  1. Hey VM, funny indeed, it sounds like we're working on the same commercial as i've been told they're shooting same commercial across Europe. Also it turns out that production originally gave me duff information and that the handheld mic will be a prop mic and that I will be able to boom (although no boom op) after all. So yeah i'll probably do the same and use boom and radio mics.
  2. Thanks for all the advice peeps, reckon I'll just stick with the Beyer after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I haven't got a boom op. Yeah thought about the mic on camera, but shooting on Alexa which is Line In only I think for audio into camera although I could always put a mic on with another tx. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Thanks Erick and Rick I'll check out the EV RE50, although Rick it's the Beyer M58 I've got, not to be confused with the Shure SM58. Jim, yes the condenser cardioid was the route I was thinking. Also I've got an Audio Ltd 2040 plug on tx so maybe wouldn't need to hire in the whole HX2040 system. Philip, "wire the talent and tell them to just use the handheld for the other folks--don't bother with the back and forth." That's a great plan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Oh yeah the presenter will definitely be wired, but due to the nature of the shoot the "doorsteppee" will not. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Hi Everyone, next week I'm working on a commercial where a presenter "doorsteps" people in their homes and asks for their opinions on a product. They want minimal crew (so no boo op) so the idea is to use a wireless hand held mic that the presenter will wield. I've got a Beyer M58 in my kit which is fine but in my experience needs to be held fairly close to the mouth for good sound. The presenter will probably not have the best mic technique so I was wondering what mic people would recommend that might be a little bit more forgiving and have a little more "suck"? I look forward to your suggestions, thanks, Mike Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. So it seemed fine for a few hours last night. I then powered it down when I went to bed. Tihis morning found that it's switched itself on and is misbehaving again so will be going in for service.
  9. Thanks Jesse. Casey at Sound Devices Supprort suggested doing a full hardware rest (holding down FF and REW on power up) and it looks like it may have worked...
  10. Hi Everyone, Whilst recording today my 788T powered down of it's own accord. It then wouldn't power up again for 5 minutes and when it did I was unable to set date and time and I was unable to access some other random things in the menu. Luckily it was at end of day and I was able to struggle through last 10 minutes or so of interview and didn't lose any media. After powering down the machine it then switched on of it's own accord with buttons lighting up, lcd screen flashing red with no display showing, a whole manner of strange things, switching on and off until I pulled the onboard battery off to stop the nonsense. Back at home connected it to external power but had similar issues. Managed to have it on long enough to restore factory settings but continues to freak out intermittently. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Is there anything else I can do like a complete factory reset or reinstall software (if it will stay powered up long enough)? Or should it be sent on its way for Shure to have a look at? I'm scared that it's gonna die. I'm running latest software V 3.01.05 Thanks in advance, Mike P.
