were in the business of actually making cables then they might see the need for this type of connector. But honestly as I sit here and build cables...I think to myself..there are so many variables in making the "Kortwich" style cables.. There is no way a connector manufacture would know what wire will be used, what orientation that the cable exits the connector, etc..
  22. Thanks man! Really appreciate the feedback!
