  1. Technically no real issues (Garageband and other apps for phones are not new), I think it boils down to "dedication" of the hardware. The processor in the phone vs a recorder is about the same, if not, better in the phone. But FPGAs and (arm) processors in dedicated devices/recorders are tailor made for doing specific tasks very good, whilst a phone has to reserve things for other tasks as well. Your phone is just a computer, so it comes down that the bottleneck the software/Operating system. TC could be solved with one audio input of an interface dedicated to LTC (and again, software that picks that up correctly, writes it to meta data, etc).
  2. I guess if there are loads and loads of complaints, concerns or returns, they would have.
  3. I have had one in my hands to check it out, didn't check it for solderability though. But assuming it is, which most likely is the case, it will take you 5 minutes to do so, and you can use your beloved headset. We solder plugs on 300/600 usd lavs all the time to adapt them to different systems, so not a big deal.
  4. Why not just solder the right connector/wiring? Or am I missing something here?
  5. I think you are projecting a little, or a lot. All I said was "his art his choice, move along" (meaning to me: it doesn't matter, millions of movies are made, with certain artistic choices, whether it is sound, lightning, whatever). I guess the bait was in the latter of my sentence, the "move along", that for some reason I am the subject all of the sudden over here. No, I was talking about his style. Like, how David Fincher's films are basically always dark and green, Gaspar Noé shocking without borders, And Vin Diesel films is sponsored by white wife beaters.
  6. Oh you gonna play it below the belt now? From a technical point of view I will be the first to start a discussion. This is not it. fair point, yet in the end, there is no right or wrong in this. I believe gradually we can conclude this now, after x-amount of Nolan's movies with overwhelming sound.
  7. @madno, we are also talking via email, but since you posted here as well; You are putting a mic level (DSLR ISO) out into an line level input. That explains also the low RMS of -50dB average in the screenshot I send you. That will explain the high noise floor. You cranked way up. See your email for the other settings I adviced.
  8. I listened to the file. Sounds like loose wiring, internally I guess.
  9. In Deity case, no. Pre-amp -> AD conververion @24b/48k -> Transmission. Think of it as your Wifi connection; it has to cramp a lots of bits and bytes in a narrow band, so *FSK is needed, yet it remains the same as the original digital signal on the RX end. what system? Might be the AD conversion or preamp you hear?
  10. Your assumption does not apply to the Deity Connect system, and my guess is neither to the others, even the higher end systems. Most, if not all, systems use some form of Frequency-shift keying (FSK), which is, to talk in your therms "lossless".
  11. No you did not miss anything. The site is in overhaul at the moment, so only the current offerings are showing. In time before the actual release all the specs will be online obviously. In the meantime you can scroll back this thread to read all I have said about this, that is basically what we can disclose publicly anyways at this moment.
  12. Yes. And you can also set the TX in "sleep" remotely from the RX, in case you need to go over the 10 to 12 h. battery life.
  13. Yes the TC will be stamped in the audio file, just like you are used to from your audio recorder, so at the end of the they indeed it is loading the cards, and go. You can even remote roll (press record) from the RX, so no need to roll all day. For sake of simplicity and keeping the whole signal flow of TC separate from the rest, it is a deliberate choice to do it the conventional way. But your suggestion is noted 😉
  14. Yes, I just updated my post above you. No need for that, since it stays in sync all day (and more).
  15. Switching is (by just a push of a button) not possible; due to the nature of our protocol, you need to have access to the TX to be able to PAİR a TX to an RX. Recording to SD whilst transmitting is possible (worldwide, except units sold in US), syncing wireless is not needed, you jam it in the morning once, and you are good for the day, just like you would jam your TC device (or BP-TRX, since it is a plain TC device as well 😉) for the camera.
  16. Still, the final stages. I know, I sound like a broken record by now, but hold tight...
  17. Get above the crowd: I had a similar kinda shoot years ago also no way of getting stationary larger antennae, so many people blocking me from the actors (thus the RX) so I figured, I just get up on a plateau to increase the line of sight probability a lot.
  18. You mean Cinela windscreens/zeppelins?
  19. Hi Matteo, try lowering the transmission power in the RX, mind you, this is JUST the transmission power for the remote control functionality (like changing gain, recording on/off if you use a HD-TX etc), which most likely you can turn all the way down to 10mw. That said, certain microphones are unfortunately not immune to RF, as wel as proper shielded cables are a must. Since the Connect system is "bidirectional by design", the Duo-RX is a transmitter as well, so you have to take that into account.
  20. What kind of security are you "demanding"? This dropbox/google drive/etc portal to portal transfer is offering the same kinda security as your bank is using to let you send and receive money. Nothing is 100% hack proof though, not even your homebrewed Nextcloud setup on your NAS.
  21. With 0.5 HE ventilation panels (screw hole positioned close to one edge
  22. If I recall it correctly from the Facebook discussion about this at the time; the KickStarter campaign is actually more used as a tool to test the waters, to see if it is indeed a product to proceed further with development. Since this is quite the niche item, I think this is actually a quite logical way of doing this.
  23. Most likely post will replace the scratch track with the recorded audio? And uses TC with that. Your calculations are correct, but keep in mind that most cameras also have an SDI output latency. Take RED cameras for example, that goes up to 3 frames, depends on the frame settings. Most cameras have about 2 frames SDI output latency. For some reason the pandemic did not affect sales, and indeed we are low/out of stock; delivery to dealers should start next week again. If you really want to get a proper estimate of arrival, let your dealer contact us so we can make a more exact estimate, or contact them to find out if they have some in pre-order with us, because to be honest, these kits goes fast at the moment.
